3.4 Empty Orchestra
“When you’ve cut someone’s bum off and eaten it, you kind of go, well, better try something different!” Steve Pemberton told us at the Inside No. 9 series three launch. In Empty Orchestra, a (whisper it) love story with a (keep whispering) happy ending, something different is exactly what he and Reece Shearsmith have done.
Compared to the thoroughgoing nastiness of The Riddle Of The Sphinx, this one’s as refreshing as a sea breeze. The baddies are punished, the goodies are rewarded, and the viewer can skip happily to bed...

Now that we’ve seen the first teaser image (above) from the much-anticipated Red Dwarf X, here’s the five things we most want to see from the show’s return…
5. The Boys Need To Be Back On Red Dwarf
Skip the cobbles, we don’t want no earth adventuring, let’s go back to the roots . The premise that created red dwarf in the first place, one guy 3million years in the future trying to get back to earth. Back to the bunks and dreary grey walls is where we want them to be, wandering the corridors of the mining ship. The Dwarfers have probably explored more of the Galaxy itself than they have of the ship. Who’s to say there’s not an army of Simulants on deck 63? Or a small Cat Civilization hidden amongst one of the cargo bays?
Get the boys wandering through the big red can,...

Last night was a celebration of milestones, achievements, good parenting (or just genetic luck), and the American legal system. Teresa and Joe were approaching 10 years of marriage (though to Teresa it only feels like 5), Albie enrolled in the police academy, and Danielle’s daughter turned 16. Of course, her daughter’s birthday wasn’t enough of an occasion for Danielle, so she had to turn what was supposed to be a relatively low-key party into one big tear-inducing, pressure-filled audition for her youngest daughter.
Her eldest, the aspiring model and perpetual deer in headlights Christine, chose to celebrate her 16th birthday...

Film, TV, and theater star Cynthia Nixon announced to the crowd of thousands gathered at Broadway Impact's Equality rally in New York City on Sunday, May 17, that she is engaged to be married to her partner since 2003, Christine Marinoni.
"I have a secret to tell you," she told the cheering crowd. "Last month, my girlfriend Christine and I got engaged. And I have a beautiful ring to prove it."
Nixon went on to call for the right for same-sex couples to get married in New York State, and talked about how Christine is a stay-at-home mom to their children, but has no legal right to them if Nixon dies (the children's father and Nixon's former partner, Danny Mozes, is also very involved in parenting them).
