"Prince Rogers" was Nelson's stage name as a bandleader; he gave the
name to his son when he was born.
Passed away on the same day as R&B singer Aaliyah.
He was the son of Carrie (Jenkins) and Clarence Allen Nelson, both of whom were from Louisiana.
He left Prince's mother, Mattie Shaw, and left Prince, then 10, and his
sister, Tyka (then 8) fatherless. Prince and his father later
reconciled when Prince began rising to the top.
