Bradley Cooper’s talents could aptly be summarized with the title of one of his films, Limitless. With over two decades dedicated to Hollywood, he’s undeniably one of its biggest stars. From the success of The Hangover series to his MCU journey as Rocket in The Guardians of the Galaxy, he has done quite a lot to cement his name in the industry.
Yet, despite his immense success, he hadn’t quite felt welcomed into “the club.” It was his recent departure into more serious roles, including stepping into a role replacing Leonardo DiCaprio, that allowed him to confront the insecurities and emotions he’d accrued over the years.

Jessica Chastain was a “mess” when she won the best actress Oscar for “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” in 2022. Not from the barrage of congratulatory messages from friends and family, but her hair (Stephanie Ingram) and makeup (Linda Dowds) collaborators had also won the best makeup and hairstyling Oscar. Says Chastain, “It was so meaningful to me that they were recognized for their work.”
Chastain, Dowds and Ingram first crossed paths in 2013 on “Mama,” and most recently on Showtime’s “George and Tammy,” the story of country singers George Jones (played by Michael Shannon) and Tammy Wynette (Chastain). Since then, the trio has become a tight unit with honesty and trust at the core of their collaboration, whether conceiving real-life transformations or subtle applications as part of their process.
You all started working together on “Mama.” What do you remember about that film?
Linda Dowds: The character was so much fun.

“A Bigger Splash”: Jack English; “I, Daniel Blake”: Courtesy IFC Films; "Miss Sloane”: Kerry Hayes Awards season campaigns are an alchemical combination of politics, word of mouth, and sheer luck, and there’s often no telling where the chips may fall. There is a certain thrill in following the exploits of the smartest person in the room, the one able to out-think and outmaneuver everyone, who anticipates every move and every development, to win against all odds. In most movies, that fascinating, brilliant person is a man but in director John Madden’s Miss Sloane, it is a woman. Played with riveting power by Jessica Chastain, Elizabeth Sloane is the one with all the smarts, all the nerve, all the tricks and ready to smack down all opponents to win every time.
We are long accustomed to seeing men as powerful if not necessarily likable lead characters on the big screen, but there is a special thriller in seeing a woman in that kind role. Jessica Chastain has the talent to pull this off,...

In a brilliant newspaper drama that evokes All The President’S Men, Spotlight recounts the careful, dogged investigative journalism that blew the lid off the pedophile priest sex scandal that is still rocking the Catholic Church today.
Director Tom McCarthy takes the film’s name from the investigative team at the Boston Globe who exposed the sex scandal in 2001. McCarthy co-wrote the script with Josh Singer based strongly on the actual history. Michael Keaton heads up a strong cast in this gripping real-world newsroom drama that is also an excellent detective procedural that delivers realistic drama without sensationalizing.
The story takes place in Boston, a city that has much in common with St. Louis, a heavily-Catholic, red-brick old city built of families, neighborhoods and remembered ethnic roots, a kind of “small town” big city where people often grown up and stay,...

Chicago – You get the sense that a writer for the new “RoboCop” felt very proud of himself when he coined the cheeky word “robophobic” as a play on a current cultural hot button. The Samuel L. Jackson moment of self-fulfilled glory reminded me of the rest of the plot that was missing.

In Robocop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years, but have been forbidden for law enforcement in America. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it.
When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance to build a part-man, part-robot police officer.
OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine.

Here’s the first official trailer and poster for Relativity Media’s upcoming gripping, gritty drama, Out Of The Furnace. Directed and co-written by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart), the film boasts an Academy Award winning and nominated cast featuring Christian Bale, Woody Harrelson, Casey Affleck, Forest Whitaker, Willem Dafoe, Zoë Saldana and Sam Shepard.
From what we’ve seen in this great trailer, (mind you, it’s not a lot,) I can see Woody Harrelson with another Acting nomination – maybe even that elusive gold statue on Oscar Sunday, March 2, 2014.
Russell Baze (Christian Bale) has a rough life: he works a dead-end blue collar job at the local steel mill by day, and cares for his terminally ill father by night. When Russell’s brother Rodney (Casey Affleck) returns home from serving time in Iraq, he gets lured into one of the most ruthless crime rings in the Northeast and mysteriously disappears.

Ready for fighting aliens, monsters and robots on a colossal scale? Human pilots Idris Elba and Charlie Hunnam rise to the challenge to save humanity in this first trailer for director Guillermo del Toro’s sci-fi action adventure Pacific Rim.

Rachel McAdams, Channing Tatum, The Vow Safe House: Denzel Washington's Biggest Box-Office Hit Since American Gangster The Ryan Reynolds / Denzel Washington thriller Safe House was closely followed by two movies: Tyler Perry's Good Deeds with $7m — down a whopping 55% on its second weekend out — at no. 5 and the Josh Hutcherson / Dwayne Johnson / Vanessa Hudgens 3D adventure Journey 2: The Mysterious Island with $6.92m (-48%) at no. 6, according to studio estimates found at Box Office Mojo. Good Deeds' total is a mediocre $25.74m; The Mysterious Island has a more impressive $85.61m cume. At no. 7, Rachel McAdams / Channing Tatum's The Vow scored $6.1m. Cuming at $111.71m, that means Michael Sucsy's romantic drama has become Rachel McAdams' biggest personal box-office hit — excluding the Robert Downey Jr / Jude Law Sherlock Holmes movies and the Vince Vaughn / Owen Wilson comedy Wedding Crashers. A while back, The Vow surpassed...

Rachel McAdams, Channing Tatum, The Vow According to Box Office Mojo, February 2012 was the best month of February in terms of movie attendance since 2004. On North American screens in February '04 were Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ, the Ben Stiller / Jennifer Aniston comedy Along Came Polly, the Adam Sandler / Drew Barrymore romantic comedy 50 First Dates, and the Ice Cube vehicle Barbershop 2: Back in Business. February 2012's high grosses were basically a result of the success of only three movies: the Rachel McAdams / Channing Tatum romantic drama The Vow, the Ryan Reynolds / Denzel Washington actioner Safe House, and the Josh Hutcherson / Vanessa Hudgens / Dwayne Johnson adventure Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. The first two have grossed more than $100m domestically; the third one has just surpassed the $80m mark. Providing some assistance were the surprise minor hit Chronicle and Daniel Radcliffe's first post-Harry Potter movie, The Woman in Black.

Channing Tatum, Rachel McAdams, The Vow Act Of Valor #1, Tyler Perry/Good Deeds So-So: Box Office Trailing Mike McCoy and Scott Waugh's Act of Valor and Tyler Perry's Good Deeds on Friday, at no. 3 the Rachel McAdams / Channing Tatum romantic drama The Vow added $3.25 million according to studio estimates found at Box Office Mojo. The Vow's current total domestic gross is $96.25 million, which means it should be passing the $100 million milestone some time today — or at the very latest tomorrow afternoon. The Vow has a rotten 26% approval rating among Rotten Tomatoes' top critics, but that certainly won't stop it from becoming Rachel McAdams' biggest personal box-office hit (not including the Robert Downey Jr Sherlock Holmes movies and the Vince Vaughn-Owen Wilson comedy Wedding Crashers). The Vow is already ahead of The Time Traveler's Wife (2009) and Red Eye (2005), it's far ahead of Morning Glory (2010), and without adjusting for inflation,...

Rachel McAdams, Channing Tatum, The Vow Denzel Washington/Ryan Reynolds/Safe House Surprise No.1: Box Office Starring Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum, Michael Sucsy's romantic drama The Vow continues to perform quite well at the domestic box office, collecting $26.6 million (slightly less than early estimates indicated) in the Us/Canada this extended Presidents Day weekend, as per studio estimates found at Box Office Mojo. Though generally dismissed by critics — The Vow has a lowly 26% approval rating among Rotten Tomatoes' top critics — the Tatum-McAdams movie has already collected $88.52 million domestically. Following box-office estimates for Friday, The Vow was expected to top Presidents Day weekend. But after surging on the weekend proper, the Denzel Washington/Ryan Reynolds action-thriller Safe House turned out to be the weekend's no. 1 movie if studio estimates are correct. Domestically, The Vow may become Rachel McAdams' biggest personal box-office hit (not including Robert Downey Jr...

Channing Tatum, Rachel McAdams, The Vow Nicolas Cage/Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance Flops: Box Office Starring Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum, Michael Sucsy's romantic drama The Vow continues to perform remarkably well, having collected $7.4 million at the North American box office on Friday, Feb. 17, as per studio estimates found at Box Office Mojo. As it stands, the widely derided The Vow (26% approval rating among Rotten Tomatoes' top critics) is expected to gross close to $30 million over the four-day Presidents Day weekend. American Horror Story's two-time Oscar winner Jessica Lange (Tootsie, Blue Sky) and The Piano's Sam Neill are also featured in this early 2012 sleeper hit — $79 million after eight days — that cost a relatively modest $30m. It's a good thing The Vow, which was reportedly inspired by a true story, is performing so well in the U.S. — it may turn out to be Rachel McAdams'...

Rachel McAdams, Channing Tatum, The Vow Four movies are expected to earn more than $20 million at the North American box office this weekend: Michael Sucsy's The Vow, Daniel Espinosa's Safe House, George Lucas' Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace 3D, and Brad Peyton's Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. According to Deadline.com, that's the first time this happens over a non-holiday Fri/Sat/Sun. Even so, one must take into account both inflation and inflated 3D prices for both The Phantom Menace and The Mysterious Island. Starring Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum, the Valentine's Day-timed The Vow is expected to top the weekend, grossing a better-than-expected $39 million after an estimated $15.5 million at 2,958 locations on Friday. Jessica Lange and Sam Neill co-star. At no. 2, the R-rated actioner Safe House, should collect $38 million after earning about $15 million at 3,119 theaters on Friday. Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington star.

Chicago – “The Vow” was “inspired by true events.” The end credits even showed the real couple of those events. Given the actual film, it’s likely that inspiration came in the form of “making stuff up,” as Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum were opposite to any reality in this illogical, strangely cold romance.
Rating: 2.5/5.0
Set in a Chicago that only an outsider can understand, “The Vow” uses a plot device – random, selective amnesia – that today is only used in a soap opera. No matter how this condition is presented, it is almost impossible to rationally believe it, because everything that’s forgotten is conveniently tied to a recent marriage of a lovey-dovey couple. Suddenly the whole audience become brain surgeons, making the diagnosis that suspending disbelief is impossible.
The film begins with the intoned narration of Leo (Channing Tatum), describing the precious story of his true love Paige (Rachel McAdams...

Chicago – There are certain programs that are easy for a critic to defend on the strength of their ensemble, the brilliance of their writing, or other easily identifiable elements that make them “work.” Pointing out that programs like “Mad Men” and “Lost” are above-average is like saying filet mignon tastes good. Duh. But every once in awhile there’s a program that’s a bit harder to defend and yet nearly as easy to enjoy. These are the guilty pleasures of the tube and a new one starts tonight in The CW’s “Nikita.”
Television Rating: 3.5/5.0
Is “Nikita” good? It depends on your definition of the word. On one hand, it will remind you of cheesy action programs that starred B-list actors like Pamela Anderson or Lorenzo Lamas, complete with over-the-top dialogue, two-dimensional characters, and ridiculous plot twists that defy all logic. On the other hand, not everything needs to...

I’ve long been a Chris Gorham fan, even though I’m not particularly sure why. I mean even back as far as Popular and Odyssey 5, two shows I didn’t actually like, but for some reason liked Chris in (we’re tight like that). I didn’t love Jake 2.0, or Medical Investigation either, and thus the story just keeps getting stranger. I can’t think of another actor that I equally look forward to, who has never been on a show that I particularly enjoyed.
Although, despite critical and ratings difficulties, I did rather enjoy the goofball antics of Harper’s Island. Well, until we found out the real story, and things got downright silly (the pretty obvious secret to the show is that the killer is the only person the show never tried to convince me might be the killer).

Director Edgar Wright (center) with Michael Cera and Mark Webber on the set of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Photograph by Kerry Hayes. Last fall, while in London for the premiere of Up in the Air, director Jason Reitman got an advance peek at Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. He screened only 30 minutes of a very rough cut, but what he witnessed was enough to give him a movie boner. “(Scott Pilgrim) does what everyone our age has been dreaming about,” he tweeted later. “(It) achieves the first all encompassing film of the joystick generation.” If you qualify as “our age” (which I’m going to ballpark as somewhere between old-enough-to-go-on-the-Internet-unsupervised and geriatric), Reitman’s endorsement probably fills you with a confusing mix of emotions. On the one hand, it sounds exactly as awesome as all the teasers and trailers and pre-release praise have led us to believe.

Chicago – Reminiscent of vastly superior work by David Cronenberg and Paul Verhoeven but with none of the directorial skill apparent in the work of those two talented men, “Repo Men” with Jude Law and Forest Whitaker is a total disaster possibly unmatched in the careers of its talented stars. Like a product of the typically awful video-game-to-screen subgenre but with no source material to blame for the results, “Repo Men” is a film with no identity and little personality unless being remarkably inconsistent counts.
Rating: 1.0/5.0
Like a lot of bad sci-fi movies, “Repo Men” starts interestingly enough but falls apart after a dull, poorly edited middle act and really collapses in a ridiculous final reel that employs a brand of lunacy usually reserved for straight-to-video fare. This is the kind of junk expected of some actors but it’s sad to see talented performers like Jude Law, Forest Whitaker, Carice Van Houten,...

She also talks about her decision to "step back" and semi-retire to Idaho after starring in and producing G.I. Jane. "I think G.I. Chicago – At some point in our lives, most of us have had to reach slightly above our job descriptions to appease a demanding boss. Common themes from making coffee to picking up dry cleaning are familiar and often tolerated as one strives to “get ahead”.
