Stephen King is one of the greatest authors of our time, and it was his novel Carrie that set him on the path to fame. Over the years, he has published several works that have won him critical acclaim. Some of his works have also been adapted into films, which speaks volumes about his skills.
King has been in this profession much longer than other writers of this genre have been alive. As morbid as it might sound, Carrie has reached a special milestone this year, and the author could not have been prouder.

Exclusive: Bohemia Group has optioned film rights to Stephen King’s bestseller The Regulators, tapping George Cowan to adapt the Western horror-thriller for the big screen.
First published by Dutton in 1996, The Regulators is the story of the peaceful suburban life on Poplar Street in Wentworth, Ohio that is shattered one fine day when four vans containing shotgun-wielding “regulators” terrorize the street’s residents, cold-bloodedly killing anyone foolish enough to venture outdoors. Houses mysteriously transform into log cabins and the street now ends in what looks like a child’s hand-drawn western landscape. Masterminding this sudden onslaught is an evil creature who has taken over the body of an autistic boy whose parents were killed in a drive-by shooting several months earlier.
The film adaptation of The Regulators is being shepherded by Bohemia Group’s Executive Vice-President, producer Justin Ross, who helped develop the King-approved script with Cowan.

When your partner is a celebrity, you share him or her with the world.
That's the hard lesson that Lisey Landon learned on Lisey's Story Season 1 Episode 1 and Lisey's Story Season 1 Episode 2.
Lisey has her memories of her dead husband, Scott, a famed novelist. But also, her family members and his fans have their own versions of Scott in their heads.
This eight-part Apple TV+ limited series is based on the 2006 Stephen King novel.
Suggested by some to be an ode to King's wife and fellow author Tabitha King, the horror master has called this blend of romance and psychology horror his favorite among his works.
"Lisey's Story" had its beginnings in June 1999, when King was seriously injured after being hit by a van while out walking near his summer home in Maine.
While he was hospitalized, Tabitha neatened up his studio. When King saw all his documents boxed up upon returning home,...

After an almost 50-year career, Stephen King has penned more than 65 books (sometimes publishing three in the same calendar year) and more than 200 short stories, making him arguably the most prolific author of our time. But when it came to adaptations of his work, he mostly wanted to leave those to (as he puts it) “film people” and “TV people” — until just a few years ago, when he caught “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” on FX.
“Tom Rob Smith wrote every episode [of that limited series],” he recalls. “I watched that show and said, ‘This is absolutely fucking fantastic and maybe I could do that with “Lisey’s [Story].”‘”
“Lisey’s Story” is King’s 2006 novel that centers on the eponymous widow of a prolific author, who has to mine her memories of her love story and her husband’s tragic past, as well as his special sanctuary (Boo’ya Moon) to save...

“Behind every great man is a great woman,” as the saying goes, and when he wrote Lisey’s Story, Stephen King wanted to pay tribute to his wife, Tabitha. While King claims the book isn’t a replica of his own personal life, he’s made it clear that Lisey’s Story was also, in some ways, Tabitha King’s story. On […]

This week, Joe Hill (born Joseph Hillstrom King) released his fourth book, a 700-page horror story called NOS4A2. In March, his brother, Owen King, published his first novel, Double Feature, about a young filmmaker grappling with disappointment after his first movie falls apart. The two books couldn't be more different, but what their authors have in common, of course, is that their parents are Stephen and Tabitha King. Vulture spoke with the guys about their writing approaches, how they've learned to evade (and live with) their parents' shadows, and who beat up whom as a kid.Owen, aren’t you doing an event in Joe’s area? Owen King: Yeah, I’m doing something at River Run Books in Portsmouth [New Hampshire]. Joe Hill: I’m sorry I’m not gonna get to see it: He’s doing a scene that involves an extended description of masturbating with dish soap,...

Stephen King teamed up with his son, Joe Hill, for In the Tall Grass. The short story originally appeared in Esquire this summer and is now making it’s way to eBook and audiobook formats.
“Mile 81 meets “N.” in this collaboration between Stephen King and his son Joe Hill.
As USA Today said of Stephen King’s Mile 81: “Park and scream. Could there be any better place to set a horror story than an abandoned rest stop?” In the Tall Grass begins with a sister and brother who pull off to the side of the road after hearing a young boy crying for help from beyond the tall grass. Within minutes they are disoriented, in deeper than seems possible, and they’ve lost one another. The boy’s cries are more and more desperate. What follows is a terrifying, entertaining, and masterfully told tale, as only Stephen King and Joe Hill can deliver.

Author Stephen King announced last month that his Bangor, Maine radio station would try to raise $70,000 in donations from listeners that would go towards paying for heating fuel for low-income residents, and that his Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation would match it.
In a telephone interview with Bangor Daily News, King said, “This economy is terrible and Tabitha and I both worry so much about Bangor because it truly is a working-class town and we are always looking for ways to help.”
The newspaper reported that the federal government is expected to cut back over $30 million in heating assistance in Maine this year. The stark advice coming from Bangor’s community services is not false hope in getting help to fill oil tanks, but rather on how to stay safe in a cold house, avoiding fire risks and carbon monoxide poisoning, and recommending moving in with friends or family in order to survive this winter.

When I first heard of Joe Hill, some five years ago, my first thought was of the dedication page in one of my favorite novels, Stephen King’s The Shining: This is for Joe Hill King, who shines on. My second thought: Nah. Probably not him.
“Pop Art,” a heart-breaking slice of magical realism about a balloon boy, was being discussed in reverential tones among those who had read it, and his short-fiction collection, 20th Century Ghosts, was, some said, a revelation. Despite the accolades, I wasn’t in a mad rush to read Hill’s writing. In small press Horror circles, high praise sometimes comes a little easier than it should, and is not always to be trusted.
“Have you read Joe Hill?” asked a friend of mine, sounding a little like a Sutter Kane convert from John Carpenter’s In the Mouth of Madness.

Joe Hill is rapidly becoming one of the best horror authors working, and the fact that he splits his attention between novels, short stories, and comics is just one more reason to be impressed at his output. Of course, if your dad was Stephen King and your mother was Tabitha King and you spent much of your childhood playing writing games as a family (something Stephen King has written about in his own work), you'd probably stand at least a small chance of developing into a writer of substance, too. The thing I love about Hill's work is that he doesn't...

In 1974, not long after selling both Carrie and 'Salem's Lot (both set in his home state of Maine), Stephen King wanted a change of scenery for his next novel. Randomly picking Boulder out of an atlas, King packed up his wife (novelist Tabitha King) and their kids and moved to Colorado. After trying out a few ideas (one of which was Darkshine, about a psychic little boy in a haunted amusement park), none of which worked, King and his wife decided to take a little vacation away from the children. At the behest of a friend, they decided to check out The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, near the base of Rocky Mountain National Park. Checking in on Halloween weekend, King and his wife were nearly turned away. It was the last day of the season, the hotel was closing down for the winter, the credit card slips had...
