The Groundlings will host an improv musical fundraising event on Oct. 26, featuring Ana Gasteyer, Kristen Bell, Kristen Wiig and Will Forte. The event, held at the Performing Arts Center at Vista Del Mar, will benefit the Motion Picture & Television Fund to support below-the-line workers impacted by the strikes.
“One Night Only,” created and directed by Groundlings Main Company member Andrew Leeds, is a full production of a well-known Broadway musical. The catch? The improvisers are given the script and their roles only 24 hours in advance.
“These strikes have taken a terrible toll on our amazing crews, and it isn’t over yet. Even with the WGA strike ending, most crew members won’t be able to start work again until the SAG-AFTRA deal is ratified,” Leeds said in a statement. “Even then, many will be fighting to survive as they wait for productions to start back up.

Hunter S. Thompson is a confounding figure. Though he didn’t invent Gonzo journalism, he is the most identifiable face of it. His first-person narrative style of news gathering makes him partially accountable for the overriding trends of internet journalism, on both sides of the aisle and all the cleanup calls which go along with them. Thompson’s 1970 attempt to run for sheriff of Pitkin County, Colorado, marked the beginning of baby boomer politicking. Writer-director Bobby Kennedy III’s Fear and Loathing in Aspen tells that story with wit, wisdom and weirdness.
Set just before Thomson, played by Jay Bulger, caught his stride with his 1971 novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream, the film conjures the energy of strange, new beginnings. Much of it is shot on vintage grade, grainy film stock, and it looks like the actors were free...

Shot in the hills of Southern California, Feeding Mr. Baldwin utilizes minimal locations to successfully showcase a microcism of quasi-losers and freaks, with the quasi-losers being the unwitting pawns of the freaks. It's a dark comedy that poses the age-old question—where does one hide a dead body? If you're Drew (Dalton Leeb) in Feeding Mr. Baldwin, you wing it with the help of a friend and you keep the dog on a short leash. And so it begins as Drew abandons his crappy job for a chance to work for Lance Bryant (Christopher B. Duncan), a wealthy inspirational speaker and author. Lance is traveling abroad and has asked Drew to house sit; should that go well, Drew might have a shot at joining Team Lance, a paying gig with Drew at the beck-and-call of this egotistical weirdo. Things get strange soon after Lance's departure, with a courier delivering a most peculiar package,...
