Forget that "winter is coming." The end is coming for fans of George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones books a lot sooner than they might like.
Speaking at Oxford University on March 20, the showrunners for HBO's Game of Thrones TV adaptation confirmed what longtime readers have feared: The show will end more or less how Martin plans to conclude the books.
"We know where things are heading," said David Benioff, who executive produces the series alongside D.B. Weiss, who was also present at the talk. "We will eventually meet up at pretty much the same place that George is going.

Bad news for fans of the book series HBO hit series “Game of Thrones” is based on: U.K. publisher HarperCollins reportedly does not currently have a plan to release the sixth installment in George R.R. Martin‘s epic series in 2015.
The news, reported by The Guardian on Friday, is troubling for fans of the TV series, as Season 5 of “Game of Thrones” will have caught up with all the books published thus far. Martin has been working on the latest book, called “The Winds of Winter,” since the release of “A Dance With Dragons” in 2011.

Game of Thrones fans, here's the good news first: George R.R. Martin's editor, Anne Groell, hinted that the author's beloved A Song of Ice and Fire series (the source material for the popular HBO show) could have eight books instead of the planned seven, The Guardian reports. The bad news? Considering Martin's notoriously slow writing process — which may be partly blamed on the boot-up time of his Dos computer — you'd have to wait even longer to see how this saga wraps up.

Here’s news that should delight and infuriate fans of George R. R. Martin’s A Song Of Ice And Fire series. While HBO’s swords and sex epic is reaching the end of the third season (and the halfway point of the third point), Martin is still “working” on the sixth book, The Winds Of Winter.
Of course, inbetween that, he’s been working on the HBO show, and supplying an episode a season, and also signed with HBO to develop other shows. Add to the list, a coffee table book dubbed, lovingly, ”The Grrm-arillion.” The book is actually a history of Westeros, something that sounds enthralling in itself, which Martin has written 250,000 words of.
Martin’s description of the book:
“The concordance. Elio and Linda are my partners on this one, a compendium of the history and legends of the world of Westeros. A coffee table book, lots...

Steps have been given a second reality TV series. The 90s group - made up of Claire Richards, Faye Tozer, Lisa Scott-Lee, Lee Latchford-Evans and Ian 'H' Watkins - originally reunited for a Sky Living documentary last year and it was such a success that producers have commissioned another run of the show.
