Young Sheldon had a good run. The CBS sitcom and The Big Bang Theory prequel starring Iain Armitage, Annie Potts, and co. is now wrapping with its seventh and final season. Undoubtedly, it is much heavier on the cast to say goodbye to the show that was started about seven years ago, focusing on the younger version of Sheldon Cooper.

For Potts, it is far too hard to wrap up the show as the actor revealed that she was devastated by the news of the show ending with the seventh season. With viewership that peaked at nearly 14 million an episode, Young Sheldon is one of the most successful sitcoms in recent memory.
And the show is spun off from The Big Bang Theory, which, despite never gaining a foothold with critics, was one of the most-watched sitcoms of all time, serving as CBS' biggest hit for much its 12-season run.
So it comes as no surprise that yet another Sheldon-verse spinoff will be coming to CBS in the very near future.
What is somewhat surprising, however, is the fact that some of the franchise's biggest stars will be reprising their roles for the upcoming Young Sheldon series finale.
It was announced this week that both Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will be returning to CBS as Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler.
Parsons is an executive producer on Young Sheldon, and he's been narrating the series since its first episode.

Shamy fans rejoice! Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will reprise their roles from The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon Lee Cooper, and Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler, respectively, for the series finale of the Young Sheldon prequel series! Think again if we can share details about the couple’s reunion! The powers that be are keeping that business under wraps. Will they feature in a time skip? Does Young Sheldon (Iain Armitage) invent a time machine? The mystery remains.
The couple last appeared in the May 2019 series finale of The Big Bang Theory, which included a surprisingly emotional moment of self-reflection by Parsons’ Sheldon Cooper during a Nobel Prize acceptance speech. While Young Sheldon is beloved by Big Bang Theory fans, a reunion with Sheldon and Amy will surely gain significant attention for the forthcoming finale.

It wasn’t surprising when news broke that CBS was ending Young Sheldon last year.
Sheldon (Iain Armitage) is growing up and is slowly but surely getting to the age we know he leaves his family behind to follow his dreams.
With the season well underway — and a big death on the horizon — CBS is already plotting an extension of the franchise.
This week, the network went straight-to-series on a sequel featuring Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Mandy (Emily Osment) as they raise their family in Texas.
The new series marks the fourth in the franchise after The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, and an untitled spinoff at Max.
The series order means the network was confident enough to forego the traditional pilot order.

Bazinga again! “The Big Bang Theory” stars Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will guest star on the series finale of CBS’ “Young Sheldon,” reuniting as Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler. Details of the episode, which airs Thursday, May 16, and how Parsons and Bialik will be incorporated into it, remains a secret.
Parsons, of course, has been a part of “Young Sheldon” from the beginning, serving as the show’s narrator and as one of its executive producers. But this reps the first time the duo has been on screen together since the May 2019 series finale of “The Big Bang Theory,” and it also marks the first on-camera appearance of their characters — as grown-up Sheldon and Amy.

The Big Bang Theory-verse is officially expanding as CBS on Tuesday greenlighted a new half-hour, multi-camera comedy series starring Montana Jordan and Emily Osment for broadcast in the 2024-2025 season.
Created by the producing team behind The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon — Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Steve Holland — the sequel series follows Young Sheldon’s Georgie (Jordan) and Mandy (Osment) as they raise their young family in Texas while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting and marriage.
Deadline reported in January that the spinoff was in the works as the two leads were working on their deals. Additional notes included Lorre, Molaro and Holland’s history with the franchise as all three have worked on The Big Bang Theory or Young Sheldon (or both simultaneously) since the launch of the mothership series, which Lorre co-created, in 2007. As is appropriate for a franchise that started with The Big Bang Theory, its universe keeps expanding.
CBS has formally ordered a spinoff of Young Sheldon — itself a Big Bang prequel — that will focus on Georgie (Montana Jordan), Sheldon’s older brother, and his fiancée, Mandy (Emily Osment), as they raise their young family in Texas. The project has been in the works since January, and a straight-to-series order was expected after deals closed.
Young Sheldon executive producers Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Steve Holland will continue in their roles on the new series, which will be part of CBS’ 2024-25 slate. Warner Bros. TV, Lorre’s longtime home, is producing.

The (early) life story of Sheldon Cooper made it easier to figure out when to end Young Sheldon.
While addressing reporters Tuesday on Stage 19 of the Warner Bros lot, executive producer Steve Holland explained why the decision was made to wrap up the comedy in its seventh season on CBS.
“There are certain things we know happen in Sheldon’s life at 14,” explained Holland. “We started talking about the future of show, and what it looked like. This is the right time for this story to come to an end, knowing that at 14, he goes off to Cal Tech. It felt like the right time to end it strong while it was on top.”
“Can’t we just leave it at I’m tall and cool and I look like Jim [Parsons] now?” quipped star Iain Armitage, who plays the title character first created by Parsons in The Big Bang Theory.

Young Sheldon might be ending, but CBS isn’t saying goodbye to the Cooper family entirely. The network is reportedly developing a spinoff series focused on Sheldon’s older brother Georgie and his fiancée, Mandy.
‘Young Sheldon’ spinoff will focus on Georgie and Mandy (L-r) Montana Jordan as Georgie Cooper and Emily Osment as Mandy McAllister in ‘Young Sheldon’ Season 7 | Sonja Flemming/CBS ©2023 CBS Broadcasting, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
According to TVLine, the Young Sheldon spinoff will focus on Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Mandy (Emily Osment). The unlikely couple recently welcomed their daughter, Constance, and then got engaged in the season 6 finale.
CBS is apparently close to a direct-to-series order for the new show. It will likely be a multi-camera sitcom taped before a live studio audience. Jordan and Osment are expected to star. However, there’s no word yet on whether other Young Sheldon cast members will appear.

Variety’s annual Showrunners Dinner presented by A+E Studios on Thursday night gathered writers recognized on the publication’s annual TV Producers Impact List, as well as several of this year’s Emmy nominees. In addition, megaproducer Chuck Lorre was honored with Variety’s first Norman Lear Award.
Held at Merois, on the rooftop of the Pendry West Hollywood, the Variety Showrunners Dinner included a very funny acceptance speech by Lorre, who pointed out some of the similarities — but more humorously, the differences — between the two icons.
“I think everyone here understands the enormity and significance of Norman Lear’s body of work,” Lorre began. “So in accepting this award, I don’t think it’s false modesty to take a moment and focus on the very large differences between his career and my own. For starters, Norman Lear began his career writing for Hollywood legends like Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis.

Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady’s The Big Bang Theory is the gift that keeps giving at CBS, as another spinoff of the beloved ensemble comedy is in the works. As you’re likely to know, The Big Bang Theory paved the way for Young Sheldon, a series focusing on the early days of Big Bang’s Sheldon Lee Cooper, Ph.D., Sc.D (Jim Parsons). After six incredibly successful seasons, Young Sheldon will end with its season seven finale. Thankfully for the Young Sheldon spinoff fans, another show revolving around Georgie Cooper and his fiancée Mandy McAllister, played on the show by Montana Jordan and Emily Osment, is nearing a straight-to-series order at CBS.
The Young Sheldon spinoff hails from the series’ executive producers Steve Holland, Steven Molaro, Chuck Lorre, and Warner Bros. Television. According to Deadline, deals are ongoing for Jordan and Osment to reprise their roles. The spinoff...

“Young Sheldon” may be ending its run, but that’s not the end of the line for “The Big Bang Theory” universe. According to insiders, CBS is nearing a deal with Warner Bros. TV for a direct-to-series order on a “Young Sheldon” spinoff that focuses on the characters of Georgie and Mandy. (Both CBS and Warner Bros. TV declined comment.)
“Young Sheldon” executive producers Steve Holland, Steven Molaro and Chuck Lorre would be behind the spinoff series as well, and are expected to write the first episode together. And here’s the twist: The Georgie and Mandy spinoff is being planned as a multi-camera comedy — unlike the single-camera “Young Sheldon.”
That could rep the first time that a multi-camera sitcom (“The Big Bang Theory”) was spun off to a single-camera comedy (“Young Sheldon”), which then in turn is spun-off back to another multi-camera show. Stars Montana Jordan and Emily Osment,...

Young Sheldon is coming to an end this season but the franchise will live on at CBS. The network is closing in on a straight-to-series order to a multi-camera spinoff of Young Sheldon from the series’ executive producers Steve Holland, Steven Molaro and Chuck Lorre and studio Warner Bros Television, sources tell Deadline. The new series will center on the characters of Georgie Cooper and his fiancée Mandy McAllister, played on the show by Montana Jordan and Emily Osment, respectively.
I hear deals with Jordan and Osment are still being worked out but the duo are expected to reprise their roles in the spinoff, which is poised to get a 13-episode order for the 2024-25 season. Reps for CBS and Wbtv declined comment.

Updated with Annie Potts reaction: Young Sheldon star Iain Armitage is promising “the best seventh season we can possibly make,” after hearing the news that the upcoming Season 7 will be the last for the hit Big Bang Theory spinoff.

CBS’ No. 1 comedy series Young Sheldon is coming to an end. The Big Bang Theory spinoff will conclude with the upcoming seventh season, which will consist of 14 episodes. Young Sheldon will air a one-hour series finale on Thursday, May 16, at 8 Pm.

The “Big Bang Theory” prequel series is set to return on Feb. 15, with the one-hour series finale set to air on May 16. Exclusive: Rachel Bay Jones and Will Sasso have joined Young Sheldon. The pair will have recurring guest roles on the current season of the CBS sitcom as the parents of Mandy (Emily Osment).
Jones will play Audrey McCallister, Mandy’s domineering mother. She seems sweet, but is actually a force to be reckoned with both in her daughter’s life and in her marriage. She is unhappy with Mandy’s life choices (especially the one to have a baby with Georgie) and isn’t afraid to say so.

Adios, Season 5 of Young Sheldon! Laundromat/backroom casino partners Mee-maw (Annie Potts) and Georgie (Montana Jordan) “head down to Mexico in Georgie’s car to acquire a dangerous substance,” says exec producer Steven Molaro, while at home in East Texas, parents Mary (Zoe Perry) and George (Lance Barber) are less than thrilled to be job hunting. Sheldon (Iain Armitage), 12, feels the same about a milestone. “Puberty is change, and in Sheldon’s world, change is usually a bummer,” Molaro says. Expect cliffhangers and a “fun and colorful” Big Bang Theory Easter egg at the very end! Young Sheldon, Season 5 Finale, Thursday, May 19, 8/7c, CBS...

We’ll be seeing more of Mandy McAllister in the upcoming sixth season of Young Sheldon. Emily Osment, who joined the fifth season of the CBS comedy as a recurring, has been promoted to series regular for Season 6.
Osment’s Mandy McAllister is an attractive, strong willed woman in her late twenties who is struggling with the discovery that she’s pregnant with Georgie’s (Montana Jordan) baby. She’s also dealing with the fact that Georgie lied to her about how young he is.
As Season 5 winds down, Mary (Zoe Perry) is feeling alienated from her Church after the news is out about Georgie, George Sr’s (Lance Barber) job as a high school football coach is in jeopardy and MeeMaw (Annie Potts) and Dale (Craig T. Nelson) have broken up.
Young Sheldon is from Executive Producers Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Steve Holland. The series is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions Inc.

Thursday’s 100th episode of Young Sheldon on CBS turned out to be less of a celebration of the show’s longevity, and more about how the Cooper kids are entering adulthood. Here, Co-Creator and Executive Producer Steven Molaro addresses the episode’s significant plot points, including Missy’s telling comment about Sheldon’s sexuality and whether Georgie is ready to be a dad.
Deadline: Since it was the 100th episode, what went through your mind? Were you like, ‘we gotta go big?’ and get former characters from The Big Bang Theory?
Steven Molaro In fact, it was the opposite. We didn’t want to force some kind of quote unquote special episode because it happened to be the number 100. We really just wanted to come up with an episode that we were excited to write and not be constrained by the fact that we were celebrating a number that...
