Steven Strait is one of the lucky few actors who has fulfilled his lifelong goal of working steadily. Having played Jim Holden on The Expanse since 2015, he is now a regular sight on many people’s screens. Although Steven has been in the same role for seven years, he is a talented actor who can easily switch gears into other creative areas, including producing and music. Whatever type of role he’s given, Steven always does a fantastic job of embodying his character. Time is of the essence if you haven’t been keeping tabs on Steven to see what he’s about.

This The Expanse article contains Major spoilers for the series finale. It does not contain any book spoilers past Babylon’s Ashes.
The Expanse just wrapped up its six-season run, which spanned two networks (or technically one cable channel and one streaming platform) and covered the first six books of the nine-novel source material. While The Expanse left many narrative threads up in the air—most obviously, the mystery of Laconia and its strange dogs, as well as the larger Protomolecule vs. Ring Entities plot—the final, six-episode season did a fantastic job of wrapping up the emotional and political plot beats that have defined so much of this phenomenal series. Let’s break down how The Expanse brought its story to a satisfying end in “Babylon’s Ashes.”
Who Defeats Marco Inaros?
Because of the short season order, Season 6 has had to narrow its story focus a great deal in this season.

The Expanse Season 5 Episode 8
This week’s The Expanse injects a whole different type of tension into the stories of escape and helplessness. While Amos’ arc has shifted into a quest to escape a dying planet, Naomi’s has become a desperate tale of survival and a MacGyver-esque call for rescue. While the Drummer family’s struggle under the yoke of Marco’s command isn’t quite as compelling, it, too, denotes a longing to break free that has been the thematic hallmark of season 5.
That’s not to say that the emotional turmoil Drummer is under doesn’t have its own draw. The distinction she makes between salvaging and scavenging the wreckage of a Belter faction that denied Marco’s rule carries a certain amount of tragic gravitas. Likewise, Karal likening Drummer’s reluctance to Naomi’s past betrayal of her Belter family...

Amos is no stranger to using nicknames for those he interacts with in The Expanse. Bobbie, Avasarala, and most recently the modded criminal Konechek, don’t seem to really like their nicknames: “Babs,” “Chrissy,” and “Tiny” respectively. But while Clarissa doesn’t actively embrace the nickname of “Peaches,” it has become a term of endearment that she at least tolerates (and maybe even enjoys) during their survival tale in season 5. But why the name Peaches?
Clarissa Mao was introduced in The Expanse season 3 and only appeared briefly in a video call from prison in season 4, so a reminder of her origins is not only warranted; it also serves to explain what inspired Amos to choose Peaches. Fans probably remember that Clarissa’s father, Jules-Pierre Mao, was the first to try and exploit the protomolecule, and her sister Julie was tragically contaminated with the goo, passing it along to the unfortunate Belters on Eros.

Polyamory is not new to the world of The Expanse. It was already established earlier in the series (and in the books) that James Holden is the child of five fathers and three mothers, each of whom contributed DNA to his genetic mix. But season 5 introduces a much stronger illustration of the future practice of polyamory among the crews of the Belter ships Dewalt and Mowteng, Drummer’s fleet of sorts. The support they provide each other, especially as Drummer mourns the loss of Klaes Ashford, is undeniably heartwarming in such a fractious time.
“We are finally seeing Drummer in a love relationship, and it happens to be a polyamorous, beautiful, queer family,” Cara Gee told us about her character in The Expanse season 5. “And I could not be more thrilled to represent that. The phenomenal actors who bring all those roles to life — I’m just so excited for the world to meet them.

The Expanse has officially set course toward a bittersweet threshold crossed by many-a-beloved shows: an advance renewal for its final season.
Indeed, as the beloved and beleaguered sci-fi series prepares to premiere its fifth season in December, Amazon Studios has announced the renewal for a sixth and final season for The Expanse, as Deadline reports. Interestingly, while showrunner Naren Shankar and most of the main cast are expected to return for Season 6—notwithstanding plot developments in the upcoming Season 5—the sixth frame will bear a notable absence with the reported ousting of cast member Cas Anvar, who, having played Alex Kamal since the beginning of the series, became embroiled in sexual misconduct allegations this past summer.

Steven Strait and Wes Chatham speak to us about how events in the lives of Holden and Amos affect their actions in The Expanse season 4.
Walking across the set of The Expanse can be a fairly surreal experience in that distances between planets are compressed to a few steps. Behind one flat is the Un situation room on Earth where Avasarala is briefed on military operations in deep space, and around a corner is a rocky underground public space on Mars, illuminated colorfully to break up the red stone walls. It is here that we incongruously meet with Steven Strait and Wes Chatham, who play James Holden and Amos Burton on the show, neither of whom spend any time on Mars. “Ilus is the next hall over,” Chatham informs us, referring to the distant planet on which the Rocinante crew find themselves in season 4, mediating a dispute...

Relationships on television shows offer a lot to their fans, and it isn't like their sex scenes are the main reason we love them, but they are still really important.
A sex scene will make or break a couple if executed a certain way. Because it is all about the chemistry between a couple, and if they have a sex scene, and they don't show any of that energy, then they don't stay on our minds for too long.
Luckily, there is now this list that compiles some of the hottest sex scenes that we will never be able to forget.

With the wonderful news that Emily Bett Rickards is coming back for Arrow's final episode, it feels fitting to travel back to a time when this scene hit our screens.

Amazon Prime has released a new teaser trailer for the upcoming fourth season of the popular sci-fi series The Expanse. This is a great show and I’m pretty pumped up to see how the story in this upcoming season is going to play out. This trailer certain does a good job of upping the excitement!
The Expanse is based on the sci-fi novels by James S. A. Corey and was co-created and written by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (Children of Men). The series unfolds across a colonized galaxy 200 years in the future when two strangers become unwittingly swept up in a vast conspiracy.
Here’s a rundown of information for all four seasons:
About The Expanse Season 1:
The disappearance of rich-girl-turned-political-activist Julie Mao links the lives of Ceres detective Joe Miller (Thomas Jane), accidental ship captain James Holden (Steven Strait) and U.N. politician Chrisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo). Amidst political tension between Earth,...

Amazon has released an exciting new trailer for their fantastic sci-fi series The Expanse. The series is based on the novel series by James S.A. Corey, and this next chapter of the series looks like it’s going to deliver an awesome continuation of the story. It’s crazy to me that SciFi cancelled this! What were they thinking!?
It has also been confirmed that The Expanse will be getting a Season 5, so don’t worry, we will be getting at least one more season to enjoy! Here are the details on the series and what is in store for Season4:
The disappearance of rich-girl-turned-political-activist Julie Mao links the lives of Ceres detective Joe Miller (Thomas Jane), accidental ship captain James Holden (Steven Strait) and U.N. politician Chrisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo). Amidst political tension between Earth, Mars and the Belt, they unravel the single greatest conspiracy of all time.

Pundits worry Trek is taking a cue from Star Wars by turning a hero into a grump, but adult rumination is what Trek has always been about.
Even though very little is known about the new Star Trek: Picard series, what we do know is enough for pundits and fans to already start making thematic assumptions. If you’re wrapped-up in the geek internet, you’ve probably already heard this one: Having a grumpy, retired Captain Picard in the new Star Trek series is similar to having a grumpy, exhilted Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
However, pundits forget: unlike Star Wars, The Next Generation was always been about olds, and Star Trek often draws its narratives not from coming-of-age tropes, but, instead, has always been about adults dealing with adult problems. If Picard is old and grumpy in the new show, it’s not...

The clear progression of scale in the universe of The Expanse reaches its peak with the reign of the Laconian Empire in Tiamat’s Wrath.
Books
Tiamat’s Wrath is the penultimate novel in James S.A. Corey’s The Expanse series, and it certainly feels like an epic reaching its conclusion. James Holden, Naomi Nagata, Alex Kamal, Amos Burton, and Bobbie Draper are already legends of a former age after the 30 year time jump in Book 7, Persepolis Rising, and even though the team is separated in this installment, with Holden still on Laconia as at the end of the previous novel and Bobbie and Naomi handling different aspects of the resistance’s efforts, the sheer scale of the obstacle to overcome is worthy of the characters’ elevated status, even if they’re not together.
It’s important to remember that as soon as the protomolecule was introduced in the first novel,...

Quick, name the last great science fiction TV show you've seen. HBO's Westworld might count, though that's almost as much western as it is sci-fi. Orphan Black and Black Mirror have some of sci-fi elements, sure, but they aren't quite representative of the genre. You may have to go all the way back to Battlestar Galactica, which went off the air in 2009, to find a show that's done for sci-fi what Game of Thrones has done for fantasy or The Walking Dead has done for horror.
But here's the thing:...

Syfy’s excellent space drama The Expanse will return on February 8th and promises more intrigue and action as the epic tale unfolds across the Solar System. The show is based on the book series by James S. A. Corey and is set 200 years in the future, where Mars and the astroid belt have been colonised by Earth. However, both have developed their own cultures and are independent from Earth. Indeed tensions are growing as politicians make power plays, corruption undermines the rule of law and an arms race threatens to make a cold war go hot. The first season saw Jim Holden, an...read more...

Syfy's "most ambitious series to date", The Expanse, is well worth a look. Here's our episode one review...
This review contains spoilers.
1.1 Dulcinea
Based on the series of novels by James S. A. Corey, the SyFy channel’s new “space opera”, The Expanse begins with a tense, slow-burning affair, culminating in a sizeable pay-off that lays the groundwork for a promising new science-fiction adaptation.
Series developers Mark Fergus and (the wonderfully named) Hawk Ostby resist the temptation many new shows succumb to: jumping out of the blocks with all guns blazing, hoping to entice viewers with a packed forty minutes of explosions, only for subsequent episodes to inevitably fail to live up to that opening salvo. Instead, The Expanse allows its audience to spend time with each primary character and location and get a feel of where this show is headed. The pacing is measured, rather than slow,...

Syfy is billing The Expanse as the most ambitious series in its history, and from what we’ve seen, that shows. It has a look and feel that combines good old space opera with sleek science fiction, reminding us of Guardians of the Galaxy at times in its fun yet thrilling depiction of a future that — despite being set 200 years away from our time, when humanity has colonized the solar system — still has a lived-in look. There’s nothing tidy about this future, or its characters, especially rogue ship’s captain Jim Holden (Steven Strait, pictured). “We have the technology … Continue reading →

One episode was provided prior to broadcast.
There’s a moment in the second novel of James S.A. Corey’s “The Expanse” series, Caliban’s War, when one of its characters suddenly stops looking at his problems on an intimate, personal scale, and puts them in comparison to the turmoil ushering itself across the story’s gritty, gripping version of the solar system. “He was in a tiny metal-and-ceramic box that was exchanging matter for energy to throw a half dozen primates across a vacuum larger than millions of oceans,” he thinks to himself. “Compared to that, how could anything else matter?”
There’s a similar euphoric malaise dripping from the edges of Syfy’s interpretation of The Expanse (season one is mostly book one, Leviathan Wakes, with a handful of tidbits and characters corralled in from Caliban’s War), which chart the adventures of a few unlucky individuals...
