Netflix has debuted the trailer for the dark comedic thriller ‘Bodkin’.
The show follows a motley crew of podcasters who set out to investigate the mysterious disappearance of three strangers in a quaint, coastal Irish town. But once they start pulling at threads, they discover a story much bigger and weirder than they could have ever imagined. As our heroes try to discern fact from fiction — about the case, about their colleagues, and, most painfully, themselves — the series challenges our perception of truth and exposes the stories we tell ourselves to justify our beliefs or validate our fears.
Created by Jez Scharf, the show stars Sobhán Cullen (Dove), Robyn Cara (Emmy), Chris Walley (Sean O’Shea), David Wilmot (Seamus), and Will Forte (Gilbert).
Guest stars include Pom Boyd (Mrs. O’Shea), Fionnula Flanagan (Mother Bernadette), Áine Ní Mhuirí (Sister McDonagh), Charlie Kemp (Damien), Pat Shortt (Darragh), Ger Kelly (Teddy), Denis Conway (Sergeant...

This comedy sees a troupe of clowns, living statues and ravers roaming about a dystopia where electricity has been stopped by a solar flare
For years, Bobcat Goldthwait’s cult classic Shakes the Clown was the only adult-oriented black comedy featuring an almost all-clown list of dramatis personae. But hooray – now there’s another one! Or nearly, because admittedly there are a few nonclown characters here. This superbly titled film is a goofy, wildly uneven but ultimately watchable low-budget Irish caprice that mostly revolves around an ad hoc troupe of outsider clowns (a phrase that may be a tautology) who are thrown together when a freak solar flare wipes out all the electricity in Ireland, or maybe the world.
Luckily, Bobo (David Earl), a washed-up clown with a squirty-flower boutonniere and little to no talent, does have a wind-up car that doesn’t need electricity. He ends up piling in...

Finnegans Wake, James Joyce’s final novel, is a notoriously challenging read. In the late Eighties, New Yorkers would organize “marathon group reads” of the book that would start at noon on New Year’s Eve and let the words flow until the evening of New Year’s Day. It took a Chinese translator eight years to get through the first third of the tome, since nearly every word required a footnote since most are neologisms or portmanteaus. But largely, the novel, first published in 1939, is best known for how little read it actually is.

The brainchild of Irish writer-director David Freyne, this powerful and provocative post-zombie flick offers a fresh take on the genre, making it a must-see for genre fans.
Based on Freyne’s related 2014 short The First Wave, The Cured opens in Dublin, in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse, where a scientist (Paula Malcomson) has found an antidote that has cured 75% of the infected. The remaining 25% have been locked away while the scientist refines the formula, while the former infectees – known as the cured – have attempted to return to their former lives, only to be met with anger and suspicion.

“May you live to be a thousand years old, sir.” Still the most widely unheralded great movie on the books, John Patrick Shanley’s lightweight/profound fable is an unmitigated delight. See Tom Hanks at the end of the first phase of his career plus Meg Ryan in an unacknowledged career highlight. How can a movie be so purposely insubstantial, and yet be ‘heavier’ than a dozen pictures with ‘big things to say?’

Joe Versus the Volcano
Written and directed by John Patrick Shanley
USA, 1990
Once upon a time, Tom Hanks was a comedic actor. From the early 1980s until about the early 1990s, Hanks made a name for himself as a goofy, fun-loving everyman. This streak continued until about 1993 when he won his first Academy Award playing an AIDS victim in the very laugh-free Philadelphia. This film marked the beginning of “serious Hanks” and the lovably dopey actor from the 1980s seemed to have evolved. One of the actor’s last full-on comedic roles was in the highly underrated romantic adventure Joe Versus the Volcano, a film critics weren’t too fond of during its 1990 release; however, it did strike it big as a cult favorite.
Joe Banks (Hanks) is a depressed hypochondriac who works at a dreary factory office in Staten Island. He couldn’t be more miserable and he works...

Today, we go away from movies into the world out there that is being influenced by Bollywood. Here, we look at an online business that is solely based on the Bollywood theme to attract fans. Meet Barry McGovern, the Managing Director of BollyBingo.com.
Tell us about Bollywood Bingo.
The site is the first really Asian gambling site that focusses on Bingo but has the full range of gaming solutions all housed within an environment that really is Asian.
Why did you decide to use the Bollywood theme for your game?
We decided to create the Bollywood theme because research showed that there was a gap in the market and that Asians would prefer an environment in which they could meet other Asians. The Bollywood theme has resonance in India and across Asia, Egypt, the Middle East and Russia in fact it is synonymous with fun and entertainment like Bollybingo.

'People Who marry for money have the hardest job. You don't get the money. You just get to look at it!" This is a line from Paul Schrader's 2007 movie "The Walker." It's uttered by none other than the living legend Lauren Bacall. This movie played a lot of festivals last year, had a limited run in the Us last December, and its DVD has just been released in Iceland, of all places! (Hey, us regular movie-goers would like to see it.)
