- Leon Jessel was born on January 22, 1871 in Stettin, Pomerania, Germany [now Szczecin, Zachodniopomorskie, Poland]. He was a writer and composer, known for Schwarzwaldmädel (1933), The Black Forest Girl (1950) and Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm (1938). He died on January 4, 1942 in Berlin, Germany.
