He lived in Paris, France from 1947 until his death in 2009.
Served in the United States Army during World War II after the Pearl Harbor Attack. His French earned him a posting to the Military Intelligence Service and duty in France as a Translator.
Attended Wesleyan University but he did not graduate.
Survived by his longtime companion and adopted son, Gilles Foy-Lord.
