He was a prominent Israeli author and advocate for peace between Israel and the Palestinians. His works have been translated into 45 languages.
Oz published more than 18 books in his lifetime, including "Black Box" and "In the Land of Israel." A month before his death, his essay collection "Dear Zealots: Letters from a Divided Land" was published.
Oz was so impressed by Shoah (1985) that he wrote 5 articles about the film.
He was the son of Fania (Musman), who was born in Rovno, Ukraine, and Yehuda Arie Klausner, who was born in Odessa and raised in Vilnius.
