James Krüss was born in 1926 on the isle Heligoland. He served in the
Luftwaffe during world war II and studied pedagogics in Munich after
the war had ended. Influenced by Erich Kästner he started writing children's
books. In 1960 the author moved to Gran Canaria (Spain).
