- Exactly one year later after guitarist Duane Allman died ,bassist Berry Oakley was also killed in an accident. During this time, Minkin interviewed the remaining members of The Allman Brothers Band on his radio show "The King Biscuit Flower Hour.
- Appeared in legendary "Murray 'The K' Easter Special" at The RKO 58th street theater, alongside The Who, Cream, The Young Rascals, The Blues Project, Simon and Garfunkel, Mitch Ryder, The Detroit Wheels and Wilson Picket.
- Performed improvisational skits backstage at "Murray 'The K' show with Keith Moon in front of all the other famous musicians.
- Minkin came up with the name "The King Biscuit Flower Hour" based on iconic blues harpist Sonny Boy Williamson's blues radio show. Originally titled "King Biscuit Time", sponsored by The King Biscuit Flour Company. Minkin updated to a hip seventies theme by changing Flour to Flower.
- Met his future wife Ina Lea Meibach (The WHO's attorney) backstage at infamous Forrest Hills concert for The Who, when a fan was stabbed.
- Met Eric Brenner, a life long King Biscuit Flower Hour fan, on set of Santa with Muscles (1996). During 2016, in an attempt to bring back the show, Brenner went to his contacts at KLOS and 100.3 The Sound radio for a possible King Biscuit revival. After initial interest in the project, Brenner and Minkin were immediately informed by the owner of Wolfgang's Vault, who owns the King Biscuit name, not to use it.
