Ontario, June 12 (Ians) Chinese Taipei’s Ct Pan fell one shot shy of joining a playoff at the Canadian Open on Sunday as a tied third finish maintained his momentum following a recent return from a lengthy wrist injury.
Holding an overnight two-shot lead, the 31-year-old Pan closed with a 2-under 70 at Oakdale Golf and Country Club in Toronto as local favourite Nick Taylor sank a sensational 72-foot eagle conversion at the fourth extra hole to defeat England’s Tommy Fleetwood and send the home crowds into raptures.
Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy, the reigning FedExCup champion, fell short in his bid for a three-peat with a closing 72 leaving him in tied ninth at the US$9 million PGA Tour event.
Pan was disappointed he failed to secure a second career PGA Tour win, although the high finish ensured a second successive top five result following a solo fourth at the recent AT&T Byron Nelson.

Fort Worth (USA), May 26 (Ians) Korean duo Si Woo Kim and Byeong Hun An produced solid starts with matching 3-under 67s at the Charles Schwab Challenge golf tournament for a share of seventh position, five back of runaway first-round leader, Harry Hall of England.
The 27-year-old Kim, who is ranked 11th on the PGA Tour’s FedExCup points list, opened with three consecutive birdies from the 10th to 12th holes on Thursday before trading two more birdies against as many bogeys in the US$8.7 million PGA Tour event at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
An, chasing a first PGA Tour win, also got out of the blocks quickly with birdies on Hole Nos. 11, 12, 13 and 14 before picking up another shot on the first hole. However, he dropped bogeys on the fourth and sixth holes to join Kim in a 15-way tie for seventh place who including world No. 1 and...

McKinney, Texas, May 15 (Ians) Korea’s Si Woo Kim came up one stroke shy and settled for tied second place in the AT&T Byron Nelson even as Jason Day of Australia, completed an emotional victory for his 13th PGA Tour victory following a five-year title drought.
Kim fought courageously at Tpc Craig Ranch inn Dallas, Texas with a final round of 8-under 63 for a 22-under 262 total as his bid for a fifth PGA Tour victory and a second of the season was thwarted by playing partner Day, who closed with a brilliant 62 for a one-stroke victory.
It was also a memorable day for Chinese Taipei’s C.T. Pan, who signed for a career low 62 to finish solo fourth on 263 having recently come back from an injury layoff due to a wrist problem. Co-overnight leader Marty Zecheng Dou of China settled for tied fifth place for his career first top-...

What is it about the game of golf that makes good cinema? We can barely keep our eyes open during the PGA Tour. Its tranquil vibes are more relaxing than a glass of warm milk. And we can't name but a handful of players: Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, er... Is there a famous "Dave" in there? Still, we could pop in and enjoy at least a dozen films about the sport at a moment's notice on a lazy Saturday afternoon. There's something majestic about the luscious greens, the stillness of the crowd, the whispered play-by-play, and the distant thwack of a ball that translates to the big screen.
Or maybe it's the class struggle, as golf is seen as a gentleman's sport designed for the wealthy. A round of golf at Pebble Beach will set you back nearly 600! Or perhaps we're intoxicated by the psychology of the game,...

What's more interesting than watching Tiger Woods lock up a historic win at The Masters?? Golf With The President ... at least, that was the case for Dallas Cowboys legends Emmitt Smith and Tony Romo, who bailed on watching Tiger to play 18 with Barack Obama!! It all went down somewhere in Texas this weekend ... when Emmitt, Romo, Barack and former Dallas mayor Ron Kirk hit the links for a round of golf. Unclear who in the...

The zany Lewis found an ideal straight man in crooner Dean Martin in 1945. They took their stage act to radio, then television, and then to film, where they appeared together 17 times. A haunted castle, a beautiful ghost and a menacing zombie gave Lewis plenty of comedy ammo in 1953’s “Scared Stiff.” Golf pros of the era Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Byron Nelson and Julius Boros joined Martin and Lewis in “The Caddy,” which also featured the Dean Martin classic song “That’s Amore.” Don’t let the title “Artists and Models” fool you. Shirley MacLaine co-starred in this 1955 gem about a.

I put off reviewing the December cover issues of the Before Watchmen event because two of the five issues never arrived. After waiting a few days, I decided to get a hold of DC and found out they had been delayed for some reason or another. Fans of the "Watchmen" prequels were no doubt disappointed to find that the latest entries in both the Silk Spectre and Comedian books weren't hitting shelves as scheduled. However, we did get the next chapters in Rorschach, Dr. Manhattan, and the Minutemen's adventures.
Before Watchmen: Rorschach Issue #2 kicked off the month with a literal bang as the title vigilante continues his one man war against the felonious scum of New York City. His unmercifully violent handiwork has garnered the attention of crime lord Rawhead, who continues his mission to put an end to the masked avenger. The question is, "How much damage can...

Film rights to the bestselling book, The Match: The Day the Game of Golf Changed Forever, could be back on the market after a California appellate court ruling on Wednesday. The book was authored by Twin Peaks co-creator Mark Frost and told the story of two millionaires, Eddie Lowery and George Coleman, who made an off-the-cut bet in 1956 that set off a golfing duel between golf legends Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson and two top amateurs, Harvie Ward and Ken Venturi. Frost sold film rights to his work to Mvp Productions -- or did he? That's been

Memorial Day 2011 is here and while we should all take time to thank a veteran and active servicemen and women, it also means for us TVphiles - lots of good programming. So either settle in with some popcorn or make sure your DVR is ready to go.
There are movie marathons. Syfy is busting out its greatest hits in the giant monster oeuvre on Friday, followed by "Star Trek" movies all weekend. TCM and AMC are showing nothing but military movies, including classics like "All Quiet on the Western Front," "From Here to Eternity" and "Patton."
If marathons are your thing, you've got everything from "Firefly" and "Doctor Who" to "House Hunters" and "How It's Made." And if you're a sports fan, while the NBA playoffs are on hiatus, you can still watch a ton of baseball, the 2011 French Open or the annual Memorial Day race the Indianapolis 500.

Longtime pro golfer Tom Watson offers up his opinion of fellow athlete Tiger Woods, telling USA Today he thinks Tiger needs to own up to his actions on and off the golf course. "I'll let the cat out of the bag," Watson told the newspaper while attending the Dubai Desert Classic. "Tiger has to take ownership of what he has done. He must get his personal life in order. I think that's what he's trying to do. And when he comes back he has to show some humility to the public." Watson, 60, said that his experience with Woods on the green was that he exemplified some bad manners. He hopes this will change when the pro golfer returns to the sport in April. "I feel that he has not carried the same stature that other great players that have come along like Jack (Nicklaus), Arnold (Palmer), Byron Nelson, the Hogans,...
