His last movies as a director came at the beginning of the 30s into being with "Sturm auf drei Herzen" (1930) and "Der Todesweg auf die Bernina" (1931). Afterwards he took part at some documentaries for few years.
Wolfgang Neff became a busy movie director in the 20s where he realised movies for different genres.
He made his stage debut at the theater in Lüneburg in 1903 and in the next years followed engagements in numerous other cities before he came to Berlin in 1910. There he was not only active as a stage actor but also as a stage director.
The director and actor Wolfgang Neff tried different jobs in order to earn his living. Among others he worked in his uncle's glassware export firm, later he was a clerk and he even studied painting.
He was able to launch a successful film career as a director in 1916 and he shot his first movie with "Und die Gerechtigkeit fand den Weg" (1916).
It was only a small step from the stage to the film business in Berlin. Wolfgang Neff made his film debut as an actor in 1913 .
When he decided to take acting lesson in 1900 he found that field of worked he became fascinated.
