compositions include "The Touch of Your Lips," "I Hadn't Anyone Till
You," "Goodnight, Sweetheart," and his theme song, "The Very Thought of
You."
Noble's band specialised in ballads. His main vocalist was Al Bowlly, who was killed during a German air raid on London in April 1941.
Inducted into the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame in 1987.
The Ray Noble Orchestra was based at one of New York's most prestigious venues, the Rainbow Room. It gained national exposure on the Burns & Allen and Charlie McCarthy radio shows. Noble had recording contracts with HMV, Brunswick, Columbia and Victor.
Inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1996.
