Antony Partos and Sonar Music, the team behind the music of The Slap have led the nominees for the Australian Guild of Screen Composers, announced this morning while Burning Man, Storm Surfers 3D, Santa’s Apprentice and Needle are the four nominees for feature film score.

Today we pay tribute to the leading lights of Australian screen composition with the announcement of nominees for the 2012 Screen Music Awards. The event, to be held this year in Melbourne on Monday November 19th, is jointly staged by Apra (Australasian Performing Right Association) and the Agsc (Australian Guild of Screen Composers). It is the only Australian event where the music and screen industry gather to celebrate excellence in the composition of music for film and television.

Fashion retailer the Benetton Group has officially announced that the company will no longer sell any products with animal fur.
This now allows Benetton to join the company of fashion-free companies such as Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Bcbgmaxazriagroup, Gap Inc., Limited Brands, JCPenney and Overstock.com.
The company has received praise from the Humane Society of the United States. Andrew Page, senior director of the Fur-Free campaign for The Hsus, stated, "With their new fur-free policy, Benetton and all of its influential brands are sending a powerful message that cruelty has no place in fashion. We are thrilled to recognize Italy's largest retailer for setting a new standard of compassion - one which will undeniably reverberate throughout the global fashion industry."
The company's new policy will go into effect by the spring/summer collection of 2010 across all of the brands.
