Fox’s reboot of “Fantasy Island” centers around Roselyn Sánchez’s Elena Roarke, a descendant of the iconic Mr. Roarke (Ricardo Montalbán) from the original series. While this Roarke has many things in common with her great uncle who ran the luxury resort before her one clear distinction between the two — and between this reimagined show and its ancestor — is Elena doesn’t have a sidekick named Tattoo (played by beloved actor Hervé Villechaize).
In fact, she doesn’t really have an assistant at all when we first meet her. And the show’s shoutout to Tattoo’s iconic “Fantasy Island” catchphrase, “The plane! The plane!”, is actually delivered by Elena herself in the premiere episode, as viewers will see when it airs Tuesday at 9/8c on Fox.
So why did this modern take on “Fantasy Island” pay homage to Villechaize’s character rather than try to re-create him in some form?...

“Prodigal Son” is returning to the Fox fold.
The network hare renewed the Michael Sheen and Tom Payne serial killer drama for a second season. Precisely where “Prodigal Son” will fit into Fox’s 2020-2021 slate remains to be seen, as the network already set a fall schedule anchored by acquisitions like “La’s Finest,” returning unscripted series like “The Masked Singer,” and scripted series which had been held back from last season like “Next” and “Filthy Rich.”
Given the coronavirus production shutdown, sources say season 2 of “Prodigal Son” will most likely appear sometime in midseason.

As Mr. Wednesday tosses Shadow (Ricky Whittle) a spear he tells him “war’s a-coming” and that he has a “big role” for him. The trailer also offers first looks at new characters for the season played by Sakina Jaffrey and Dean Winters.
In the second season of the drama series,...

USA Network’s newest original drama “Damnation” isn’t based on the Great Depression taught in schools nationwide. Instead, it’s a fictional account of cultural revolution. The network has released a new trailer for the series, which is set to premiere Tuesday, November 7 at 10/9 p.m.
“Damnation” tells the tale of Iowa preacher Seth Davenport (Killian Scott) who vows to instigate a farmer’s strike. “If your neighbor is siding with wealth,” Davenport pleads in the recently released trailer, “then you need to recognize that neighbor for what he is — the enemy.”
Seth fights corruption and corporate greed unknowingly beside a professional strikebreaker, Creeley Turner (Logan Marshall-Green), who has been hired by an industrialist tycoon. But as Turner and Davenport are set to squabble, those around them don’t know about their secret, violent past.

Emily Browning continues to impress in American Gods. Here's our review of the latest episode...
This review contains spoilers.
1.7 A Prayer For Mad Sweeney
It’s strange to think that Emily Browning might just become the breakout star of American Gods, but here we are. You’d expect someone like Ricky Whittle to blow up, or perhaps Corbin Bernsen will get that career renaissance I spoke about last week. Maybe Omid Abtahi will translate the beatific charm of Salim into a big career, or Chris Obi will become a household name after displaying both calculated menace, kindness, and comic timing, usually in the same scene. And yet, Emily Browning, who played the lead in several huge-budget movies, is poised to make a career leap with performances like her most recent in A Prayer For Mad Sweeney.

1.6 A Murder Of Gods
There's something of an art to splitting the main cast of a television show into two groups. I've seen it done very poorly, and I've seen it done very well. Some shows, like Game Of Thrones, seem to deliberately break their episodes up into little segments and chunks, so viewers get to spend five minutes here, five minutes there, and only occasionally get a full-on episode in one location with one or two major characters. American Gods, being a travelogue at its core, has two groups of characters on the road, and they're two groups that function very well separately from one another.

Hannibal, Season 3, Episode 7, “Digestivo”
Written by Steve Lightfoot and Bryan Fuller
Directed by Adam Kane
Airs Saturdays at 10pm (Et) on NBC
From its very first episode, Hannibal has had to contend with a certain element of dramatic irony. One needn’t be a cinephile or fan of Thomas Harris’ novels to know of Hannibal Lecter, Hannibal the Cannibal, and for the name to immediately conjure the image of Anthony Hopkins locked in a cell, or wearing a straightjacket and strapped to a gurney. It feels safe to say that everyone watching the series Hannibal knows that at some point, barring a complete break from the source material, Hannibal Lecter will end up in police custody. With “Digestivo”, Bryan Fuller and company finally bring this moment to pass, catching up to the lesser informed segment of the audience—those only peripherally familiar with Red Dragon or Silence of the Lambs—and doing so in style.

"Digestivo” is an ellipsis of an episode, the transitional, and transitory, chapter that skulks between the season’s two halves. It begins with Hannibal Lecter sawing into Will Graham's skull; it ends with Will Graham saying good-bye to Hannibal Lecter. In the 45-minute interval between those two moments, life is engendered and life is ended and Will and Hannibal's relationship reaches its inevitable conclusion. It’s an appropriate first episode in the wake of NBC’s unceremonious dumping of Hannibal into the Saturday night graveyard slot, where they hope the show will die out of sight.Without remorse or consolation, director Adam Kane tosses us into the thralls of the episode: A storm of polizia boots ascend stairs as music culled from the nightmares of freak-show performers plays. The police smash into the room where Hannibal is cutting into Will's head, where Jack sits and watches. They're not here to make any arrests,...

Plenty of info here about Marvel’s Daredevil series on Neftlix. And a 15 rating? Yes please…
As the folks at Collider spotted, the British Board Of Film Classification have spilled a few beans with regards to Marvel Studio’s Daredevil Netflix series.
Promisingly for fans of gritty street-level violence, the show is the first Marvel Studios property to garner a 15 rating. Many may have been hoping for an 18, but 15 definitely allows a lot more than a 12A. ‘Strong bloody violence,’ is the reason given, but it would sound creepy for us to say that sounds promising wouldn’t it? Moving on…
We also learnt some interesting details from the first three episodes. The premiere episode will be titled Into The Ring – a crime ring, perhaps? Or should we expect some boxing (Matthew Murdock's father was a boxer after all)? The McU debut of The Ringmaster? We don’t know, but...

High Moon
Written by Bryan Fuller and Jim Danger Gray
Directed by Adam Kane
Aired September 15, 2014 on Syfy
While Bryan Fuller’s style may be a bit too quirky, macabre, or esoteric for some audiences, there’s no denying that the man knows how to give good pilot. The first episode of Wonderfalls was an endearing, fast-talking affair that gradually injected fantasy into early 20s/retail ennui. The first episode of Pushing Daisies was nothing less than a storybook brought to life, a vibrant spin on the matters of life, death, and what happens when the order of the two reverses. And the first episode of Hannibal was a visceral, otherworldly affair that made it clear from the outset it wasn’t your parents’ Hannibal Lecter.
That track record leads to a lot of high expectations for High Moon, even though unlike those previous shows the pilot is (likely) all there’s going to be.

Ron doesn't see why Syfy's fun, good-looking sci-fi pilot, High Moon, didn't make it to series. There's plenty here to enjoy...
Once upon a time, you couldn't sneeze in the summer without hitting some sort of made-for-tv movie. Sometimes, they'd be specially made for the purpose of airing. Sometimes, they'd just be unused pilots that happened to be edited into a two-hour block to fill a little airtime. For every The Night Stalker, there was a Steel Magnolias, K-9 And Company, or a Riding With Death (which went on to fame via Mystery Science Theater 3000). In other words, the TV movie pilot doesn't always work out all that well. However, you have to give SyFy credit for trying to make something out of nothing with High Moon, the television pilot version of John Christopher's novel The Lotus Caves.

Tonight, Americans have the choice between watching Dancing with the Stars, Monday Night Football, and … a SyFy movie with gay Russian spies on the moon. Curious? You’re not alone: SyFy executives thought the same thing of Bryan Fuller’s newest creation, High Moon. For four years, Fuller and the channel entered into an on-again, off-again relationship. At first it was a pilot, then a miniseries, then back to a pilot, then back to… you get the idea.
“ecause of how strange the development process was at the network, I don’t think anybody was surprised [that it wasn't made into a series],” Fuller said. “Right before we were ordered,...

When last we talked about High Moon, an adaptation of John Christopher's novel The Lotus Caves by Bryan Fuller ("Hannibal"), it was being called a pilot; but now it seems to be just another in the network's long line of Original Movies.
High Moon, starring Jake Sandvig, Chris Diamantopoulos, Jonathan Tucker, and Charity Wakefield, tells of a group who arrive on the moon and realize they've got company... and they Don't come in peace!
Adam Kane ("Being Human") directed the script penned by co-executive producer Jim Danger Gray ("Pushing Daisies") from a story adaptation written by Fuller and Gray.
The film airs on Monday, September 15th, at 9/8c on Syfy. Check out the trailer and a still below.

A few years back, "Hannibal" and "Dead Like Me" show runner Bryan Fuller crafted a pilot for Syfy based on John Christopher‘s 1969 sci-fi novel "The Lotus Caves".
Fuller's adaptation never got picked up to series, but now Syfy is slated to show the 90-minute series premiere which has been repurposed as a TV movie that will air later this month. To tease the telemovie, the network has just posted the first five minutes of the pilot-turned-telemovie online at TV Line.
Jonathan Tucker, Jake Sandvig, Chris Diamantopoulos, and Charity Wakefield star in the series which is set on the Earth's moon which is now home to numerous mining colonies. Chaos erupts when a new life form is revealed.
Jim Danger Gray ("Hannibal," "Torchwood") wrote the script and Adam Kane ("Pushing Daisies") directed the work. Funnily enough this marks the second failed pilot of Fuller's to be turned into a telemovie event,...

Could a seemingly innocent 15-year-old girl be the prime suspect of savage murders taking place in town? The answer could be ‘yes’ if she’s possessed by a demon like Regan was in The Exorcist. In NBC’s upcoming exorcism drama, The Possession of Maggie Gill, two detectives will explore the primal and perilous effects of paranormal activity surrounding a teenager.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC has committed to a script for Amblin Television’s The Possession of Maggie Gill. John Glenn (The Lazarus Project) will handle scripting duties and will also executive produce alongside Adam Kane and Amblin’s Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey, and Harris Fishman. We have the show’s official synopsis (courtesy of THR!):
“Maggie centers on the Gills, a loving a middle-class family in Eugene, Ore., who find themselves in the midst of crisis when paranormal occurrences begin to affect the everyday fabric of their home.

Falling Skies' family melodrama is never its strongest suit, and this week's episode is chock-full of it...
This review contains spoilers.
4.10 Drawing Straws
Falling Skies works best when it's blasting aliens and having fun with its sci-fi, or when it dabbles in horror elements to try to be creepy. The Mason family drama is not the show's strongest suit, though it has worked at times in the past. This week, however, the Mason squabbling throws a spanner into the works and detracts from some very good special affects on the beamer ships. Lexi travels to the Dianetics commercial lava world, overhears an alien plot, and destroys some valuable alien hardware in her return to the good side, but we spend much more time listening to people bicker than we do watching Lexi turn good and kill some fish heads
Tom bickers with Anne about his inability to let anyone else be the hero,...

24: Live Another Day, Season 1, Episode 4: “2:00 Pm – 3:00Pm”
Written by Patrick Harbinson
Directed by Adam Kane
Airs Mondays at 9pm (Et) on Fox
One of the reasons 24‘s original run came to an end is that it was no longer original. It was running out of ideas and ways to tells stories without introducing moles, double-agents, and inorganic obstacles for Jack Bauer. What 24: Live Another Day has managed to do, so far, is use familiar elements from the show and present them in a fresh way. While it doesn’t completely revitalize the franchise, it’s brought a solidly entertaining action-thriller back to the schedule.
We’ve seen many times that Jack is willing to do whatever it takes — including sacrificing himself — for the greater good. We’ve seen him take hostages before, notably in Season 4, when he held up a convenience store to stop a suspect from escaping.

24: Live Another Day, Season 1, Episode 3: “1:00 Pm – 2:00 Pm”
Written by Sang Kyu Kim & Patrick Somerville
Directed by Adam Kane
Airs Mondays at 9pm (Et) on Fox
After a frantic two-hour premiere in which we barely stopped to breathe, the season’s third hour is a much more taut and streamlined affair. There’s plenty of action, but the focus is on pushing the plot forward. Jack is hunting the young lady who we saw take off with the drone override at the end of last week, Kate uses her interrogation nous to get closer to Jack, and Chloe has a startling reveal that explains much of why she’s an outsider.
After finding the location of Derrick and his murderous girlfriend, Jack is chasing her on the London Underground. This leads to a neat moment for Emily Berrington as Simone Al-Harazi manages to weasel her way out...

Another month, another installment in Dead Rising 3’s “Untold Stories of Los Perdidos.” Last month’s “Operation Broken Eagle” was a fun-but-flawed addition to the game, focusing not on new series hero Nick Ramos, but on the stunningly generic special ops soldier Adam Kane, which stripped almost all of the personality from a lighthearted game and made it grim and gritty…and not really in a good way. However, it still deserved a look simply for being more Dead Rising 3, flawed or not.
Unfortunately, the trend continues in the second “Untold Story,” the ominously titled “Fallen Angel.” Going to the opposite side of the coin, the “illegal” Angel Quijano is the focal point, and this Dlc seems to fall into similar issues as its predecessors, but in a completely different way.

Much like its predecessors, Dead Rising 3 has a slew of Dlc planned to expand the already beefy amount of content that it holds. Unlike the previous games, whose Dlc was primarily new costumes and weapons, the soon-to-be-quartet of new content packs, called “The Untold Stories of Los Perdidos,” offer up new stories and new characters, each with their own missions that run parallel to the main tale of Nick Ramos’ escape from the doomed city.
The first of these packs, “Operation Broken Eagle,” follows Spec Ops Commander Adam Kane (real creative naming, guys) as he tries to bring in the President under orders from General Hemlock in order to further the General’s agenda. This immediately paints Kane in a less-than-positive light, as players who have finished DR3’s main campaign know just how treacherous Hemlock is and what the President’s capture means to the zombie crisis. However, much like Kane himself,...

With its seemingly endless supply of shambling brain-eaters and counteracting weaponry, Dead Rising 3 is arguably the best next-generation video game thus far. As such, the recent release of brand new, story-based Dlc for the game is big news within the industry and its consumer base. That’s for good reason, though, given just how well-made and insanely enjoyable Capcom Vancouver’s sandbox zombie epic ended up being.
Following a month-long delay, yesterday brought with it the debut of Operation Broken Eagle, the first of four planned episodic expansions for the campy, horror-based title. Ushering in a stand-alone menu selection called the Untold Stories of Los Perdidos, said add-on introduced veteran zombie killers to a new protagonist in the form of Spec Ops Commander Adam Kane.
Written in as an anti-hero of sorts, Commander Kane is part of a military sect that has been given controversial orders involving the President of the United States.

The two-hour Sleepy Hollow season finale is very difficult to write about due to the sheer amount of plot twists in the episode’s last fifteen minutes alone. Alex Kurtzman and Mark Goffman have been seeding little clues throughout the season, and they all pay off in a huge way in “The Indispensable Man” and “Bad Blood”. Even though its off-beat takes on American history and Christianity keep Sleepy Hollow entertaining, its biggest strength as a show has been its focus on personal relationships in the face of a larger struggle between good and evil. Throughout both episodes, Sleepy Hollow‘s writers explore the connection...
