Eric Bana’s latest role as real-life NYPD Officer Ralph Sarchie finds the accomplished Aussie actor firmly entrenched in a world where evil goes way beyond the typical street crime and routine arrest. As a cop with South Bronx's 46th Precinct in the Nineties, Sarchie had seen it all...
But it was his involvement with cases concerning the occult the revealed his true purpose.
On a rainy night on location in the Bronx way back in July of 2013, Dread Central and a few other outlets had the chance to speak to Bana (fittingly, inside an old church) about the responsibility of telling Sarchie’s story in a believable way.
Dread Central: So it sounds like you’ve been dealing with quite a bit of prosthetics and other things like that on this film. How has that experience been?
Eric Bana: No, not for me. Not too bad. I mean,...

(Cbr) As a writer and director, Scott Derrickson has distinguished himself with versatility and ambition, even when working in the same genre. From "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" to "Sinister" to now "Deliver Us From Evil," there’s a sophistication and a uniqueness to these projects; in fact, the only element they really share is that they’re genuinely scary. Perhaps it’s that quality that brought Derrickson to the attention of Marvel, which has tapped him to direct "Doctor Strange." With his latest project in particular, Derrickson finds himself in the catbird seat as he is poised to take advantage of the success of last year’s "The Conjuring" with a film that promises to chill audiences while managing to communicate a clear, proficient voice behind the camera. Based on a true story, "Deliver Us From Evil" stars Eric Bana as Ralph Sarchie, a Bronx cop who’s pulled...

The Losers was a film overlooked by most. Granted, it’s not a great film by any means, but it is entertaining. It has flaws (many flaws) but it does one thing very well: provides a fun, action-packed and, at times, truly funny experience. Despite its all-too-short runtime of 90 minutes, the film is well worth the watch.
Revolving around five soldiers who are betrayed while on on a mission in Bolivia by a mysterious man named Max (Jason Patric), the team of soldiers, led by Clay (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), decide that they should fake their deaths and take revenge.
The crew is made up of the aforementioned Clay, Jensen (Chris Evans), Roque (Idris Elba), Pooch (Columbus Short) and Cougar (Oscar Jaenada). Also along for the ride is Aisha, played by the always stunning Zoe Saldana. Along with providing eye candy, she also joins the team in their hunt for Max.

“I’m sure Sergio will be reviewing it any minute…”
Why Tambay must have telepathy! I was just about to post something about it when I read what he said. Yes I’ve seen it and basically it’s a mess. O.K. here’s the deal. Every time one of these comic book movies comes out, I see it as a form of payback for past sins.
You see, when I was growing up No One read comic books. Only pussies read comic books. We read Playboy and porn, not f—-g comic books. You got caught reading one, it was a sure way to get your ass beat. So now I’m getting payback from all those nerds I tormented in high school and have to suffer though films like this.
The major problem is that director Sylvain White, unlike Matthew Vaughn in Kick Ass, can’t find...

Serviceable holiday romp thrives on cast
Is it really a cynical gesture to cast Hispanics in the reunion holiday-comedy staple and call it new? It doesn’t have to be, and it isn’t really in Nothing Like the Holidays, the cheerfully broad new comedy about a Puerto Rican family whose grown children return to Chicago for Christmas. The conventions of these films have become so streamlined that each new title is clearly an attempt to cash in on the goodwill of the season, and this risk-free, harmless movie’s rewrite of the usual formula is no more dishonorable than any of the annual offenders.

"Nothing Like the Holidays"by Steve Ramos, Writer 'Nothing Like the Holidays' Delivers Stockings Stuffed with Laughter Bickering families are a holiday tradition both on-screen and off. Which makes the Christmas antics of the Rodriguez family in the easygoing and likable comedy "Nothing Like the Holidays" a solid addition to an audience-friendly genre that includes "Home for the Holidays," "The Family Stone" and the current fan favorite "Four Christmases." The ethnic twist from director Aldredo De Villa ("Adrift in Manhattan") and writers Alison Swan, Ted Perkins-Lopez and Rick Najera is placing the story around the home of a Puerto Rican family in Chicago's working-class Humboldt Park neighborhood. Granted, the Mexican soap opera-inspired "Ugly Betty" is a hit sitcom for ABC and its lead actress America Ferrera has become a recognizable face. Yet, it remains rare for Latinos to receive the full spotlight treatment, especially in a mainstream comedy like "Nothing Like the Holidays.
