King of rock and roll Elvis Presley had secretly dropped by a screening of his own movie to heckle himself. The ‘Jailhouse rock’ hitmaker was friends with singer Johnny Lang during his two years of military service and the 88-year-old veteran has fond memories of his “funny as heck” pal hurling insults at the screen when they went to watch his 1958 musical “King Creole”, reports aceshowbiz.com.
“People don’t realise that he was funny as heck. Elvis yelled out, ‘This guy can’t act! He can’t even sing! I can’t believe he’s on screen.’ Somebody shouted, ‘Would you mind shutting up?’ Nobody knew it was him,” Johnny told America’s Closer magazine.
Johnny, who has penned a memoir called “My Army Days with Elvis: Friendship, Football and Follies”, hit it off with the ‘Blue Suede Shoes’ hitmaker on their first meeting and quickly became part of...

Peter Green, who cofounded Fleetwood Mac and led it through its early, blues-based years, has died at age 73, his solicitors have confirmed.
The statement from Swan Turton solicitors said: “It is with great sadness that the family of Peter Green announce his death this weekend, peacefully in his sleep. A further statement will be provided in the coming days”.
Guitarist Green formed Fleetwood Mac with drummer Mick Fleetwood in London in 1967. However, he left the group following a final performance in 1970 amid mental health issues.
Green was diagnosed with schizophrenia and spent time undergoing electro-convulsive therapy (Ect) during the mid-1970’s.
He was among the eight members of Fleetwood Mac, including Mick Fleetwood. Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, John McVie, Christine McVie, Danny Kirwan and Jeremy Spencer, who were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.

Weird, isn’t it? As played out as the shoe-throwing had gotten by the end of The Voice last season, I actually thought I’d miss it when I tuned in to Monday’s Season 14 premiere. (Hey, I acknowledged that it was weird!) But nah, the episode zipped along, energized by the return of Alicia Keys and the addition of not only new coach Kelly Clarkson (funny as hell) but also the Block (a feature that allows coaches to prevent a rival from nabbing one and only one contestant).

From rocker chic to pretty princess, Bindi Irwin sure is versatile. Though she was nervous about ditching her signature khaki for Dancing With the Stars, the 17-year-old wildlife expert sure is taking to her glam new wardrobe quite nicely. In the spring of 2010, the band Carney had just released its first full-length album, Mr. Green Vol. 1, and its guitarist, Reeve Carney, who’d been playing guitar professionally since his teens and had played rhythm guitar in bluesman Jonny Lang's band in his early 20s, seemed on the verge of making it as a rocker. Then he put his guitar away and donned a mask and some tights.Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark may have been plagued by cost overruns, injuries, and lawsuits, but for nearly its entire controversy-plagued run beginning in November 2010, Carney as Peter Parker/Spider-Man was a symbol of constancy. The rest of his band, including his brother Zane, played the music Bono and the Edge had written for the production. When Carney finally took off the Spidey suit last September, he was at a crossroads — actor or musician ... or both? Zane, who’d been a...

U.S. presidents have typically stayed out of the "who is going to win 'American Idol'" fray in the past in order to avoid upsetting any voting blocs. But that doesn't mean that foreign dignitaries can't offer up their two cents.

Hollie Cavanagh got the ultimate compliment after the "American Idol" Top 9 performance show, during which she sang a tune from her ultimate idol, Carrie Underwood.
Underwood tweeted at the singer after she watched the performance, "You were amazing tonight! You meant every word...made me teary-eyed. I'm honored you picked my song to sing!"
The rest of the finalists hoped to hear from their idols too. Cavanagh's roommate, Skylar Laine, tells Zap2it that she desperately wants a tweet from her idol, Miranda Lambert, but fears that won't happen considering Lambert is married to "The Voice" coach Blake Shelton.
"I want Miranda to tweet me! She won't do it," Laine tells Zap2it. "Blake, let Miranda tweet me, please! I just want her to notice me. I hope she loves it. I hope I did her proud. I hope she enjoys it, because I really want to do that song on the tour.

Top nine take on their idols, with surprising results. Who soared? Who sunk? Here are our grades!

We can all probably agree that the highlight of Wednesday night's "American Idol" was Jason Derülo's bedazzled neck brace, which shone brighter than a dozen Jessica Sanchezes and had more charisma than an army of Hollie Cavanaghs.
But alas, we can't give out grades based on style alone, which means that once again, we're forced to focus on the singing. And luckily, said singing was actually pretty spot-on this week, as the top nine took on the songs of their idols, leading to some genuine "goosies" moments (thanks, J.Lo) and more standing ovations than the State of the Union address.
Sure, there were the usual assortment of middling performances, too ... but for one night at least, "Idol" was back to its old compelling self.

Anyone who takes on Mariah Carey or Beyonce Knowles is pretty ballsy, but the "American Idol" contestants stepped up to the plate ... and knocked it out of the park. The hopefuls were tasked with singing songs by *their* idols. Joshua Ledet took on Mariah Carey's hit "Without You" and delivered such a soulful, emotional performance that even he got choked up.Others delivered strong performances as well. Heejun Han redeemed himself by dropping the schtick and showcasing his silky smooth vocals with "A Song For You." Phillip Phillips, who guest mentor Stevie Nicks called "gorgeous," also got a standing ovation from the judges with his version of Jonny Lang's "Still Rainin.'" But the most unexpected performance of the night came from Elise Testone, who closed the show rocking out to Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love."After a night of sensational singing, who do you think will be sent home?...

It frightens me to think about American Idol contestants and their "heroes." Can't you imagine a youngster like Joshua Ledet swooning over The Pussycat Dolls and claiming he's listened to them since he was three? "My momma would tuck me in and sing 'Stickwitu' until I fell asleep! That's why I understand Soul!" Can't you picture Skylar Laine raising a Playskool lighter to the sky and proclaiming her undying devotion to Lady Antebellum? Can't you picture Hollie Cavanagh gloating over her love of... Lady Antebellum? Look, I was really scared that Lady Antebellum was going to come up. But it didn't. Phew. Still, some of the contestants' actual choices weren't much better -- even if most performances this week were really-effing-great.

It was a “night of redemption” on American Idol, said Ryan Seacrest. Or, as Steven Tyler put it, “a magical mystery tour of over-the-top talent and emotion.” Then again, from my living-room couch, it was more like “a night when even middling guys got standing ovations from the judges, while the best ladies received ‘praise’ with a side of vague ennui, until it came down to, ‘Oh, okay, I guess we’ll get off our lazy butts for Elise.’”
To be fair, Season 11′s Top 9 telecast was pretty damn stellar, one of the best Idol performance nights in recent memory.

Okay, maybe not, but at least that’s the lasting impression American Idol wanted us to have after Thursday’s St. Louis auditions. The episode was framed as a Carrie Underwood tribute (the Oklahoma native had auditioned there), so naturally the final contestant of the night was a friendly down-home gal with a killer voice.
“Eight years ago Carrie Underwood launched her career in St. Louis,” boomed Seacrest. “Maybe this is the start for Lauren Gray.”
Jennifer Lopez said the 22-year-old Arkansas singer had “one of the best female voices we’ve heard.” Was it? I thought Lauren’s rendition...

As I sit here with my cup of tea and sort through the interwebs to start my day, I notice that it's apparently snowing in large sections of the country today. Yeah, it's all pretty and novel now, but in a few weeks when it's all grey slush on the side of the road that freezes overnight to try and make you slip (yes, snow has evil intentions, just trust me here) you won't be so chipper about it. Me? I'm just annoyed that it's a bit too chilly to wear flip flops in North Cuba today. Here's your Monday night TV:
8:00pm: "90210" on The CW
"American Country Awards" on Fox. Wait, didn't the Cmt awards air a couple weeks ago on ABC? How many Country music oriented awards shows are there?
"How I Met Your Mother" on CBS
"Little People, Big World" on Tlc
"The Sing-Off" on NBC.

I don't normally go see cover acts, mostly because of the constant belly aching from my friends in "real" bands about how those "Freebird" playing yahoos are always taking money out of their pockets. And after getting burned one too many times by lame tribute acts (Ok, just that once, but you know who you are and you should be ashamed!), I was wary of the "Experience Hendrix" tribute tour because I love Jimi Hendrix and refuse to let some hack ruin him for me.
But with a lineup that includes Jimi's original Band of Gypsys and Experience bassist Billy Cox, guitar wizards Steve Vai, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jonny Lang, Aerosmith's Brad Whitford, Eric Johnson and Robert Randolph, in addition to Living Colour, members of Los Lobos, Ernie Isley, Susan Tedeschi and former Stevie Ray Vaughan drummer Chris Layton, you kind of couldn't lose, right? Morning Meme: The "World" Stops Turning, Fox News Attacks Will Phillips, and Brian Burke Made Me Cry
Plus you can dress like Lafayette, visit Wipeout's Big Balls, and was Little Fockers really necessary?
A moment of silence, because the world has stopped turning. Thursday was the last taping of As the World Turns, even though the final episode doesn’t air until September.
Speaking of As the World Turns, fans of Van Hansis are starting early this year raising funds to donate in Van’s name to Walnut Hill School for the Arts.
When I next start to complain about my life, I’ll think about Rick Oliver. Actually, I’ll probably still complain but I’ll feel bad about it, because Oliver was struck by lightning, and a few weeks ago was mauled by a bear.
I’ll be honest, reading Vanity Fair’s review of the Audi Q7, I kept hearing bow-chica-bow-wow music, because it reads like the script from an adult film. This may...

It got contentious in the boardroom on last night's "The Celebrity Apprentice" between Holly Robinson Peete and Cyndi Lauper, with Cyndi coming out on the short end of the stick when Donald Trump uttered the dreaded words, "Cyndi, you're fired." For Cyndi, there was no sorrow in hearing them. She had had enough. The morning after she says, "I didn't want to participate in that kind of thing any more with Holly. It was too much. Sometimes there is a lot of backstabbing. I like to be straight ahead. I couldn't do it anymore." That said, Cyndi has no regrets that she took part in "The Celebrity Apprentice." For one thing, it reconnected her with Sharon Osbourne; for another, she feels she got an education in how to work with different kinds of people. "I still would keep my demeanor of being very straightforward," she says. "That show got a little too talk-behind-your-back.

Having to choose between posting an interview with Jonny Lang--whose burning new concert album Live At The Ryman will be released this Tuesday--or an interview with DJ Steve Porter on his collaboration with Perry Farrell and a reworking of the Entourage theme song, a coin was flipped. Strangely, it rolled under the couch, lost forever amidst petrified pizza crusts, empty Tab and Fresca cans, missing socks, and layers of something fuzzy that Hazmat units have repeatedly refused to go near. Still, a decision had to be made. With there being barely enough infinite space on Huffington Post's entertainment page to accommodate this much virtual print, shadow governments were contacted, corporations were restructured, planes were rerouted, and just minutes later, no deal was reached. Solution? Internet physics be damned. So, the following are the intact Lang and Porter pieces, now presented...

"American Idol" Season 5 finalist Bucky Covington just released his first single, "A Father's Love," off his sophomore album "I'm Alright," due out later this year.
He talks to Zap2it about his music, still being in touch with his fellow Idols and what he thinks of comparisons between himself and this year's "Idol" finalist Casey James.
Tell us about the new album, "I'm Alright."
One thing I just absolutely love about country music is the variety of it. I have a song on there, "Hold a Woman," that is very soulful, my "sexy side," if you will. Then we've got "Evel Knievel" that is a fist-pumping party song. The title song "I'm Alright" is about how you broke up and then got drunk and then end up showing up on her doorstep to see if she's okay. I absolutely love that song.
And what about your first single, "A Father's Love?...

It has been five days since America took a machete to the seriously talented people on "American Idol," but as is always the case with this insane show, you just have to accept the results and move on. (Says the man who spent the day watching Katelyn Epperly's "The Scientist" on repeat. While clutching a homemade Allison Iraheta plush doll. And weeping.)
But we have a brand new Top 12 to (Ford) focus on. And, as it turns out, a brand new "Idol" stage which ... um ... looked exactly like last year's "Idol" stage. I'll give anyone five bucks if they can tell me how light-up stairs, giant screens on the floor and an elevated band equals "new."
On Tuesday night (March 16), the Rolling Stones offered up their classics to be Idolized. For those of you keeping score at home, the Beatles had two (!) dedicated theme weeks in 2008. In the eternal Beatles vs.

Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Live DVD - Review
One of the things that hits you about the midway point when watching this set is that this has to be one of the greatest live “Best Of” compilations ever put to DVD. The luminaries of rock and roll that appear within this presentation is enough to make it a worthwhile purchase for yourself but certainly is something that ought to be considered a solid gift for anyone who appreciates a wide spectrum of music.

Jonas Brothers recently opened up to MTV that they want to do a remix for their new single "Paranoid" with Kanye West's song of the same name. "We want to do a mash-up of [both 'Paranoid' songs]," Nick Jonas said. "So, if [Kanye]'s watching, I think it'd be awesome!"
On the reason behind their idea, Kevin Jonas shared their hopes of gaining some new fans. "Some guy heard [Kanye] did the song and wanted to download it and heard [our version] and never heard of the Jonas Brothers before," Kevin explained. "And now he's bringing his family to the show. ... I made that completely up. That didn't happen!"
Jonas Brothers' "Paranoid" has been outed since May. Its music video was directed by The Malloys and features Nick, Kevin and Joe Jonas finding themselves in unusual circumstances. Meanwhile, Kanye West's was dropped in March with Rihanna-featuring music video being debuted earlier this month.

At this point it's not really news that the Jonas Brothers have Miley Cyrus on their new album, Lines, Vines and Trying Times, which dropped Tuesday (June 16), and we here at MTV News are not surprised in any way to hear that the boys turned to a hip-hop star for another song on their new album.
Back in March, the guys shared with MTV News their dream of embracing hip-hop and "getting someone like a Common or a Lupe Fiasco or a Mos Def" to collaborate with them. And — just like that! — they got Common to guest-star on the song "Don't Charge Me With the Crime."

Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers has opened up the story behind the making of "Before the Storm", the band's duet song with Miley Cyrus, to Twist Magazine. "There's two versions of the song basically, one that was written just for our record that we sang originally," he starts his explanation.
"And then I played it for Miley and we realized that if we just changed the lyrics a bit, we could make it more of our story, kind of share that side of us, and it could be great," the youngest member of the Disney teen band reveals more to Twist Magazine. "So, we did. She came in and she and I sat down at the piano and just worked on lyrics a bit, tweaked it up, and it turned out great!"
