Special Ops 1.5(Disney + Hotstar, 4 Episodes)
Starring K K Menon, Aftab Shivdasani, Vinay Pathak, Adil Khan
Directed by Neeraj Pathak, Shivum Nair
Strong stuff, this. The writing is skilful if not completely convincing. The plot takes us to a number of foreign countries and the action sequences in Ukraine are first-rate.
Hats off to Neeraj Pandey and his co-director Shivum Nair for respecting the audiences’ intelligence. This is an intelligent nosedive into the world of Intelligence. Special Ops 1.5 neither underestimates our proclivity to grasp the unspoken, nor does it spoonfeed us with surplus information.
What we see is not what we get. Not quite. There are invisible layers of deception in the espionage drama as we are taken into a backstory to find out what made the Raw agent Himmat Singh what he is. It’s a stroke of luck for Himmat Singh that he is played by the ever-reliable K K Menon.

Mumbai, March 2: Actress Urvashi Rautela appears in the music video of a recreated version of the song Ek ladki bheegi bhaagi si, Kishore Kumar's evergreen classic filmed on the actor-singer Madhubala in the 1958 superhit comedy, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi. She claims the late Madhubala would be proud of the new version.
"'Ek ladki bheegi bhaagi si' is an iconic song. I feel every actress would have loved to be a part of this song, so when the makers thought of having me in the song, I was very happy. For me, it was a huge opportunity because I think Madhubala ji is a beauty icon of Bollywood and they (makers of the song) were looking for a face who could justify the Indian beauty of today's time. I am glad that I am stepping into Madhubala ji's shoes . She is not amongst us but I am sure she...

Bhaiaji Superhit
Starring Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Arshad Warsi, Ameesha Patel, Shreyas Talpade,
Directed by Neeraj Pathak
What does a Up Bhaiyya-Gangster do when his beloved wife leaves him? He gets a failed braggart director from Bollywood to make a film on his marital love story to win back his wife. The complications that follow are the stuff Shakespeare would have dug out of his creative chest were his comedies into pulp humour.
If you are not too sold on refined humour and if you can appreciate a comedy of errors that doesn’t resort to double meanings then Bhaiaji Superhit could provide you with some amount of of hilarity. Sunny Deol’s Bhaiyaji act is replete with a sense of startled crime-lording, as though the character can’t help wonder how a man who is such lamb before his wife could pull the trigger on his enemies with such arresting aplomb!

On Friday morning producer Gaurang Doshi woke up to a rude shock with actress Ileana D'Cruz threatening to take legal action for announcing her name as part of the Aankhen 2 cast. Doshi claims the actress is lying when she says she turned down the offer. Rather than feel outraged and angry over what he claims to be a blatant lie, Doshi couldn't stop chuckling over Ileana's charges. "Tell me, why would I announce her name falsely? My film already has Bachchan Saab, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi and Arjun Rampal. What does my project gain from her presence? Is she Deepika or Katrina? Agreed she is part of a hit film (Rustom). But so is Esha Gupta." Shedding light on what really happened Gaurang says, "Ms Ileana D'Cruz met me at the Taj Land's End two days before the Mahurat. We met at 12.30 pm. She was with her manager Nimisha.

While recently the newly wed Preity Zinta was back in Mumbai to shoot for the much delayed film Bhaiyyaji Superhit, it seems that the shoot of the film has once again faced a setback of sorts. Recently, members of the Film Federation barged on to the sets of the film at Karjat due to non-payment issues. Recent reports claim that the producer of the film, Chirag Dhariwal hasn't made payment to the workers worth Rs. 2 lakhs. Apparently, non co-operation notice was issued against him in July 2015 and while he continued work on the film without clearing the dues, the vigilante team decided to intervene. On the other hand, Dhariwal has stated that he will be paying Rs. 2 lakh as deposit and if the federation after a meeting finds that he has already made the said payment, it will be refunded. Voicing out a similar opinion was the member of the federation,...

But now, with Preity starting the new innings of her life (after marriage), Bhaiyyaji Superhit too is all set to be revived. Preity Zinta took to social media for a chat with her fans and during the session, she responded to one of her fan's questions saying, "Next project is Bhaiyaji Superhit. Besides that setting up house etc.. Being a house wife". The actress though did not reveal any details of the film, the director of Bhaiyyaji Superhit, Neeraj Pathak stated that the film will now be back on track with a new producer on board, Chirag Dhariwal. Further he added that Preity will be shooting for the film, starting from April 15 in its 40 day long schedule along with Sunny Deol.

It was four years ago when Bhaiyyaji Superhitt had been announced with much fanfare. With Sunny Deol in a double role and Arshad Warsi along with Preity Zinta being the other leads, the comic affair by director Neeraj Pathak (who had earlier directed Sunny in a gripping thriller Right Yaaa Wrong) was a much awaited affair. However, production related issues had pegged the film down and there was no news about it henceforth. Well, there is good news now for all Sunny fans as the film is being revived. Dates of all principle cast members have been locked and the shooting resumes next month with Sunny and Arshad facing the camera. Confirms our source, "Yes, all nitty-gritty associated with the film have been resolved now. There are no more issues. The film is as fresh as it was four years back and the plot remains unchanged. While Preity Zinta’s ongoing scuffle with her ex Ness Wadia continues, she is all set to make a comeback in Neeraj Pathak’s “Bhaiyyaji” as a rustic bandit. The film will also feature Sunny Deol as a gangster and as Preity’s husband.
Both Preity and Sunny play no-nonsense characters hailing from Uttar Pradesh and Sunny was apparently so impressed with Preity’s performance that he wants to cast her as Sohni Punjabi’s mother in the remake of “Sohni Mahiwal”.
Pathak said, “Preity’s interpretation of the firebrand wife’s character is bang-on. She will not be seen as only for urbane sophisticated roles after Bhaiyyaji”.
Preity last worked with Sunny in “The Hero: Love Story of a Spy” which was a hit. Let’s see if Bhaiyyaji has the same outcome.

After all the dust settles down on her current legal conflict with Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta will return to the Us to be with her brother and niece. For those who are wondering about her Bollywood career, here is the answer. Preity is all set to make a comeback with old co-star Sunny Deol in Neeraj Pathak's Bhaiyyaji Superhit where she plays Deol's gangster wife from Up. According to the director Neeraj Pathak, Preity plays a ferocious bandit with a Up accent to kill for. And she has pulled it off with aplomb. Says Neeraj, "Preity plays a Uttar Pradesh wali. She plays a gangster's daughter. She's no-nonsense Up gangster and Sunny Deol's wife." Apparently, Preity's transformation into a foul-mouthed rustic bandit was so convincing that Sunny Deol wants to cast her as Sohni's Punjabi mother in the remake of Sohni Mahiwal that Sunny apparently wants to do with his son in the lead.

An uproar of protest has broken out in the Gehlaur village of Bihar where once lived the legendary 'Mountain Man' Dashrath Manjhi who hand-chiseled a road through a rocky mountain to connect his inaccessible village to the nearest town. Manjhi's family and the villagers claim that they were given the impression that the second season of Aamir Khan's serial on social reform Satyamev Jayate would kick-start with an episode in the mythical Mountain Man, Manjhi. Says a villager, "Aamir Khan visited us on February 25 and told us that the first episode of his serial was dedicated to Dashrath Manjhi. We were all glued to the television in the community hall in our village at 10 am. We were sorely disappointed when the episode aired was about something else. Why did he visit us with the promise that the episode would be about our village hero." When confronted by the villagers' protests,...

This is no place for the weak. This world as we know it. And this film, as we discover with the thrill of chancing upon an unexpected little gem.
Inspired from a Spanish film, is it? I really don’t give a fig where writer-director Ahishor Solomon got the raw material for this gripping cat-and-mouse tale. Does the kitchen where the food on the table originates really mean anything? What counts is the quotient of curiosity and suspense simulated by the script. And there, John Day ranks very high.
Not for a while have we seen a film so steeped in despair, so swathed in anxiety, so audaciously draped in despair and yet it engages our senses without miring the plot in morbidity.
The story, let me tell you, is not for the squeamish. The two main characters are constantly haunted by their irrevocably tragic parts. Naseeruddin Shah and Randeep Hooda...

Preity Zinta who has lately been brushing up her French etiquettes now goes straight into the role of a firebrand Varanasi-based wife in Neeraj Pathak's Bhaiyyaji Superhit. Preity has been cast as a gangster's daughter and Sunny Deol's loud and aggressive wife, and she'd have to practice hard for her part. Sunny Paaji and Preity Mademoiselle go back a long way, to Anil Sharma's The Hero where she had played a Kashmiri girl. After initial hiccups, director Neeraj Pathak's Bhaiyyaji Superhit starring Sunny Deol in a double role is now back on track. Bhaiyyaji Superhit was on the verge of being shelved due to differences between the director Neeraj Pathak and producer Fauzia Arshi due to budgetary reasons but now all the problems have been sorted and the film's shooting resumed yesterday in the city. However, there is big change in the cast as Tusshar Kapoor has been replaced by Shreyas Talpade. In one of the most unconventional casting coups to have taken place in recent times, the unthinkable has happened with actors as diverse as Sunny Deol, Arshad Warsi and Tusshar Kapoor coming together for a film which has been interestingly titled Bhaiyyaji Superhit. The film would go on floors early next year and there are plans to release it in 2012 itself. What makes the film further noticeable is the fact that it would be directed by Sunny's close aide Neeraj Pathak. Confirms a source, "Yes, Sunny and Neeraj were committed to make a film with each other. It was more of a personal and emotional commitment rather than just professional since they shared a great equation during the making of Right Yaaa Wrong. It stays on to be one of the better movies featuring Sunny and he regrets that it couldn't do well due to poor marketing and promotion.

One may not remember, as the icons of Hindi cinema, who were synonymous with hit films seem to have lost the touch and have been tumbling from one flop film to another. Would Right Yaa Wrong turn right for them? From the banner of Mukta Arts, Right Yaa Wrong is the first film that is a thriller and for a change Subhash Ghai is not directing the film, but has handed over the baton of direction to Neeraj Pathak. Another deconstruction attempted in the film is that Sunny Deol...

Movie Review: Right Yaaa Wrong; Star cast: Sunny Deol, Irrfan Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma and Eesha Koppikar; Director: Neeraj Pathak; Rating: *** 1/2 – Good intelligent thriller.
The film opens with Ajay (Sunny) being shot and immediately going in a flashback mode. We are shown Ajay and Vinay Patnaik (Irrfan) being top cops of Goa Police Force and also thick friends. While Ajay is a forgiving yet at the same time hot headed and impulsive cop, Vinay is the cooler one who analyzes every crime in depth. Ajay is married for 10 years to Anshita (Eesha) and has a kid.
