Christmas is a time for feel-good movies. It’s a Wonderful Life, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and the usual Hallmark Hall of Fame drivel that hits the airwaves every December. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the mainstream Christmas classics as much as the next guy. But at night, when my family is all snug in their beds, that’s when I drag out my sick and twisted Christmas collection…
Black Christmas, Christmas Evil, Silent Night Deadly Night, Don’t Open Till Christmas, those are the films I like to cuddle up to with a spiked eggnog. What is my favorite? That’s a difficult question. I love them all for different reasons, but if I had to pick one, I would have to pick a recent import from Finland called Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale. A modern mashup of The Thing and the Krampus mythology, it is...

John Dies at the End (2012) Magnolia Home Entertainment Blu-ray and DVD Available Now
Finally, a new Don Coscarelli movie! After years of waiting, the cult auteur comes back with a lively adaptation of David Wong’s popular novel. A drug that induces an out-of-body experience sends its users across time and other dimensions. When some of them come back not quite human, an otherworldly invasion is set into motion. Suddenly, college dropouts John (Rob Mayes) and Dave (Chase Williamson) find themselves in an epic battle to save the world. Coscarelli’s surreal visual flair and black comic bent are in full effect here. Hopefully, its critical success will ensure that the beloved filmmaker won't have to wait another ten years to make a film.
Special Features:
· Feature-length audio commentary by Coscarelli, Williamson, Mayes and producer Brad Baruh
· Seven deleted...

A sporting new March Madness edition of the Foycast has arrived, and you didn’t even have to wait half a year for it. If you’re into schlocky, obscure, offbeat sports flicks, then this edition will be a treat for you. The Karate Kid goes diving! Leif Garrett plays foosball! Post-apocalyptic snooker pool!
Plus there's much, much more of the rambling nonsense you’ve come to expect.
I’m joined by Matt Fini for a special Foycast primarily about a pair of obscure, one-of-a-kind, underdog sports movies that must be seen to be believed. Fini and I spend about 20 minutes unleashing our mutual admiration society for the little-seen gem Diving In. What’s Diving In, why do we both love it, why should you see it, and why does it deserve more recognition than it gets? You’ll have to listen and find out.

Black Christmas
Black Christmas (the 1974 version of course), generally acknowledged as the forerunner of the ‘slasher’. genre, is so graphic in its imagination that you don’t even need to see any gore or murder. Black Christmas, which holds up spectacularly well after almost 40 years, tells the tale of a group of sorority sisters that are hounded and...

Rene Cardona's Santa Claus movie from 1959 is so utterly bizarre that it transcends Christmas.
When the conversation rolls around to bad Christmas movies, there’s of course a broad spectrum from which to choose, Santa Claus (1959) being one of them. Given that nearly every Christmas movie ever made is insufferable to some degree, it’s generally easier, I’ve found, to break things down into categories that stretch from the simply godawful (Jingle All the Way) to the agonizingly painful (A Very Brady Christmas or that Marlo Thomas remake of It’s a Wonderful Life) to the merely baffling (the continued string of Home Alone sequels and reboots).
Of course there are some people who think they can bring the conversation to an abrupt end by pulling out Santa Claus Conquers the Martians as the last word on holiday cinema. There’s simply nothing more to say.

You are not drunk and you are not high. Well, maybe you are right now. Not like I’m peeping in your windows. What you are about to witness is not a chemical-induced hallucination. A skunk really does sing a love song to a parrot, and it's not a cartoon either.
With today being Cinco de Mayo, I thought it only fitting to bust out a B-Sides from South of the Border. Sadly, there are no El Santo musicals that I know of. However, there are insane Mexican musicals like 1960’s Little Red Riding Hood. You know, the movie version of the classic fairy tale where the bumbling big bad wolf and his high-pitch voiced sidekick Stinky the Skunk scheme to devour Little Red Riding Hood, but she has even bigger problems because she has to venture into an ominous cave to confront the demon that has been kidnapping children from her village.

Yesterday our friends at Oh Have You Seen This (we're using "friends" here in the Facebook sense) posted a video we couldn't get out of our heads. It's a clip from a movie called "The Secret Of Magic Island," and it seems to star nothing but domesticated animals. The featured cast -- a dog and a handful of geese, ducks and chickens -- aren't simply performing in stylized animalish ways, like your Beethovens or Shaggy Dogs. No -- they're enacting a complex, very human scene: a visit to the fancy photographer's.
Two questions surfaced in the office: how did the filmmakers get the animals to do this? And also, what in the hell is this? We decided to Google for answers.
In the movies, the Internet is a reliable, accurate resource on any matter of subjects, real or invented. Bella Swan was able to brush up on vampires, werewolves, and...
