Yang, Bowen Yang, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, Jo Koy, Ron Yuan, Hoon Lee, Stephanie Hsu, Andrew Pang, Andrew Kishino, Jodi Long, James Sie and Bd Wong.

London, Oct 9 (Ians) The England and Wales Cricket Board (Ecb) on Friday confirmed the names of first 18 players to take part in The Hundred, with England batsman Ollie Pope one of the first players to move teams.
Pope will be heading to Cardiff to play for Welsh Fire, where he will be joined by England bowler Katie George - one of eight women's players whose decision to roll over their 2020 contract offer has been confirmed.

Personal stories aren’t new to Pixar: Pete Docter dealt with his fears in “Monsters, Inc.,” “Up,” “Inside Out,” and the upcoming “Soul” (June 19). Andrew Stanton delved into being an overprotective father in “Finding Nemo.” However, all of the stories stopped short of using the filmmaker’s actual biographies.
“Onward” goes a step further: It’s inspired by the death of writer-director Dan Scanlon’s father. “My dad passed away when I was a year old and my brother was three,” he said. “Who is he, and how am I like him? I discussed it with some of the filmmakers and the feedback was: Wouldn’t it be amazing if you had one day with him?”
“Onward” isn’t meant to be a biopic; it follows teenage Elf brothers Ian and Barley (the McU’s Tom Holland and Chris Pratt) on a road trip to resurrect their deceased dad using a 24-hour magic spell.

The animated show from director-animator-illustrator is a playful reimagining of the Hindu deities as little kids discovering their powers in a deity daycare appropriately called Ghee Happy.

“For the past 25 years I’ve been working in kids and family entertainment without having kids of my own,” said Patel. “Having finally become a parent, I’m so excited and lucky to be able to create a preschool series that introduces the great pantheon of Hindu Deities, not just into a beautiful and colorful series that is truly entertaining and original to my kiddos,...

1. "World of Tomorrow": Frontrunner Don Hertzfeldt offers a sublime sci-fi parable of little Emily learning some unnerving secrets when she travels 227 years into the future with a mysterious doppleganger. Inspired by his graphic novel, "The End of Tomorrow," Hertzfeldt's iconic stick figures glide through a glimpse of fantastical, if spiritually empty, things to come. Interestingly, he drew on his own personal connections for the voice acting, collaborating with his niece and a friend, animator/illustrator Julia Pott. In fact, the experience was totally improvisational for his niece, and she drove the narrative with lids of eggs being purple or the name of a cat she came across being used for the monster or her idea for the end of the memory-removal process being a rainbow. 2. "Sanjay's Super Team": This marks Pixar's first semi-autobiographical short, with board artist Sanjay Patel ("The Incredibles") coming to terms with his Hindu...

Bear Story [Historia de un oso] – Chile – 11 minutes
While Gabriel Osorio Vargas‘ Chilean short film Bear Story tells the tale of a sad, lonely old bear, it does ultimately prove uplifting. Here’s a creature tinkering tirelessly in his shop to put the finishing touches on what could very well be his life’s work and yet any and all success or failure is met with silence. There’s no one else in his small home to celebrate or lament—just the indentations of two bodies on his mattress permanently displaying that love and company existed not too long ago. How did it come to this? We’ll never know and that’s a wonderful thing. Instead we discover that love’s strength—strong enough to render distance and death harmless. His...

Sanjay Patel, whose much awaited short feature Sanjay’s Super Team will be played across theaters in India with Disney-Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur releasing on 4th December 2015, has bagged a place on the coveted Oscar shortlist for short films!
Sanjay’s Super Team has been shortlisted with nine other titles out of a total sixty films to advance in the voting process for the 88th Academy Awards.

Also this is the first time two Pixar movies are releasing in one year (Inside Out and now, The Good Dinosaur). Sanjay Patel has been with Pixar for almost 20 years. The Good Dinosaur has also been shortlisted in the animation category.

From the mind of acclaimed graphic novelist Sanjay Patel comes Disney/Pixar's latest short film Sanjay's Super Team, which follows the story of a young Indian-American boy and his father. The seven-minute short, which premiered at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France earlier this year, starts with young Sanjay eating cereal and watching cartoons until his father rings a bell and calls him over to join him in meditation. When they begin, the significance of the prayer is lost on young Sanjay, who quickly begins to daydream about a kind of ancient, Hindu version of Marvel's The Avengers, with the Hindu Gods appearing in the guise of superheroes. As the daydream progresses, Sanjay begins to grow closer to understanding the spiritual significance behind his father's inner world as the film grows increasingly dazzling and cosmic with the animations becoming more vivid with light and color. Disney-Pixar recently released the teaser for the upcoming Sanjay's Super Team. The animated short—the first from the studio that features an Indian-American family as the main characters—focuses on a young boy who would rather spend his day watching superheroes on TV than partake in his dad's religious meditation. The seven-minute short debuted in June at the Academy International Animated Film Festival in France, and will be screened in theaters before the release of Disney-Pixar movie The Good Dinosaur in November. Director Sanjay Patel based the short off his real-life experiences growing up as the son to an Indian immigrant in San Bernardino, Calif. Patel has also been involved in...

Pixar's definitely on a roll this year, and Sanjay's "Super Team" (playing in front of "The Good Dinosaur" on Nov. 25) ) is very special and particularly Oscar worthy. It's Pixar's first semi-autobiographical short in which board artist Sanjay Patel ("Toy Story 2," "Monsters, Inc.," "The Incredibles") comes to terms with his Hindu heritage, which he was ashamed of as a child growing up in San Bernardino. The little boy tries to watch his favorite superhero cartoon but his father insists that he mediate with him. Bored, he imagines summoning three Hindu deities to fight a three-headed demon in a thematic and stylistic assimilation of West and East (assisted by a lovely score by Mychael Danna, Oscar winner for "Life of Pi"). Pixar may still be riding high on the Stateside success of Inside Out, but let's not forget that there's more coming from the studio before the end of 2015.
The studio has offered a first look at its new short film Sanjay's Super Team, which will precede The Good Dinosaur in cinemas later this year.
The short is the brainchild of the studio's artist Sanjay Patel, who looked back on his own childhood to tell a story that brings together religion and superheroes.
Young Sanjay is more interested in superheroes than he is with his father's religious beliefs, but before long he finds himself imagining the Hindu Gods as a team of heroes fighting evil, which brings him closer to understanding his father's outlook on the world.

This November, Pixar Animation Studio artist Sanjay Patel will bring his vision to the world. “Sanjay’s Super Team” — a seven minute short film — will play in from of Pixar’s “The Good Dinosaur.” Growing up as an Indian American in the 1980s, Patel lived into two worlds: one dominated by Saturday morning superhero cartoons, and one rooted in the Hindu rituals of his family. It’s those colliding cultures Patel will bring to the screen with “Sanjay’s Super Team.” From the La Times: The seven-minute short begins with young Sanjay watching cartoons and eating cereal in a bland, beige room as his father jingles a bell, beckoning him to join in meditation. Reluctant and bored by the ceremony, Sanjay begins daydreaming a kind of ancient, Hindu version of "The Avengers," with the gods appearing like superheroes. As the daydream progresses, the color, light and animation of the film grows increasingly dazzling and cosmic,...

When EW released their list of the 20 Most Annoying Characters in TV History, I had several layers of reactions: 1) Why aren't more supporting roles from multicamera '90s sitcoms present? (The '90s was the defining decade of batty, scene-chewy supporting characters.) 2) Good call on Cousin Oliver. 3) Why is the only gay character represented from Smash, a show that began about ten minutes ago? I thought we'd help remedy that third problem with a quick list of the most annoying gay characters on TV. I've excluded soap operas and reality series, so forgive that blip in comprehension, but I've added an important twist: For some of these characters, being annoying is an important, even likable attribute. You can't stare at Jack McFarland for five munutes without embracing his full, loud-ass, annoying glory, right? Right. Here are the 8 characters who sprang to mind, somewhat painfully.

[1] A few days ago, we posted a red-band trailer [2] for David Gordon Green's The Sitter, and several of you complained about the very Nsfw audio that opens the trailer. I'm not sure why so many of you are watching movie trailers with the volume turned all the way up in your offices and classrooms -- do your bosses really not care if you watch trailers all day as long as they're Sfw? If so, lucky you -- but rest assured that you can crank this new green-band version up at top volume without risking the wrath of your superiors and colleagues. Starring Jonah Hill, the "Adventures in Babysitting meets Superbad" comedy follows a lazy young man who gets roped into babysitting for a family friend. Naturally, one thing leads to another, and our feckless hero and his young charges find themselves on a wild ride that includes psychotic drug dealers (Sam Rockwell and J.

The Sitter Red Band Trailer. David Gordon Green‘s The Sitter (2011) red band movie trailer stars Jonah Hill, Sam Rockwell, Ari Graynor, Max Records, and Kevin Hernandez. The Sitter‘s plot synopsis: “A comedy about a college student (Jonah Hill) on suspension who is coaxed into babysitting the kids next door, but is fully unprepared for the crazy night ahead of him and ends up on a wild chase through New York.”
The Sitter looks hilarious but if it reaches the Adventures in Babysitting classic status or the notoriety of The Babysitters (reviewed here: Film Review: The Babysitters) remains to be seen. The children all have the adult mouths of Hit-Girl from Kick-Ass.
The Sitter‘s history:
The movie was made from a spec screenplay by Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka — a duo who made a name for themselves with a college comedy script titled Who the Hell is Sanjay Patel,...

[1] 20th Century Fox has released a red band movie trailer for David Gordon Green's Jonah Hill comedy The Sitter. The film has been described as Adventures in Babysitting meets Superbad, and the story follows a suspended college student named Noah who gets talked into baby-sitting the eccentric kids next door -- two boys and a wild 8-year-old girl. A couple years ago, I had a chance to read an early draft I read was pretty great. The Adventures in Babysitting comparison is good, as it is basically an R-rated version of that film. And you'll see a taste of that in this uncensored trailer. I should also note that the trailer features a one-minute introduction from Hill, alongside the film's child cast saying, as you might imagine, completely inappropriate things. If you just want to see the trailer, you can fast forward to the 1:20 mark. Watch it now embedded after the jump.

Directors often talk about wanting to create the illusion of reality in their works -- and if that's what independent filmmaker Fred Carpenter was aiming for, then the fact that real-life cops nearly gunned down his actors indicates he achieved his goal.
The frightening story comes courtesy of The New York Daily News. Carpenter and a small film crew were shooting a convenience store robbery scene for his new film, Jesse, when Long Island police arrived on the scene. Thinking what they were witnessing was a genuine crime, officers entered the store with guns drawn and subdued the actor playing the robber with force. Luckily, no one was shot.
Vincent Garcia, a spokesman for the police force, said there were no outward signs that it was a film shoot -- Carpenter was filming with a small HD camera and wasn't using elaborate lighting set-ups or any of the technical equipment...
