Mary Byrne has admitted that she wasn’t a bit shocked to be eliminated from the X Factor last night.
The Dublin mum of one found herself in the semi final sing off against young rapper Cher Lloyd and after belting out ‘This Is A Man’s World,’ three out of the four judges chose to send her home.
Speaking on Daybreak this morning, Byrne explained that she always saw the show as a ‘young person’s’ venture and was shocked that she made it as far as she did. She told Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley:
I knew I couldn’t win it. It’s a young person’s show and I did what I had to do, I came and did it and I’m so honoured to be given that opportunity. So last night, to me, that was my final and I won it as far as I’m concerned.

Matt Damon wrapped up in a bathrobe on the Glencoe, Il set of Contagion yesterday. He's starting on his latest movie after the October release of Hereafter, which coincided with the birth of his fourth daughter, Stella. Matt may be outnumbered by women at home, but he'll have Jude Law on his side as he welcomes costars Kate Winslet and Marion Cotillard to the project. He was able to enjoy some downtime in NYC with his family and get to know their newest addition over the last few weeks, and he even fitted in a stroll with Gia and Isabella before heading out of town for work. Matt Cardle has revealed why he got so upset at Aiden Grimshaw’s elimination on Sunday, saying ‘he’s like my brother.’
The former painter and decorator was gutted when his pal lost out to drama queen Katie Waissel on last week’s results show. Explaining his relationship with Aiden, Matt said in his official video diary:
Griminaul is gone, Aiden is out. I am going to miss that guy like a leg because me and him were doing this thing together and now he’s gone.
He added:
We weren’t leaning on each other but we were going through this together. Me and him right from bootcamp and through judges houses, we went to Australia together, we’ve had each other’s back the whole way. We did everything together, shared a room, lived ate, got in taxis together, had breakfast together, he was like my brother in...

Matthew's overseas after logging time last weekend with his family in Austin, where his j.k.livin foundation continued to support a group of kids participating in a half marathon. In this excerpt from The Innovation Secrets of Steve Jobs, author Carmine Gallo recounts what Steve Jobs told Nike CEO Mark Parker, and provides a glimpse into Apple's strategy of focused simplicity.
On April 21, 2010, Fast Company magazine sponsored a conference called Innovation Uncensored. Nike president and CEO Mark Parker was one of the featured speakers. Parker told the story of what transpired when, shortly after he became CEO, he got a call from Steve Jobs.
"Do you have any advice?" Parker asked Jobs.
"Well, just one thing," said Jobs. "Nike makes some of the best products in the world. Products that you lust after. Absolutely beautiful, stunning products. But you also make a lot of crap. Just get rid of the crappy stuff and focus on the good stuff."
Parker told his audience, "I expected a little pause and a laugh. There was a pause but no laugh. He was absolutely right.

Oh, boy. Another day with Matt Hoh is just like bamboo under the fingernails, if you ask me, but there is a dim light at the end of the tunnel, as it’s time for the Pov. The light is dim, of course, because the likelihood or Rachel or Brendon not only competing in the contest but winning is pretty slim, and the annoying “brigade” seems to have pretty much everyone under their thumbs, so if someone else wins the likelihood of Rachel or Brendon getting backdoored is pretty good. Matt may not be as smart as he thinks, but he’s clearly...

Matthew McConaughey showed off his toned arms and pearly whites between scenes on the set of The Lincoln Lawyer in La yesterday. His costar, Marisa Tomei, joined him for filming and Ryan Phillippe showed up later in the day sporting his leg brace. Matthew started shooting scenes with Ryan last week and while the guys both look good, most of you agree on who you think is the hotter leading man. Matthew may not be the sexier of the two, but he's still in competition with Josh Brolin for a role opposite Hilary Swank in Dreams of a Dying Heart. Last night's return of The Vampire Diaries was so anticipated by us, it couldn't possibly live up to expectations ... right? It came pretty darn close, reminding us again why it's moved beyond CW guilty pleasure status and become one of the best shows on TV.
It's been six weeks since Damon, Stefan, Elena entered the tomb, a journey that rocked all the characters' worlds in one way or another. In Thursday night's "A Few Good Men," the show's characters were similarly linked again - by various ties to Elena's real mother.
A couple of side plots unraveling are worth mentioning as well. Harper, the mystery vampire from the tomb, somehow knows Pearl and Annabel, who are both expecting his arrival at their hideout. He also killed some guy and marvels at modern technology.
Caroline and Matt may be kind of dull, but his mom rules.

Thanks to a terrible headline from hollywoodnews.com, I thought Rose McGowan had been cast in The Hobbit. Fortunately, she’s just been cast in Conan the Barbarian – as a witch. Typecast much? The bulk of the article is about the fact that Sir Ian McKellen says he’s got a script for The Hobbit and begins shooting in June.
You know how a favorite Republican stall tactic is complaining that we should be talking economy or war instead of debating Dadt, gay marriage, Enda, or anything else? Well, in this case I might agree, since the New Hampshire government is all bogged down picking out an official state drink, with lines of battle split between apple cider and milk. How about we compromise on maple syrup?
I’m willing to admit I may have put some things in my mouth other people wouldn’t. (What? I was talking about chocolate covered crickets!

The Oscar-winning partnership of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are in negotiations to reunite with a first-look deal at Warner Bros.
Vulture says a final deal has not been reached and was uncertain on the length of the arrangement, but a formal announcement is expected within the next few days. Whether or not this means another collaboration like Good Will Hunting remains to be seen.
It’s also unclear if their production company would reform under a new name — their previous venture was called LivePlanet at Disney — and whether it would produce projects for each, or possibly both, of the Massachusetts-born friends. Like their earlier organization, it may end up being a place for the two to develop passion projects as producers like they did with the HBO series “Project Greenlight.”
This may also mean Matt may get a shot at directing like his pal Ben. He’s certainly trained...

Matt may be a model-turned-actor … but he was once a batboy for the Atlanta Braves!
Matt Lanter, 26, who stars as Liam on CW’s hit show 90210, didn’t grow up a Hollywood celeb, obviously. Matt was born in Massillon, Ohio and then when he was eight years old, he moved to Atlanta, Ga. Matt ended up graduating from the University of Georgia with a degree in sports business, but this dreamy bad boy had a craving for the spotlight! Matt’s been in countless television shows and he stars alongside Gossip Girl starlet Leighton Meester in the upcoming film The Roommate. We’re sure by now you’re completely intrigued! HollywoodLife.com asked Matt for six confessions and fun facts, and we got him to spill it all!
Six Things You Never Knew About Matt Lanter!

From a new (now former) friend of Stefan's to a celebration 162 years in the making, this week's episode of The Vampire Diaries introduced new characters, twists and turns.
As usual, our staff has it all covered in the latest edition of our Vampire Diaries Round Table. We encourage readers to sound off on the topics below in the forum or in the comments section.
Let's get to it!
Are you excited for Matt and Caroline to date?
M.L. House: I'm excited for something to happen with these characters, especially Matt. There has to be more to him than just Mr. Nice Guy, right? Maybe it comes out between the sheets!
Dr. Sheperd: Who's Matt again? Just kidding ... kind of. The problem with Matt may not be with Matt, but more a reflection on how awesome Stefan, Elena and Damon are as characters. Whatever the reason, why would I care about Matt?...
