The very first episode of The Monkees, “Royal Flush,” won the series‘ director an Emmy Award in 1967. The Monkees‘ creators, Bob Rafelson and Bert Schneider won their own golden statuettes in the Best Comedy Series category that same legendary evening.

The Monkees were lucky enough to have prolific songwriters working behind the scenes to craft songs for their music catalog. Many came from New York’s Brill Building, where they worked for the show’s music producer, Don Kirshner. One of these songwriters was Carole King, who, along with her husband Gerry Goffin, wrote tunes on almost every Monkees album except one, perhaps the most important of the band’s career.

Exclusive: Actor Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll) has signed with Stagecoach Entertainment for management.
Barnett is perhaps best known for his starring role opposite Natasha Lyonne on the Emmy-winning series Russian Doll, which Lyonne created with Leslye Headland and Amy Poehler for Netflix. The show centers on Nadia (Lyonne), a cynical young woman in New York City who keeps dying and returning to the party that’s being thrown in her honor on that same evening, ultimately trying to find a way out of this strange time loop. Barnett’s character, Alan Zaveri, comes to bond with Nadia, given the fact that he is likewise stuck in this mysterious loop. Russian Doll returned for its anticipated second season in April, having debuted on Netflix in February of 2019.
A Juilliard graduate, Barnett played the lead role of Peter Mills on NBC’s hit series Chicago Fire over the course of its first three seasons.

Chicago Fire is saying goodbye to another paramedic.
Chicago Fire Season 9 Episode 9 said goodbye to its newest medic, Gianna Mackey, but was it for real?
Adriyan Rae joined the cast as a series regular for Chicago Fire Season 9, leading to some fans questioning whether the actress would be back.
If you watch Chicago Fire online, you know Mackey was given the opportunity to work at another firehouse, which would give her the means to advance in her career.
That, coupled with the fact that she was struggling to work because she worried about Cruz on calls. It was quite the twist, but is Rae out of the series?
“Adriyan let us know she had some private reasons to leave Chicago,” showrunner Derek Haas explained to EW.com, confirming the actress was exiting.
“To hear that as a showrunner, you absolutely respect what an actor needs. All I can say is we love her,...

Chicago Fire has lost yet another paramedic: Adriyan Rae, who joined this season as newbie medic Gianna Mackey, has exited the NBC drama, TVLine has confirmed.
In Wednesday’s episode, Mackey was offered a position at another firehouse, which would allow for the opportunity for future advancement. After confessing to Cruz that she worries about him on calls and gets distracted, Mackey decided to accept the job offer and transfer. (In related news, it seemed like Boden might have tapped Gallo’s ex Violet as Mackey’s replacement.)

Since my all-time favorite TV series is "The Honeymooners", the legendary sitcom that was originally broadcast in 1950s, one might think I would have been overjoyed at the prospect of seeing the show's new incarnation as a big-budget musical production that just premiered at the prestigious Papermill Playhouse in Millburn, New Jersey, a venue so revered that it was honored with a special Tony award. In reality, I had considerable trepidation about seeing the show. The characters in the TV series- bus driver Ralph Kramden, his devoted but long-suffering wife Alice and their best friends, sewer worker Ed Norton and his wife Trixie- have been ingrained in the minds of every American baby boomer. In fact, the re-runs have rarely left the New York airwaves even sixty years after their original airings and the four main cast members- Jackie Gleason, Audrey Meadows, Art Carney and Joyce Randolph...

Hmm, can you help me remember? Oh yeah. Severide said he’d have a baby with Shay. When having a baby seems a bit pricey she thinks about riding the Severide express until Papa Shay swoops in with the cash to get his little girl knocked up. Now who said her parents never gave her anything?
Severide wanders into Central Perk where Casey is tying his shoes and pretending not to see Severide. They do that thing where they look at each other from underneath their...

Previously on Chicago Fire, Casey had a sleepover with Andy Darden’s widow, Mills decked Severide’s dad and was rewarded with an invitation to join an elite squad dedicated to investigating decades-old feuds. Shay asked Severide to be her baby daddy making the straight Shayveride shippers happy and causing many lesbians to bail on the show entirely. You know how shows have warnings about mature content? This episode needs a “you may want a drink for at least one of the storylines” warning. Seriously, lesbians, find yourself a brew.
We start this week with Heather Darden folding up the blanket on the sofa where she slept the entire night through and did not enjoy the man candy that is Matthew Casey. Previously on Chicago Fire, Benny Severide arrived straight from his trip to New York where he shot a Senator, framed Peter Burke, and disappointed his son Neal. Wrong show? Right. Ok, he popped in from his beautiful hobo camp to grill Shay about her sexual orientation, and stir up trouble at the fire fighter prom. Dawson and Mills made the decision to come out as a couple, Casey did his best Finn Hudson and told Mills to “treat her right,” and Shay decided the best way to get over her ex was to get under several hot ladies. No? Damnit. She decided that the only way to fill that Clarice and Wesley shaped hole was to fill it with some sperm.
We start the episode with Dawson standing alone along the side of the road holding two coffee cups. A black SUV pulls up and it’s the Chief.

Previously on Chicago Fire Casey’s mom shacked up with her old cell mate, Severide helped Renee the First, Cruz found religion in a greeting card aisle, and Dawson, Herrmann, and Otis found Pandora’s box in their bar. We have seen Leslie Elizabeth Shay do everything on this show. She’s been stuck with a needle, held at gunpoint, used an unauthorized taser, hit by a truck, and now we know she’s lost it because she’s vacuuming in the middle of the night. Her hair is crazy, she...

Previously on Chicago Fire everything was unicorns and rainbows in celebration of Shay doing what Cat McKenzie couldn’t and living through getting hit by a truck while gay. Severide asked for help, Shay moved back in with him, and Mills and Dawson played doctor.
We pick up where we left off last week, with Gabriela Dawson. She’s waking up in bed and Mills is missing. She panics, not because he’s gone but because she wants to double check that she’s just as smoking hot as she was the night before. Yep still insanely gorgeous.
She pops out of bed and puts on one of those absurd mishmash of clothes that you would only see during sorority hazing but totally works in a “I just got laid and can’t think about anything at all” kind of way. I’ll just be over...

So this is it: We find out if we have another lesbian cut down in her prime by a television writer wielding a vehicle or if Shay will live to quip another day.
We start where the last episode ended with our favorite EMTs in the back of a badly battered ambulance, gauze and other supplies strewn everywhere and Dawson is lying on her back, blood all over her face. She moves and calls out for Shay before getting up and finding Shay unconscious on the floor of the rig. Dawson says “Shay, sweetie, you’ve got to be okay,” before catching herself and saying “you’re going to be okay.” She’s struggling to keep it together as she’s checking Shay’s eyes and her vision swims a bit as another ambulance shows up.

Previously on Chicago Fire — oh who cares? It’s all leading to the Shawson cliffhanger. Let’s just hold hands as we get through it together and try to relax until January is here.
The episode opens with Cruz walking into an empty warehouse in his turnouts to meet with Flaco, the head of Leon’s gang. When Cruz doesn’t have the ten thousand dollars Flaco wants to let Leon out of the gang Flaco shoots Leon. Thankfully, it’s a dream and Cruz wakes up in the firehouse.
Swagger alert: It’s the lovely Shawson ladies sauntering into the firehouse. Shay tells Peter Mills that the Christmas lights blew off the house and he says he’ll fix it. Shay cracks “oh, it’s the firefighter who saved Christmas,” and I fall in love with her a little more. Peter Mills scurries off with a simple “as you wish.

Chicago Fire fans are in for a real Treat. The NBC drama has hired former Everwood star, Treat Williams to play another fatherly role.
Taylor Kinney’s character, Lieutenant Kelly Severide, is one of the show’s leads and execs have hired Treat Williams to portray his dad, Benny Severide, in multiple episodes starting this January.
The Lieutenant is described as being “brash” and “unflappable”. He leads Rescue Squad 3 and struggles with intense spinal pain that has come on as the result of a past rescue mission. According to TV Guide, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree in the Severide family.
The character of Benny, which has gone to Williams, is another “tough guy” and former career fireman. Father and son are not exactly estranged, but they are not best buds either. They seem to pop in and out of each other’s lives, but perhaps their relationship will be “on again,...

Previously on Chicago Fire we have baby drama with Shay’s ex who has ditched her baby papa for a vacation Chez Shay. Severide is popping horse pills, Casey wants to be popping out babies, and Hallie thinks she’d rather stay skinny, get sleep, and not change diapers.
This episode starts out with the crew called out to the train tracks where the conductor thinks he may have hit someone. This is especially creepy given the disturbing coverage of the man in NYC who was pushed onto the tracks and killed when he was hit by a train. Once we move past that horrific coincidence we can take on the accident in the show. They find one kid, who climbed into the tunnel with his sister, trapped under the train. They get him out and he seems likely to be all right after a trip to the hospital with team Shawson.

Last week on Chicago Fire, Lt. Casey got a couple unexpected visitors to work. Det. Voight brought slashed tires, a stolen gym bag, and a wad of dirty money. Hallie jogged herself over to the fire house for a quickie and told the hospital she was on a house call.
Dawson and Mills flirted, Severide ditched the office lady, and Shay had an awkward run-in with an ex-girlfriend whose lesbianism she may have overestimated.
This week we hop right in with Casey dropping by Voight’s office for a different kind of quickie. He yells and Voight yells and, frankly, I am a little bored of these guys doing this dance. Either make out or kick each other’s asses already.
Either drop your gloves and fight or go make out already
Casey and the gang are called to rescue a guy who has gotten his arm stuck in some machinery.

Previously on Chicago Fire we learned that Shay can pull with the ladies, Dawson loves Joey Casey and wants to be a doctor. Casey loves Hallie, who is already a doctor, and Severide is more bark than bite. I have to say this episode was a huge improvement over the prior ones. The different stories meshed better and came together in ways that they haven’t in the first two episodes.
The episode opens with Peter Mills jinxing the crew as it was throwing a no-hitter of a shift. They are called to the scene of a two car accident. One car is perched on top of a barrier, upside down and the crew has to rush to keep the car from going over the edge. Our hero, Lt. So, welcome to Chicago Fire, the show about firefighters from the guy who we know best for this sound and bringing some seriously hot, smart ladies to the small screen. If you loved Abby Carmichael and Olivia Benson you might be willing to give this show, with an actual lesbian character, a shot.
There was a lot of “getting to know you” stuff in this episode. They really crammed every bit of backstory they could. The only thing missing were school pictures of each character complete with that laser backdrop popular in the 1980s.
The episode opens with everyone jumping from Engine 81 in the rig to head out to a fire. We meet Darden as he puts on his mask sideways and clowns around in the truck. I like him immediately.
Lt. Casey (formerly known as Dr. Chase on House but without the hair or the Aussie accent) radios Lt.

NBC debuted its new drama from "Law & Order" boss Dick Wolf on Wednesday -- but did "Chicago Fire" heat up enough for you to keep watching?
Starring "House's" Jesse Spencer and "The Vampire Diaries'" Taylor Kinney as the leaders of the fire and rescue squad in a Chicago firehouse.
Lt. Matthew Casey (Spencer) and Lt. Kelly Severide (Kinney) blame each other for the death of a colleague and friend, so when rookie fireman Peter Mills (Charlie Barnett) arrives, he walks into a deeply divided house. The tension between Casey and Severide is easily the most compelling part of the pilot, particularly when we see that it stems from their own personal demons -- Casey is splitting from his wife, while Severide is hiding a troublesome secret.
We've seen the next two episodes, too, and we will say -- if the first episode leans toward the melodrama in the firehouse,...
