Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are set to star in a prequel to the iconic heist film ‘Oceans 11’, which will explore the origins of the original crew and their romantic entanglements in the 1960s. The film, tentatively titled ‘Oceans 10’, is still in development and has not been officially announced by Warner Bros., but producer Josey McNamara has confirmed that the project is alive and well.
“I think we’re just trying to do right by the franchise. I’m excited for people to experience it when it’s ready,” McNamara said in an interview with Collider. He added that the script, written by Olivia Milch, is “fantastic” and that the film will have a “different tone” from the previous ‘Oceans’ movies, which were directed by Steven Soderbergh and starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and others.

Channing Tatum is looking all set to take the driving seat as star, co-director, scribe and producer for new road trip comedy ‘Dog’.
Tatum will take on the lead role of former Army Ranger Briggs who journeys down the Pacific Coast with his Belgian Malinois dog Lulu to catch his best friend’s – and Lulu’s former handler’s – funeral.

Also in news – Sam Claflin and Michelle Monaghan join cast of indie ‘Every Breath You Take’
The film will mark Tatum’s directorial debut, he will direct alongside with producing partner Reid Carolin. Brett Rodriguez co-wrote the script alongside Tatum and Carolin.

It's finally here! The Labour Day weekend isn't really the end of summer, but it certainly feels that way. Maybe it's the residual instinct ingrained in us after years of elementary and high school, when summertime meant freedom from school for a full two months and September meant the end of all that and the return to teachers, books, and (ugh) homework.
No matter how you feel about the holiday, there's still lots of ways to squeeze the most fun possible out of your extra day off! And what better way to while away an afternoon than with a movie at a Cineplex theatre. Without further ado, here's our recommendations for what to see in theatres this long weekend!

There’s nothing revelatory or new about adding a dose of the comedic to a crime picture, but the heist comedy is just a small corner of a vast and beloved cinematic landscape, as of recently, dominated by one filmmaker: Steven Soderbergh.
Responsible for four acclaimed entries in the genre, including Out of Sight and the Ocean’s 11 trilogy, Soderbergh has thankfully ended his so-called retirement and returned to film and the world of heist comedies with his newest, Logan Lucky, now playing in theaters. The film’s plot follows Jimmy Logan (Channing Tatum) a family man who plans to rob the Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina, only to find he and his crew (Adam Driver, Daniel Craig and Riley Keough) must do the job while a Nascar race is underway.

Steven Soderbergh’s cinematic return begins with an apt statement that reflects the experience of his most entertaining films: Channing Tatum’s Jimmy Logan tinkers away at his truck as he tells his daughter Sadie a fantastical tale about the John Denver tune on the radio. When she asks what makes the song so special to him, his matter-of-fact response is that sometimes you just “like the song because of the song.” For all of Soderbergh’s conceptual refinement and polemical subtlety buried within his most mainstream features, sometime you can’t just help love the song.
Logan Lucky is another one of those films for the director, and another of his spectacular ensembles. Tatum is one of three protective Logan siblings along with Adam Driver’s amputee Clyde and Riley Keough’s no-bullshit hairdresser Mellie. In order to stay a part of his daughter’s life after losing his construction job,...

Given that it’s his first feature film in the four years – a comparatively standard break for most other filmmakers – since the prolific Steven Soderbergh announced he would make no more, Logan Lucky has been accorded perhaps more import than it can reasonably shoulder. For the average moviegoer unaware of such trappings, however, the film should emerge fairly quickly for what it is – a bunch of goons having fun, with some cheap sentiment thrown in at the end.
Goon the first is Jimmy Logan (Channing Tatum), recently fired from a construction site for a bum knee he failed to note on his insurance forms. He’s separated from his wife (now married to a very successful man, as ex-wives in movies must be), trying to maintain a hand in raising his daughter, but keeps falling a leg or two behind. Poverty has a way of making everything else difficult. But...

Steven Soderbergh, the Oscar-winning director of Traffic (2000) and films as diverse as Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989), Kafka (1991), his two-part biopic Che (2008) and The Girlfriend Experience (2009), returns to features after a four year absence with a cool breeze of summertime sweetness called Logan Lucky. On the surface, this let's-rob-a-racetrack caper looks like a redneck spin on Ocean's 11, his starry (Clooney, Pitt, Damon) 2001 box-office hit. And in some ways it is. "I've lost interest in anything that smells important," the 54-year-old director recently told the New York Times.

This week marks the official return to cinemas of Steven Soderbergh. Even though he never stopped working, it’s been a few years since he’s been in the film business, opting more for television in the interim. Well, that’s no longer the case. He has a movie hitting screens in a few days, the heist comedy Logan Lucky. This ensemble adventure is a real good time, marking something both rather similar and also a little different for the director. It’s essentially the perfect return for him. Beyond that, it’s just quality cinema. I’ll give you a little on it next, but after that, we’ll run down his filmography to date. Read on… In case you missed it last time, a bit on Logan Lucky. Is the movie basically a hillbilly take on Ocean’s 11? Yes. Still, it’s a ton of fun. We meet...

Another embargo came down earlier this week, ironically for an additional film that I saw last week, during the previously mentioned run of top notch screenings (side note, Detroit is out today in limited release, just as an Fyi). This one happened to be Logan Lucky, the cinematic return of director Steven Soderbergh. I’d actually meant to write about this one a few days ago, but fall film festival announcements got in the way (and actually, it turned out to be a good thing, as now I can talk a bit about the rumors surrounding scribe/potential figment of the imagination Rebecca Blunt). This flick is a ton of fun, offering a new heist offering from Soderbergh. Teaming up again with Tatum, as well as a great ensemble, it’s a really quite enjoyable lark. Is the movie basically a hillbilly take on Ocean’s 11? Yes. Still, it’s a ton of fun.

A new trailer has arrived for Logan Lucky starring Daniel Craig, Channing Tatum and Adam Driver and it’s just as hilarious as the rest.
Related: Logan Lucky news and trailers
The trailer takes us on a fast and furious ride of stupidity and fun filled explosive sequences as a chunky Tatum as Jimmy Logan has nothing to lose, hitting the bottom of the barrel as he loses his job and his wife. He cooks up a plan with his brother Clyde (Driver) and sister Mellie (Keough) to break the camp and hilarious Joe (Craig) of prison to pull off an unusual crime which includes the busiest race of the year – This isn’t going to go smoothly at all.
Directed by Academy Award-winner Steven Soderbergh (Ocean’s Eleven, Magic Mike, Traffic), Logan Lucky also stars Hilary Swank, Seth MacFarlane, Katherine Waterston, Sebastian Stan, and Brian Gleeson.

Channing Tatum, Adam Driver and Daniel Craig star in a comic thriller brimming with energy and wit from the returning Ocean’s Eleven director
It seems, at first, like an impossible caper. Can Steven Soderbergh bring something new to the heist genre after his outstanding Oceans trilogy? The answer, as always, is to have faith in the director-producer-writer-cinematographer-editor-brandy salesman whose ingenuity has kept him one step ahead of audiences for almost 30 years.
Channing Tatum, working with Soderbergh for the fourth time, is at his sympathetic and charismatic best in Logan Lucky. His Jimmy Logan is a divorced father with an old football injury, a John Denver enthusiast and loving sibling living in Boone County, West Virginia. His wounded leg gets him fired from a construction gig at the Charlotte Motor Speedway because it’s “a pre-existing condition”.

Don’t call it a comeback (he’s been here for years), but Steven Soderbergh’s self-imposed exile from film directing is officially over, and his inevitable return to the big screen confirms what most of us have known all along: The guy is a lot better at making movies than he is at not making movies.
Hollywood’s most restless iconoclast, Soderbergh couldn’t take a vacation if his life depended on it; his “retirement” was shorter than the break that many major directors routinely take between projects, and during that time he directed two staggeringly great seasons of “The Knick,” executive produced both “Red Oaks” and “The Girlfriend Experience,” and shot one of the defining cinematic experiences of this or any other century, “Magic Mike Xxl” (just kidding, he also edited it). He really likes to work, and he’ll go wherever he can work in peace.

Director Steven Soderbergh and the folks from Magic Mike are back at it with the new comedy Logan Lucky.

I love the huge cast, especially the retro poster, and can’t wait to see what Soderbergh does with this modern day version of the 1970’s genre – has the feeling of Smokey And The Bandit for this generation.

Channing Tatum is reuniting with “Magic Mike” director Steven Soderbergh for a heist film. But instead of the glitz of “Ocean’s Eleven,” this heist will feature blue collar thieves stealing millions in the heart of North Carolina in Fingerprint Releasing/Bleecker Street’s “Logan Lucky,” which got its first trailer on Sunday. The trailer, which premiered to coincide with Nascar’s Coca-Cola 600, features Tatum as Jimmy Logan, a laid-off construction worker who believes his family is cursed with bad luck. To reverse their curse, he employs his brother, a one-armed bartender named Clyde (Adam Driver), to pull off a heist during the.
