A new episode of The Manson Brothers Show, the video series hosted by the writers/stars of the horror comedy The Manson Brothers Midnight Zombie Massacre – Chris Margetis (Stone Manson) and Mike Carey (Skull Manson) – has now been released, and in this one the Boys are looking back at the film that changed the definition of what “zombies” could be: George A. Romero‘s 1968 classic Night of the Living Dead (watch it Here)! This is the film I have watched more times than any other, but to find out what the Manson Brothers think of it, check out the video embedded above!
Directed by Romero from a screenplay he wrote with John A. Russo, Night of the Living Dead has the following synopsis: A disparate group of individuals takes refuge in an abandoned house when corpses begin to leave the graveyard in search of fresh human bodies to devour. The...

In the mid-1960s, George Romero planned to make his feature debut with Whine of the Fawn, a drama about two teenagers in the Middle Ages. If he'd pitched a body-swap comedy about middle-aged teenagers, he'd perhaps have had more luck. As it was, his high-minded, "Bergman-esque" project failed to attract investors and the 27-year-old college dropout from the Bronx, now shooting commercials and industrials in Pittsburgh, turned his attention to horror.
A fan of the ghoulish EC Comics and monster movies of the 1950s, and heavily influenced by Richard Matheson's apocalyptic, home-invasion vampire novel I Am Legend, Romero scraped together $114,000 to shoot a Diy cannibal flick entitled Night of the Flesh Eaters. Set over a single night in a Pittsburgh farmhouse, it posited an America inexplicably overrun by resurrected corpses munching on human entrails, and threw together a band of scrabbling, squabbling survivors who hole up in a...

Between doing server switches and freaking out my fellow Fango staffers (and countless others) with my love of Joe Dante's Gremlins this week, a bunch of news rolled in that we didn't get a chance to cover for you in the past few days. It feels so good to be home. Not that La was bad or anything, but I'm glad to be around my local compadres and sleep in my own bed.
From June 5-7, the Fango staff and I took over the Jacob Javits Center on Manhattan's West Side and immersed ourselves in the glory that is the Weekend of Horrors (New York Style!!).
I started off the weekend helping to set up the booth. It's amazing the random things that happen at these conventions. I'm just standing there and who’s behind me, John Russo, writer of Night Of The Living Dead. I have to say, I usually do not get star struck... but I mean its John Russo. I wrote a thesis on Notld. This film is one of my favorites of all time. For me to get a chance to shake Mr. Russo's hand is mind boggling. After getting...

Somehow the gay scheduling gods and the horror scheduling gods saw fit to allow Fango’s NYC Weekend Of Horrors and NewFest: The New York Lgbt Film Festival to overlap this year. Which meant that I got to fly to NYC for both the world premiere of my latest gay thriller, Pornography, and some good, fanboy geekout.
The downside to film fests and conventions is - I really hate crowds. I’m a very shy person, believe it or not, and being dropped into a crowd of people I don’t know is pretty much torture. (Strangely, I love to talk in front of a crowd.) I’ve learned to handle it because I have to, but… blech. So I have to give big ups to Alan Rowe Kelly, Bart Mastronardi and Jerry Murdock for letting me tag along all weekend.

Ok, ok…so everyone and their brother are going to write about their experience this past weekend – oh and to clear it up – I am referring to our just-wrapped Fangoria's Weekend of Horrors – located in my great hometown of New York City!
I’ve blogged a few times but never was it about me me Me! So I have that right, don’t I?
Well, it all started when I was born – only kidding of course. It all started on Friday night which was a real bummer for me as I looked forward to the event All fucking week and then found out that the doors were not to open until 5pm. And to make matters worse, I had my short films scheduled at 6. Conflict right there and then. You see, I was lucky enough to (for lack of a better word) “anchor” the webcast and doing that is just...
