David Tennant and Michael Sheen are back in the third series of Good Omens, here are the details.
Neil Gaiman’s television adaptation of his and Terry Pratchett’s fantasy series Good Omens has been hugely successful these past few years, not least due to the chemistry and charisma of leading duo David Tennant and Michael Sheen. The second series, which debuted in August, was reported to be the number one show on Amazon Prime worldwide, and the first season was hardly struggling for acclaim, either.
A third series commission has been on the cards for a while, with the caveat that producer, director and co-showrunner Douglas Mackinnon would not be returning.
However, that hasn’t stopped Amazon pressing ahead with the third and final series.

Good Omens will be returning for a third and final season as Amazon has officially renewed the series.
“I’m so happy finally to be able to finish the story Terry and I plotted in 1989 and in 2006,” Neil Gaiman said in a statement. “Terry was determined that if we made Good Omens for television, we could take the story all the way to the end. Season one was all about averting Armageddon, dangerous prophecies and the End of the World. Season two was sweet and gentle, although it may have ended less joyfully than a certain Angel and Demon might have hoped. Now in season three, we will deal once more with the end of the world. The plans for Armageddon are going wrong. Only Crowley [David Tennant] and Aziraphale [Martin Sheen] working together can hope to put it right. And they aren’t talking.“

That angel and demon sitting on your shoulders aren’t metaphors for your innermost desires: They’re Aziraphale and Crowley, and they’re there to let you know that Good Omens is coming back for a third and final season.
Prime Video announced the renewal on Thursday, adding that Season 3 “will bring to life a serendipitous conversation from almost 35 years ago, between Neil Gaiman and the late Sir Terry Pratchett, where they mapped out ‘what happens next’ to the wonderful characters in the world of their internationally best-selling novel.”

Exclusive: As Deadline reported earlier this week, Douglas Mackinnon, who served as executive producer, director and co-showrunner on the first two seasons of Good Omens, will not be returning for the expected third season of the Amazon/BBC series. It turns out Mackinnon also has exited another Neil Gaiman Amazon fantasy series, the upcoming Anansi Boys.
According to sources, Mackinnon left Anansi Boys last November when the show was in early post-production, having wrapped filming on its six-episode order at the end of May.
Like with Good Omens, Mackinnon served as co-showrunner alongside Gaiman, director and executive producer on Anansi Boys, an adaptation of Gaiman’s novel. He will get a directing credit on an episode and an “additional material shot by” credit on another, in addition to being listed as executive producer, I hear.
Anansi Boys remains in post-production with no premiere date set yet.

“Good Omens” co-showrunner Douglas Mackinnon won’t be back for a Season 3 if and when it heads into production.
“Challenge accepted: To all professionals in the television/film world, join the challenge to post a photo of you in your job. Just a picture, no description,” Mackinnon wrote in an Instagram post on Monday. The caption was coupled with an image of a set, though he didn’t share what the project was. The post appeared to be a strike-related challenge. “The goal is to flood social media with our profession and raise awareness of the current struggles. Copy the text and post a pic.”
In the comments, a follower wrote: “Please, please keep the set up after S3 is done and let us come visit” to which Mackinnon replied, “I’m not with this show anymore.”

It took four years for the second season of Neil Gaiman’s Good Omens to arrive, but hopefully, the wait won’t be quite so long for season 3.
Deadline reports that it’s “looking good” that Amazon and the BBC will renew Good Omens for a third season, which will likely be the last for the fantasy series. However, Douglas Mackinnon, who served as executive producer, director, and co-showrunner of the first two seasons, won’t be returning for Good Omens season 3. Mackinnon confirmed his exit on Instagram after posting a photo from the set. In response to a fan, he stated, “I’m not involved with this show anymore.” A fan asked Neil Gaiman what was going on, and he said “Douglas has moved on to other projects.“

Neil Gaiman fantasy series Good Omens is looking good to land a Season 3 renewal by Amazon and the BBC, I hear. In anticipation of the order for what will likely be the show’s last chapter, the options on the series’ main cast, led by Michael Sheen and David Tennant, have been picked up, sources said.
Not returning for Season 3 is Douglas Mackinnon, who served as executive producer, director and co-showrunner on the first two seasons.
Mackinnon revealed his departure from Good Omens on Instagram. Answering an ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike-related challenge to film/TV professionals to post a photo of themselves on the job, he ran an image from the set of the Prime Video/BBC Two series.
While he did not identify the production, fans recognized the set and started a Good Omens discussion in the comments section to which Mackinnon responded, “I’m not involved with this show anymore.

This article contains spoilers for "Good Omens" season 2.
There's a lot of overlap between the "Good Omens" and "Doctor Who" fanbases. After all, Crowley is played by David Tennant, the same guy who played (and is now playing again) the time-traveling alien Doctor. If that wasn't enough, "Good Omens" also co-stars Michael Sheen as Aziraphale, an actor who played the malevolent alien House in the "Doctor Who" episode "The Doctor's Wife." That episode was written by Neil Gaiman, co-creator and showrunner of "Good Omens." Director Douglas MacKinnon has also worked on both shows.
"Good Omens" season 2 takes the connections between the shows even further. Peter Davison, who played the fifth Doctor back in 1982, shows up here to play the biblical figure Job. Job's son, Ennon, is played by David Tennant's real-life son, Ty Tennant, who also happens to be Peter Davison's grandson. The fly Beelzebub gives Gabriel is described as "bigger on the inside,...

It’s been four years since the first season of Good Omens premiered on Prime Video, and now, to celebrate the arrival of Good Omens Season 2, Michael Sheen (Aziraphale) and David Tennant (Crowley) say a third chapter of the fantasy epic could happen. Gaiman has been on the ground floor of the new season. He’s also said the latest episodes act like a bridge between the first book and an idea for an original sequel. This tidbit implies we could get Good Omens Season 3 if all goes well.
Speaking with Comicbook.com about the possibility of a third season, Sheen and Tennant hinted at the door being wide open for the story to continue.

Good Omens season two is a story of friendship and love and, to quote Terry Pratchett’s Moving Pictures, “Passione in a Worlde Gone Madde!” Gorgeous-looking, perfectly cast, and full of joy, it’s like a warm hug and a mug of hot chocolate… with a little macabre horror and sketch show comedy bobbing beneath the surface.
Good Omens season one was based on a standalone novel written by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, which meant that it was a complete story. That’s why most of its characters and plotlines – Adam and pals, Agnes Nutter, Anathema and the Four Motorcycle Riders of the Apocalypse – don’t appear in season two.
But more than any of those, Good Omens season one was the story of the friendship between the demon Crowley and the angel Aziraphale. They’re the true protagonists of the book, and indisputably the stars of the TV show,...

Prime Video has released the official trailer for the second season of the comedy ‘Good Omens.’
Michael Sheen and David Tennant are back as Aziraphale and Crowley. Here the pair may have helped stop the Apocalypse, but that doesn’t appear to have done them any favours with Heaven or Hell.
Now they must re-team to solve a mystery that takes in all of heaven and hell – seems the archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) has gone missing.
Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton, Reece Shearsmith, Niamh Walsh and Derek Jacobi are all back for the new run. They’re joined this time by Nina Sosanya, Miranda Richardson, Dame Sian Phillips, Tim Downie, Pete Firman, Andi Osho and Alex Norton. Maggie Service, Quelin Sepulveda and Shelley Conn also star.
Neil Gaiman continues as executive producer and co-showruns, along with executive producer Douglas Mackinnon who also returned to direct.

The Prime Video series "Good Omens," based on the novel "Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch" by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, is a delightfully irreverent romp through the apocalypse. The demon Crowley (David Tennant) and angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) are the unlikeliest of friends, but they still manage to stop the apocalypse together despite their many differences. Sure, there was a mix-up with the infant antichrist that led to a much sillier apocalypse than expected, but everything turned out okay in the end, and now the angel-demon duo are coming back for another, all-new adventure.

In 2019, "Good Omens" proved to us that there's such a thing as an angel and demon pair made in heaven as long -- as they're played by Michael Sheen and David Tennant, respectively. The Prime Video/BBC TV show was written as a limited series since the 1990 source material, written by producer and showrunner Neil Gaiman ("The Sandman") and the late Terry Pratchett, was a stand-alone book.

Douglas Mackinnon, director and exec producer of Amazon series Good Omens and Anansi Boys, has urged the upkeep of a “chain of productions” in Scotland, as landmark research finds the Scottish screen sector generated more than £500M (613M) and created 10,000 jobs in 2019.
Mackinnon, who has also directed episodes of Line of Duty and Doctor Who, issued a word of warning that a “boom and bust” effect will infect Scotland’s TV and film industry unless producers keep up a pipeline of projects.
He has “confidence” that the nation’s skills base has improved greatly over the past few years and skilled execs who had initially left the country are returning to work on projects, while a wealth of training schemes are bringing the next generation through.
