Amazon is heading to North Carolina with the creators of Netflix’s drama Outer Banks.
The retailer and streamer has handed out an eight-episode, straight-to-series order for The Runarounds, a music drama that follows a post-high school band as they try to make it big. The series is not a spinoff of Outer Banks but it does feature the same group — The Runarounds — that was previously featured in a season three episode of the hugely popular young adult drama on Netflix.
From Obx co-creator Jonas Pate and with a teleplay from David Wilcox (Fringe), the fictional drama is inspired by the real band of the same name and will star the group’s members — William Lipton (General Hospital), Axel Ellis, Jeremy Yun, Zendé Murdock and Jesse Golliher — as well as Lilah Pate and Kelley Pereira. Lilah Pate, the daughter of The Runarounds creator Jonas Pate, has had a recurring role in Obx.

"Outer Banks" is a show about silly teenagers on an adventure. Realistically, there is nothing realistic about this show: the series weaves a fantasy tale of a group of kids who embark on a dangerous journey to find buried treasure. Often, there have been claims that the teenage characters are far too illogical on the show. Sure, they make bad decisions ... but "Outer Banks" isn't the only show about teens who make mistakes. At least they're looking for treasure and not trying to solve mysteries and murders and magically attaining superpowers, and then there's the drama element — that is always present in a story about thriving rebellious teens.
In "Outer Banks," we have a hero and his ragtag group of friends who are on a journey to find his missing father (who was lost at sea) and, in the process, learn about the treasure he secretly buried. It's a tale about friendship and love,...

This series about rich and poor is back, this has been a great success for Netflix and now the story is renewed after two seasons full of adventures, romances… and lots of beautiful people too.
If you haven´t seen it yet… you are in for a great time, not much room for reflection, this is an adventure about young people specially created for them. Full of adventures, mysteries and tensions in characters that fight to change if not the world, their small islands of inequities they have been born in.
A very Goonies style entertaiment, sure, but this is really fun and addictive.

"Outer Banks" weaves a tale of pure fantasy from a small region in North Carolina. The area is transformed into the magical realm of Pogues and Kooks, the perfect setting for an epic adventure ripped straight from story books. Is it realistic that our hero's father is lost at sea and his ragtag group of teenage friends have embarked on a perilous journey for buried treasure? Maybe not, but the show is grounded in a different sort of realism — its casting.
Given the show's namesake, it was important to the series creatives that "Outer Banks" felt authentic to its setting. "We wanted to capture coastal Carolina living," co-creator Josh Pate told Garden and Gun. "Netflix didn't want us to shoot in North Carolina for various reasons, even though that was our first choice." The show is actually shot in Charleston, South Carolina. "We're not trying to be that specific with the setting,...

Calling all Obx fans – the wait for the next season of “Outer Banks” is (almost) over. Netflix dropped the first trailer for Season 3 of its hit series on Thursday morning.
“Outer Banks” sets the scene with “two tribes. One island” off the coast of North Carolina. The series follows the story of the wealthy and elite “Kooks” and the working class “Pogues.” The Season 2 ending left fans’ jaws on the floor with some characters, like John B’s father, revealed to be alive and others abandoned on a deserted island.
The 10-episode third season finds the kids on that island, now deemed “Poguelandia.” The location first appears to function as an idyllic home, as the new residents find themselves fishing, swimming and living care-free. But the plot thickens when the gang winds up in another race for treasure and running to escape from danger once again. Knowing the “Outer Banks” kids,...

Will the Pogues ever catch a break?
Our favorite characters were happily lost at the end of Outer Banks Season 2.
They were ready to live out the rest of their days in a corner of the world, well away from everyone else.
But this is TV, and there has to be drama.
Netflix unveiled a wild first look at Outer Banks Season 3 on Thursday, and we think it's fair to say this will be the most dramatic season yet.
One of the most significant moments showcases John B with his presumed-dead dad, Big John.
That will be a huge moment, for sure, but in true Outer Banks fashion, there are far more pressing things on the agenda.
We also see the Pogues in the city of El Dorado, but what takes them there?
The trailer doesn't give that much away, but we have to assume treasure will be the driving force here.

The Pogues just can’t manage to stay out of trouble, as seen in the first trailer for Outer Banks season three.
The Netflix drama series’ upcoming third season, debuting Feb. 23, involves the underdog clique discovering that a peaceful life on their newfound desert paradise, nicknamed “Poguelandia,” won’t last long. With a coveted golden idol putting them back on the treasure hunt, the pals find themselves again on the run from Ward (Charles Esten) and Rafe (Drew Starkey), although the nefarious father-son pair seem to have friction of their own.
“Dad, I don’t need you anymore,” Rafe tells Ward in the new footage, which includes him pushing his dad up against a wall.
The trailer also shows Kiara (Madison Bailey) held captive by Caribbean crime kingpin Carlos Singh (Andy McQueen), not to mention an emotional reunion between John B (Chase Stokes) and his father, Big John (Charles Halford...

Photo: ‘Outer Banks’ In the world of Netflix, there’s quite a variety of original content. Though some are more successful than others, it’s clear Netflix has made a name for itself through the various teen-oriented shows and movies they’ve created. From 2018’s ‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’ (which sparked two sequels), to Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher’s ‘Never Have I Ever’ series, these works center on teenage characters and attempt to cater to the expectations of teenagers and young adults. One popular entry is the hit show ‘Outer Banks,’ which premiered in the spring of 2020, and is now about to enter its third season. The series was created by Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke. ‘Outer Banks’ is part action-adventure and part teen drama, with the scenic setting of the Outer Banks of North Carolina (as the title suggests). For Netflix's global Tudum...

There’s also a mysterious elevator shaft and a wild beast that chases the Pogues across the island. And it all returns in 2023!
For those that missed the first two seasons, Outer Banks is a coming-of-age story that follows a tight-knit group of local teens, aka the Pogues, who are in over the heads as they hunt for treasure. It stars Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, J.D. and Rudy Pankow.
Joining the cast in its third season are Andy McQueen, Fiona Palomo and Lou Ferrigno Jr. Previously announced returning talent also includes Austin North, Charles Esten and Carlacia Grant who has been upped to series regular for Season 3.

We pledge allegiance to Poguelandia.
John B (Chase Stokes) and the “Outer Banks” crew are back in Netflix’s first teaser for the series’ third season, and it seems they’ve finally found some peace on an island they call Poguelandia. The sky is so blue that it’s almost turquoise, the sand is soft and it looks like the gang has set up their own little sun-soaked world far away from Ward (Charles Esten), Rafe (Drew Starkey) and the Sheriff’s Department.
But, of course, nothing is as it seems. Soon, the trailer heats up, showing Sarah (Madelyn Cline), Kie (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss) and JJ (Rudy Pankow) running away from wild dogs and participating in car chases as they continue to search for treasure. There’s also lots of fighting, including with Ward and Rafe, and the return of Cleo (Carlacia Grant) and John B’s resurrected-from-the-dead father,...

In a brand new teaser trailer that just dropped, the Pogues are back in town for Season 3 of “Outer Banks.” But, they have a different home base this time — Poguelandia.
John B, Sarah, Kiara, JJ and Pope enjoy their self-titled paradise alongside newcomer Cleo, who bonded with the group during their most recent voyage to Nassau. While the crew seems to be stranded on a deserted island, they certainly make the most out of their solitude by playing handmade checkers, enjoying tropical fruit and even putting up a flag to mark their Poguelandia community.
It’s not all woven hats and sunbathing, though, as the crew must learn to hunt for food and escape predators before returning to pick back up their heavily fought treasure hunt on the mainland.
“My pops always said, ‘Nothing good comes easy,’ ‘Nothing worthy is given,'” John B’s voice echoes. “The question is,...

McQueen will play Carlos Singh, a Caribbean Don who is intelligent, refined, and ruthless, and is out on a treasure hunt of his own.
Palomo will play Sofia, who identifies as a Pogue but secretly yearns to be a part of the country club crowd. Likable and scrappy, she starts to form a close connection with Rafe (Drew Starkey).
Ferrigno will play Ryan. Calm and collected but young and hungry, he is Singh’s top security officer and enforcer. He’s done enough jobs to keep a cool head but also knows what could happen if he fails.

The Pogues are coming back for more. Netflix has renewed the breakout series Outer Banks for a third season.
Created by Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke, Outer Banks is a coming-of-age story that follows a tight-knit group of local teens — the “Pogues” — in the beach vacation destination of the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
After their near-death escape in Season 1, Season 2 saw John B (Chase Stokes) & Sarah (Madelyn Cline) on the run — and in over their heads — in the Bahamas. New friends also brought new foes as they were back on the trail of the gold, while the stakes for Kiara (Madison Bailey), Pope (J.D.), and JJ (Rudy Pankow) rapidly escalated at home. The $400M was still in the game, but would the uncovering of a new-found secret reunite the group for a fresh mission? The adventure of a lifetime awaited, but uncharted waters ahead meant the...
