Sony’s “Deal of the Week” is fast becoming one of the best bargains in gaming right now.
Indeed, from 84% off Arc System Works’ 3v3 tag-team brawler Dragon Ball FighterZ to 80% off Monolith Games’ epic action-rpg Middle-earth: Shadow Of War, the Japanese giant’s weekly promotions have started to become a real godsend to prudent gamers who’re looking to save a few bob, while also getting to experience some of the finest titles the PlayStation Store has to offer. And thankfully, Sony’s latest weekly deal is no different.
Yes, the PlayStation Store has just significantly discounted one of PS4’s most popular and best-selling games. Specifically, the title in question is Ubisoft’s open-world first-person shooter Far Cry 5, which can be yours to own for the modest price of just $9! That’s right, until July 23rd, all PS4 owners can nab a copy of the critically acclaimed action-adventure game,...

While it might not have been the most traditional video game out there, last year’s Death Stranding was a critical and commercial success, having racked up a handful of perfect review scores, including one from our very own David Morgan. Following the fallout between studio head Hideo Kojima and publisher Konami, it seemed like any projects the two had been working on (including a brand new Silent Hill game) would be axed permanently, but a recent social media post has some gamers rethinking their stance on the matter.
A tweet from Kojima Production’s official Twitter account shows a staged picture of Aki Saito, the studio’s head of communication. At first glance, the photo in question is pretty standard stuff, but there are a few odd inclusions that have begun to turn heads. For starters, the post itself features the phrase “sorry to be silent,” which some have...

Two people have tested positive for HIV after receiving “vampire facials,” a treatment that involves injecting blood platelets into a person’s skin, from VIP Spa, a clinic in New Mexico.
The spa in Albequerque was actually shut down last year, following reports that a patient had received an “unspecified infection” shortly after getting a vampire facial. An investigation by the New Mexico Department of Health later discovered unsafe needle storage and handling practices at VIP Spa, thus increasing the risk of the transmission of blood-borne infections.

Last week saw the official launch of Akuarel, a digital database for minorities seeking work in Hollywood and other creative industries. It’s the brainchild of April Reign, best known as the creator of #OscarsSoWhite, who’s been working on the initiative for two years; the Multicultural Media Correspondents Association built the website itself and partnered with the Motion Picture Association of America on the project.
“This answers one of the issues raised by #OscarsSoWhite of studios saying, ‘We want to work with people from marginalized communities, but we just don’t know where to find them,’” Reign told Mic in a recent interview. “This is going to drop them right in their lap.”
“Our main objective now is to get Akuarel populated by the talent and the stakeholders themselves,” added David Morgan of the Mmca. “The value to the studios will be once it’s sufficiently populated. A lot...

American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan won the 2016 Nobel Prize in literature on Thursday, a stunning announcement that for the first time bestowed the prestigious award on a musician.
The Swedish Academy cited Dylan for "having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition."
Reporters and others gathered for the announcement at the academy's headquarters in Stockholm's Old Town reacted with a loud cheer as his name was read out.

Dylan, who turned 75 in May, had been mentioned in the Nobel speculation for years, but few experts expected the academy to extend the prestigious award to a genre such as popular music.
The academy's permanent secretary, Sara Danius, said that while Dylan performs his poetry in the form of songs, that's no different from the ancient Greeks, whose works were often performed to music.
"Bob Dylan writes poetry for the ear," she said. "But...

Though Star Wars fandom is full of disagreements and divisions, most of us fanboys are in agreement about a few things: Jedi, lightsabers and force powers are awesome. Anything Timothy Zahn writes is going to be better than anything Kevin J. Anderson writes. And Lucas probably would have had a better script for The Phantom Menace if he’d hired a seven-year-old to write it.
Enter the Comic Irregulars (Andrew Coker, Andrew Shellshear, David Karlov, David McLeish, David Morgan-Mar, Ian Boreham, Loki Patrick, and Steven Irrgang), who you might recall from their work on the action figure/photo capture comic Irregular Webcomic. Inspired by Shamus Young’s work on Dm of the Rings, they ask the question, “What if Star Wars was a roleplaying campaign that went far, far away from what the Game Master intended?”
And thus was born Darths & Droids.
