Only three years before he was trapped in Arizona by a kingdom of tarantulas and a mere five years before he played James T. Kirk in Star Trek‘s first motion picture, William Shatner starred in the low budget thriller Impulse. And thanks to the team at Grindhouse Releasing, the world can finally witness another Shatner joint in all its restored 4k glory.
So does good ole’ Bill play the hero in this one? Uh no, not in the least. We get full on evil demented Shatner in the flesh. He portrays Matt Stone (not to be confused with the talented South Park creator), who is just your typical thumb-sucking, mini cigar chain-smoking, conniving, scheming faux financial investor. His prey are vulnerable and lonely women, who he exploits for their money with delusional promises of fortune, love and monogamous commitment. He’s a sociopath, a psychopath…all kinds of ‘paths.

One year, near Thanksgiving, one of my friends made an observation while we were at the grocery store about how many people were buying large quantities of alcohol. “Maybe they’re trying to get drunk so they won’t have to deal with all the family members they hate?” we theorized. This episode of Third Watch, however, centers on just that as Bosco tries to handle a family crisis on what might be the worst Thanksgiving ever. He’s operating on his own, given that Faith has the day off to spend with her family, which is a whole other drama unto itself. An unsupervised Bosco is always potentially hazardous to someone’s health.
It’s obvious from the beginning of the episode that Bosco lacks some social graces. Dispatched to deal with a lost child who allegedly doesn’t speak English, he manages to tick...

Following his arrest in Switzerland on Saturday, Oscar-winning director Roman Polanski has filed an appeal against his extradition to the United States while he remains in a Swiss jail for the “next few weeks,” officials said.
If L.A. prosecutors have their way, Polanski will be transported back to California for sentencing on a 31-year-old charge of “unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor” and his subsequent flee from the country. (For more details on the 1978 plea bargain, click here.)
In the past few days the Hollywood elite have come to his defense by signing a petition for his immediate release. The 138 names of film industry types include Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese, Tilda Swinton, Monica Bellucci, David Lynch, Jonathan Demme, John Landis, and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu. The petition reads, “It seems inadmissible to them that an international cultural event, paying homage to one of the greatest contemporary filmmakers, is used by the police to apprehend him.
