Sypher Studios and Fieldhouse Productions are producing. Sypher Studios and Fieldhouse Productions are producing, and will release in association with Global Lyme Alliance. Variety has an exclusive first look at the trailer below.
The project follows three families, as well as WNBA star Elena Delle Donne, battling the disease and the eye-popping costs that treatment and diagnoses impose on patients. The doc was inspired by executive producer Kim Cleworth (“Exposure”) and her family’s journey.
“After six long years of chronic, debilitating illness, my daughter Atty was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2019,” said Cleworth, founder of Fieldhouse.

Sundance has canceled plans for its New Frontier program at the 2023 festival, the boundary-pushing section that has showcased experimental new works for 15 years. During that time, New Frontier anticipated industry-wide interest in the metaverse and other emerging technologies while catalyzing the curation of creativity in VR and Ar at festivals around the world.
The 2023 festival also will not host its digital social space or the online venue known as The Spaceship, where badgeholders can interact as avatars and watch showcased works.
As the festival prepares to hold its first in-person edition in two years, New Frontier was never part of those in-person plans. Instead, the festival planned it as an exclusively virtual event and has been accepting submissions for months. In October, artists who submitted projects received a notice from New Frontier chief curator Shari Frilot informing them that they would be reimbursed for submission fees.

Interactive and immersive storytelling has taken many forms over the years, from virtual reality to artificial intelligence. While the entertainment industry professes its excitement over the possibilities of the metaverse, the film and TV worlds tend to sideline emerging media. Don’t expect much talk about it at this year’s Oscar ceremony.
When experimental storytelling projects are acknowledged by awards bodies, they tend to be pigeonholed into generic groups that don’t fully describe the work at hand. Last year, the Emmys’ “Interactive Media” included everything from Baobob Studios’ VR project “Baba Yaga” (which won) to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for an Ar component available to home viewers. In 2020, the prize went to “Jeopardy!” for an interactive game.
The Peabody Awards is taking an ambitious step forward to address that shortcoming by adding 12 new awards for Digital and Interactive Storytelling alongside four special awards to leaders in the field.
