New York-based visual effects facility Rhinofx is opening a Stamford, Conn., office dedicated to longform work with an emphasis on features.
The company, which started in shortform, had been moving toward features and decided now is the time to expand.
"We wanted to offer our clients tax-advantaged solutions that enable quality work for a lower cost without compromising the directors' visions," vp features Karin Levinson said. "With the 30% tax incentives offered by the state of Connecticut, as well as the access to Rhinofx's top artistic talent, our film outlet represents a powerful alternative to top West Coast VFX shops and outsourcing outside the U.S."
The new base will house about 10 employees and offer 2-D and 3-D tools. It will be linked to the main New York facility with a team of 40.
Rhinofx is beginning work on DreamWorks/Paramount's "Ghost Town", which is in production and slated for an August release.
Its recent credits include "The Nanny Diaries" for the Weinstein Co.
