- Ryan Pannell is a Canadian-born hedge fund manager, ocean conservationist, and committed philanthropist. Prior to his Predictive Modelling, Algorithmic Engineering, and Behavioural Finance work, Ryan was a pioneer in cryptographic web-based messaging technologies, studied theoretical physics, quantum mechanics, and cosmology, and enjoyed a successful early career as a film and television professional. Pannell started his film career as a grip, and worked as an assistant director, 2nd unit director, colourist, writer, producer, and director on numerous studio and independent films and television series.
Pannell began his creative path at an early age; his written works were first published at the age of 5, and by 26 he had written, produced, and directed his first feature film, Dragon City (1998). A swift transition in camera equipment saw him realised as a sought-after professional photographer (a portfolio reflective of shoots for Dior to Chanel, for publications such as Vogue). With each professional transition came a professional evolution vis-à-vis the defining of new skills. While working in mainstream film and television production, Pannell made a name for himself as a results-oriented creative problem solver, and ultimately leveraged his quick reflexes to wade into the lightning-paced tech start-up world in 2001. Ten years later, with 7 in 10 of his peers statistical ash, Pannell had not only survived - he had prevailed. He has worked in an advisory capacity with, and survived battle in the boardrooms of, companies and organisations such as NVIDIA, Scotiabank, the U.S. Department of Defence, and Google, and his cryptographic technologies have been used by Microsoft, VISA, and the Bank of Scotland, among others. TraumAID, a traumatic brain injury software product he developed, has saved thousands of lives in New York, Michigan, Kentucky, Iowa, and Missouri.
Since 2018, Pannell's professional focus has been in the world of finance, and he serves as CEO and Chair of Kaiju Worldwide, where he oversees a universe of companies and private funds whose operations span three continents and more than a dozen timezones. His philanthropic efforts are split between two causes profoundly significant to him: Providing assistance to underprivileged youth, and ocean conservation. Ryan is and has been a Coral Reef Alliance member, an Ocean Conservancy Partner, a member of The Shark Trust, and a Keystone Contributor of Shark Advocates International. He has donated time and resources to local schools wherever he's lived, and taught classes in visual storytelling and supplied hundreds of tablets annually to local schoolchildren when his family lived in Barbados for several years.
Ryan is an active sportsman with a deep love of the ocean. He enjoys stand-up paddling, freediving, is a certified Master Scuba Diver, and retired competitive polo player. He works and lives in Geneva with his family, and returns to Canada seasonally.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Damien Gilbert
