Went to Harvard Law School for one year, yet received her law degree
from Georgetown Law School, where she graduated cum laude. She received
her undergraduate degree from the University of Miami.
She is the fourth judge in succession for The People's Court (1997), but the first female judge presiding on that show.
Has three daughters: Cristina (born 1996), Alexandra (born 1998) and Sofia Elena (born 2001).
Her husband, John Schlesinger, is an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the
Southern District of Florida.
Worked from 1984 to 1994 as an Assistant State Attorney for the Dade
County State Attorney's Office (former U.S. Attorney General Janet
Reno, the then District Attorney for Dade County, hired her for the
position).
First Hispanic television court show judge.
Was appointed to the Miami Circuit Court by Florida Governor Jeb Bush in
1999, where she served in the Criminal Division.
(November 28 2001) Gave birth to her third daughter, Sofia
Elena.
