Pearl Jam appeared The Howard Stern Show this week, where they not only shared fascinating stories — like how drummer Matt Cameron once got a cease-and-desist letter from Kiss — but also performed a number of songs, including tracks from their new album Dark Matter and older hits like “Daughter” and “Yellow Ledbetter.”
The appearance was in support of the band’s 12th LP, Dark Matter, which debuted last week on April 19th and has earned praise from many, including Stem himself, who called it “a phenomenal fucking album.” When asked to perform a track from the record, Pearl Jam chose the opener, “Scared of Fear,” delivering the song’s heavy feel with uproarious energy.

It kicks off with a big emotional bang: “We used to laugh/We used to sing/We used to dance/We used to believe,” Eddie Vedder sings on “Scared of Fear,” the rocking opener from Pearl Jam’s 12th studio album, one of their best and most personal records ever. When it came time to work on their follow-up to 2020’s Gigaton, band members headed out to Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La Studios in Malibu and worked with versatile producer Andrew Watt, who helmed Vedder’s 2022 solo album, Earthling, and has...

Artist Alexandr Gnezdilov created the cover of Dark Matter using a large self-made kaleidoscope with each letter visible on the cover individually captured, then handwritten midair with a specially designed flashlight to create the pearlescent effect. This is the same art seen in the visualization within this trailer. Produced by multi-Grammy award winning producer Andrew Watt,...

Mike McCready has provided an update on what’s next from Pearl Jam, assuring fans that their forthcoming album — produced by Andrew Watt — will be “a lot heavier than you’d expect.”
The guitarist offered some details about the album in a recent interview with Classic Rock, and although it’s yet to be announced, it sounds like the LP is just about complete: “I’m hoping it’s gonna come out [in 2024],” McCready said. “We have a bunch of songs tracked. We worked with Andrew Watt, who’s a younger pop producer-type guy, but he’s really a rock guy at heart — I think we’re his favorite band. When we were in the studio with him this past year, he really kicked our asses, got us focused and playing, song after song.”

Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready has revealed he is drawing on his experiences in the Seattle grunge scene for a new rock opera. In an interview with Guitar World, the musician said the project is inspired by and honors the late Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell, who was also McCready’s bandmate in the supergroup Temple of the Dog.
“I look at him as one of the greatest singers and songwriters of all time, aside from being a friend,” McCready said about Cornell. “I love Chris and I’m working on a little project about the Seattle scene and a musical kind of rock opera thing. It’s just from my experience in the Seattle music scene, and he’s part of it.”

Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament has offered his own update on the next Pearl Jam album. During an appearance on Kyle Meredith With…, Ament said that while the band feels they’ve “earned the right to do whatever the fuck we want,” their latest effort isn’t quite done and “doesn’t feel like a record yet.”
The comments come just two weeks after Pearl Jam’s Stone Gossard shared with Meredith that he felt the new album was “close to the finish line,” an assessment with which Ament gently disagrees. “The hardest part of [finishing] a record a lot of times is figuring out which songs go on the record and do we need to record another song and what’s the artwork and what’s the title and all that stuff,” Ament says, noting the band is planning on taking the rest of summer off with those questions left unanswered.

The legendary Ozzy Osbourne feels remorse for not making “more varied” music. While he is proud of the way Black Sabbath made heavy metal “big”, the rockstar said that he would have liked to have explored outside of the genre and produced some songs that were less “aggressive”, reports aceshowbiz.com.
“You know what, I would have liked to have been a little more varied,” he told The Sun newspaper when asked if he wished he had ever moved away from heavy metal.
“Black Sabbath music is very aggressive even if some of it is foot-tapping.”
“But we fought the f****** world to make it big. But mind you, it’s a good thing we didn’t get our royalties when we were 23 because I would have f***** myself into another planet.”
The 73-year-old singer said that there are some collaborations he’d loved to have been able to secure.

“What a musician, what a legacy, what power and mastery,” the Smashing Pumpkins frontman wrote in his tribute. “I don’t think it’s possible to sum up what his inspiration did for me as a musician. No man made his playing so effortless that I endeavored to make mine sound the same.

Earlier this week, on what would have been Chris Cornell's 56th birthday, Vicky Cornell on behalf of The Chris Cornell Estate released his never before heard cover of Guns N’ Roses’ "Patience (UMe).
The song is accompanied by a music video that was produced by Toni and Christopher Cornell, and features personal images, including special photos taken at home by friend and photographer Steven Lyon.
Chris recorded this song in March 2016 at Henson Studios in Los Angeles. While he was there working on his own album, he was teaching his daughter Toni how to play “Patience,” as she was a big fan of Guns N’ Roses. During his studio time, he actually recorded it on his own as a tribute to the band and their recent announcement at the time that they would be getting back together.

Pearl Jam Recruits Climate Change Activist Greta Thunberg for Cautionary ‘Retrograde’ Visual (Watch)
Pearl Jam offers a startling vision for an Earth ravaged by climate change in a new animated video for their song “Retrograde,” directed by Emmy-winning Australian filmmaker Josh Wakely (“Beat Bugs”). The clip, the latest from Pearl Jam’s “Gigaton” album, extends that project’s environmentally conscious themes by featuring teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg as a fortune teller revealing the dire consequences of inaction.
Throughout the video, Thunberg observes giant waves overwhelming such world landmarks as London Bridge, the skyscrapers of Manhattan and even the Space Needle of Pearl Jam’s Seattle hometown. But just as “Retrograde” the song strikes a balance between despair (references to “seven seas rising forever” and a “future fading out”) and determination (“It’s going to take much more than ordinary love to lift us up”), the clip aims to “imagine the future and then try to alter it,” according to Wakely.

Pearl Jam emerged from a long slumber today by announcing not just a European tour, but also the news that their fan club holiday singles will be released to streaming services.
They are rolling out the songs one at a time under the banner 12 Days of Pearl Jam, beginning today with Stevie Wonder’s “Someday at Christmas.” It’s unclear which one will come next.
Pearl Jam started the tradition of releasing holiday songs back in 1991 when they dropped “Let Me Sleep (Christmas Time)” as a vinyl single to members of their fan club.
