Superman & Lois Season 2 Episode 4
“She is a parasite.”
That’s what Lois Lane tells her sister Lucy Lane during an emotionally fraught flashback sequence in the latest episode of Superman & Lois. Lois is referring to Ally Allston, a cult leader who preaches something known as “The Inverse Method” (which also happens to be the title of this episode), and who has managed to ensnare Lucy during a particularly vulnerable point in her life.
Who is Ally Allston?
So we don’t know a lot about Ally Allston yet other than the fact that she appears to be very, very good at her job. Her job, of course, being a skeevy-ass cult leader. Lois’ choice of words referring to Ally as “a parasite” were no accident, though. In the comics, Ally wasn’t a cult leader, but was in fact an actual, literal parasite.

Every reboot of Superman tries something different, striving to find a fresh approach to the material, and Superman: Man of Tomorrow is no different. This direct-to-video release, out now from Warner Home Entertainment, is intended as the opening chapter in a new continuity, a Rebirth, as it were, of the DC Animated Universe.
Other than the destruction of Krypton, baby Kal-El being raised by the Kents, and Clark (Darren Criss) arriving gin Metropolis as an adult, everything else is a modern take. Clark arrives as an intern with Lois Lane (Alexandra Daddario) just a grad student making her bones at the paper. Perry White (Piotr Michael) is there in all his bluster with Ron Troupe (Eugene Byrd) there for diversity and not a sign of Jimmy Olsen, Steve Lombard, or Cat Grant.

If there’s one thing DC loves, it’s reboots. The comics cycle through their continuity in one form or another every decade or so, the movies…well…that’s a whole thing, too. So of course now it’s time for the DC animated movies to get a fresh start. And this time, they’re doing it with the hero who should pretty much always be the center of these things: Superman.
Since 2014, there have been 20 DC Universe Animated Original Movies, most of which existed in a shared continuity that began with Justice League: War and culminated in this year’s Justice League Dark: Apokalips War. With that story arc now complete, Superman: Man of Tomorrow will set up a new continuity for future movies. Butch Lukic is the new Supervising Producer for these DC movies, with Chris Palmer directing Man of Tomorrow.

Hands up if you ever thought you’d see a sensitive coming-out narrative as a central piece of a superhero TV show! Anyone? Put your hands down. You’re lying.
The CW superhero shows in particular have done an excellent job of increasing the visibility of their gay characters in a "this character is gay, no big deal, moving on..." kind of situation. Which is great, of course. We've seen it on The Flash with Captain Singh and his partner, and we saw it on Arrow, where not even a freakin' supervillain like...

The CW has released a full batch of promotional images for next week's episode of Supergirl, and they are quite revealing indeed. Not only do they give us another glimpse of Mehcad Brooks decked out as The Guardian (wasn't the costume white originally?), but they also feature William Mapother (Lost) as a character named Dr. Rudy Jones, who DC fans will recognize as the alter-ego of the villainous Parasite. You can see a few more pics over at Kryptonsite.com. The Guardian Debuts In National City — The Guardian debuts to lend a hand after a parasite alien drains Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) of her power. Mon-El (Chris Wood) considers a less than desirable new career which then leads him to contemplate his motives. Alex (Chyler Leigh) struggles with a new reality. Andrew Kreisberg and Caitlin Parris wrote the script based on the story by Greg Beranti. The episode was directed by...
