Disney’s + latest Star Wars series “Ahsoka” puts the action in live action.
The title character, played by Rosario Dawson, has found herself in lightsaber battles in nearly every episode, facing off against assassin droids, the inquisitor Marrok, Baylan Skoll and even her former Jedi master Anakin Skywalker.
In an interview with TheWrap conducted prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike, Dawson talked about the physicality of the role and the intense training that she underwent to play a former Jedi.
“This character is so physical,” Dawson explained. “And so the training was really important to me. I wanted to train seven days a week. They weren’t trying to get me to train seven days a week, they wanted me to take the weekends off. And I was like, ‘Absolutely not!’ Two hours every single day. And I started months before we were supposed to start training because I just knew...

Watching the first episode of "Ahsoka," I kept wishing George Lucas had been around during filming to provide the same direction he, as "Star Wars" legend has it, gave the cast of "A New Hope": "Faster, more intense." It's advice that Lucas's real-life Padawan, Lucasfilm Animation head honcho and "Ahsoka" showrunner Dave Filoni, could stand to take to heart.
Filoni comes from the world of animation, having gotten his start as a storyboard artist on "King of the Hill" prior to working with Lucas on the animated series "Star Wars: The Clone Wars." Animation, by its very nature, necessitates economic storytelling. It's much more expensive than live-action, so every shot has to maximize its ability to advance the narrative. You can tell Filoni enjoyed the extra leeway afforded by his initial excursion into live-action as a writer, director, and executive producer on "The Mandalorian" and "The Book of Boba Fett.

It ain't easy being a Jedi. On the plus side, you gain the ability to basically move things with your mind and wield a bomb-ass lightsaber. On the other hand, you're not allowed to have sex, and forming romantic or familial bonds is not strictly forbidden, but still kind of a no-no. Grieving's sort of frowned upon, too, even when it concerns the death of your Padawan or losing a student to the dark side. Is it any wonder Luke Skywalker ultimately wound up as a cantankerous old hermit chugging green milk on Ahch-To?
Leaving the Jedi Order is no small thing either, as Anakin Skywalker's Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, learned when she did just that during the animated series "Star Wars: The Clone Wars." Despite the culture shock of going from living as a space monk her entire life to having to make ends meet working the "Star Wars" gig economy,...

This Obi-Wan Kenobi article contains spoilers.
The Star Wars shows just keep coming. Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place 10 years after Revenge of the Sith, almost evenly between the Prequel and Original Trilogies. This setting provides plenty of opportunities to connect the show to other parts of the saga, including with some very surprising cameos.
In just the first two episodes, Obi-Wan reluctantly leaves his mournful vigil over Luke Skywalker to help out an old friend from the Prequels, finding himself in the crosshairs of both bounty hunters and ruthless Imperial Inquisitors who serve Darth Vader. All to save an iconic Original Trilogy character!
Here are all the Star Wars references, easter eggs, and cameos we spotted in the two-episode premiere…
Vivien Lyra Blair as Princess Leia
Vivien Lyra Blair joins the cast as a 10-year-old Princess Leia Organa, the legendary Star Wars hero originally played by Carrie Fisher. As one of the two Skywalker twins,...

Xena: Warrior Princess stuntwoman Zoë Bell’s cure for quarantined boredom just might liven up your day as well.
Bell, who kicked off her stunt career by doubling for Xena herself, rounded up, yes, Lucy Lawless, plus NCIS: Los Angeles star Daniela Ruah, Daredevil and Briarpatch‘s Rosario Dawson and dozens of others — a thrilling mix of fellow stunt performers and “badass” actresses — for one of the interactive-ish “lockdown” videos that are all the rage these days.
