What better way can there be to celebrate ‘100 Years of Indian Cinema’ than to bring the best and aesthetically diverse Bollywood directors together for one movie!?
Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Flying Unicorn have done just that with ‘Bombay Talkies’ – a 80 minute film that is the amalgamation of four 20-minute short films directed by four directors – the trailer of which is all set to release at 6pm today.
Speaking on the Bombay Talkies collaboration Karan Johar says, “Bombay Talkies is to celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema. It has four directors – Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap, Dibankar Banerjee and myself. We are all making a 20-minute short film each. It is a different film and definitely what holds all these four films together is the passion for Indian cinema.”
Each short-film has a distinct core and tells a different story.

It’s been another Bollywonderful week – they buzz for Jannat 2 is strong – it’s a very engaging movie and the chemistry between Emraan Hashmi and Randeep Hooda is very strong! Emran was over the moon when we told him he’s the first hero to have three consecutive blockbusters in a row. He is still very unassuming and believes he can only succeed if the script and direction is right. When we joked about who is the best kisser in Bollywood he laughed and whispered that it has to be him! Emran is looking forward to the release of Shanghai opposite Abhay Deol and says his fans will see him in a different light. One thing Emran does want to do is plan for a long awaited holiday with his family in Europe where he will switch his phone off for two weeks and be “normal” for a while.

Karan, the co-proprietor of Badmaash Company, who arrives in the theatres today, takes us back to the swinging '90s when matinee idols like the Bollywood Khans, Aamir, Shah Rukh and Salman, ruled the marquee. "They still do," Shahid Kapoor is quick to point out.A few weeks ago, Parmeet Sethi, the director of Badmaash Company, had admitted that his elder son had come expecting to be bored through 18 reels of a typical Hindi potboiler. There's a bit of Beverly Hills 90210 too.And then of course, the carrot-chewing detective Karamchand from the good old telly,...
