"Don't Feed the Monkeys," that is what the poster for David R. Ellis' (Snakes on a Plane) latest says. War Monkeys is currently in development from Intandem Films and the story involves several gun carrying apes released from a military research facility. No, this is not Planet of the Apes, but a film which focuses more on the comedy. Cast is also still in development. However, those interested in deadly monkeys can have an early look at the film's synopsis below.
The synopsis for War Monkeys:
"Following the mothballing of a secret Us Government Experiment, an incompetent Janitor, Walter, accidentally unleashes a platoon of military trained – and very angry - monkeys from an animal containment lab run by the sadistic Dr. Orkenstein. Mayhem ensues and soon Walter and a platoon of elite soldiers sent in to control the situation, are in a race for their lives against an...

Let’s face it ... Technology is changing the landscape of how film, music, and literature are being presented to the marketplace. Netflix is doing the bulk of its business via streaming (either through its website or on various other consoles such as the Xbox 360 and the PS3). Services like Rhapsody and iTunes are making downloading music quick, easy, and affordable.
Recently Amazon reported that eBooks for the Kindle, Nook, or eReader outsold printed books for the first time in history. Without question, all of these new modes of distribution are the wave of the future. One company, Crossroad Press, has positioned itself at the forefront of the eBook and audiobook market in a big way by gathering together an impressive list of titles by such respected authors as Skipp & Spector, Tom Piccirilli, Chet Williamson, Al Sarrantonio, Melanie Tem, Elizabeth Massie, Brian Hodge, David Whitman & Weston Ochse, and Crossroad Press owner,...

With President’s Day weekend behind us it’s now time to think about some late Valentine’s Day presents. In case you want to pick up something extra for your valentine or you completely forgot to get something at all, a great movie on Blu-ray or DVD makes a perfect gift. Fortunately, there’s some new ones coming out this week just in time.
Among this week’s selection we’re interested in are new to Blu-ray movies such as Law Abiding Citizen, Halo Legends, the Dirty Harry Collection, Contempt, Akira Kurosawa’s Ran and debut of TV series Barnaby Jones and the latest installment of Cannon. Also, Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas (pictured above with Joe Pesci, Ray Liotta and Robert De Niro) gets the 20th Anniversary treatment with a new Blu-ray release.

A couple of weeks ago, AniMania ran a spotlight on Welcome To The Nhk. While Nhk is a great series, admittedly, it is aimed mostly at a male audience, what with all the jokes about internet porn and dating sims. In light of this, I thought it would be nice to give the girls a treat (more of a trick or treat, actually) and highlight a series that caters to the ladies.
The Wallflower is a harem show — for girls. The first clue to this is the cover, which features four naked boys, covered only by rose petals. If that didn’t tip you off, the opening animation features the same four boys, still naked, lying in a circle around our female star (also naked). Nudity aside — and there isn’t much of it in the actual show — The Wallflower tells the tale of four young bishounen (impossibly handsome men) who live in a mansion,...

I’ve been promising this Nhk review for a long time. While I Could blame the delay on a massive, world wide conspiracy (which in light of the show’s premise would be completely appropriate), the truth is, its hard for me to write about a show that I *really* like. Sounds counter-intuitive, I know. You’d think the more I like something, the easier it would be to gush about it, but for me, it doesn’t work that way. If I think something is pretty good or just “okay”, its easy to talk about it. But if I really think its great, my opinion comes out something like, “Nhk: watch it.” — which would be a great review coming from Yuki Nagato, but it doesn’t really work here.
Welcome to the Nhk is special to me for several reasons. For one thing, it was among the last shows...

It's been a few months since last we told you about Death Ray Film's upcoming film I, Frankenstein directed by Patrick Tatopoulos which features classic monster characters, including Frankenstein's Monster, the Invisible Man, Dracula and the Hunchback of Notre Dame, running rampant in a contemporary film noir setting.
Things aren't what they used to be for these formidable creatures. Frankenstein's Monster has evolved to the point of being able to get ahold of his temper to become a private investigator, the Invisible Man is now a spy (makes perfect sense), and everyone's favorite long in the tooth vampire, Dracula, is now a crime lord. Pretty neat!
The film is based on a forthcoming comic book by Kevin Grevioux (of the Underworld franchise) with Robert Sanchez and Chris Patton on board to produce and Ryan "Rotten" Turek co-developing and acting as associate producer.

This week we have something different for our AniMania readers: a special report from last week’s event, NatsuCon! Taking its name from the Japanese word natsu, meaning summer, it is seeking to be the third contender in the St. Louis anime scene, alongside Archon in the fall, and Anime St. Louis in the spring.
While these two conventions are already well established, St. Louis anime fans appear to be hungry for more. Attendance at NatsuCon, which took place this past weekend at the St. Louis Best Western Airport Convention Plaza, surpassed the organizers’ expected headcount of 200, and while exact figures were still being tallied, it appears the final numbers may have blown the hotel imposed cap of 500. The hotel staff was a source of frustration for many fans, who complained of being driven from the lobby and halls and threatened with expulsion and arrest.

Death doesn’t matter. Only revenge…
Back from the grave, and back from the oblivion so many Geneon titles were consigned to, Gungrave comes to us this week, courtesy of Funimation, in an all new complete collection. The series is from Yasuhiro Nightow, who was also the original creator of Trigun, and it explores many of the same themes, but with a much darker twist.
The beginning of the story is a jarringly bumpy ride, in which we meet Brandon Heat — or rather, the man who used to be Brandon Heat — until he died. He has since been brought back, and goes by a new name: Grave, as in “Beyond The Grave”. At least, that’s what the creepy old mad scientist tells us. Then Grave goes for a walk, some monsters show up, and the shooting begins.
From there, the series begins for the second time, and we get...

All I had to hear was "classic monsters," "film noir," and "comic book" before I was interested. Yep, that's all it takes, filmmakers ... but this one sounds like it could be very fun indeed. Looks like Kevin Grevioux, one of the co-creators of the whole crazy Underworld series, is tackling a new project that will make the Vamps vs. Lycans trilogy look like a rainy day at the zoo. Sources indicate that the project "brings back many beloved classic monsters including Frankenstein's Monster, the Hunchback of Notre Dame, the Invisible Man, Dracula, Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde plus many more, in a re-imagined contemporary setting."
The project is called I, Frankenstein, and will be based on Grevioux's upcoming comic book of the same name. On board to direct is Rise of the Lycans helmer Patrick Tatopoulos, and producers include Chris Patton and Robert Sanchez of Death Ray Films, as well as...

Kevin Munroe is stepping into the ring with Death Ray Films and Maya Entertainment at his back to take on El Zombo Fantasma . The trio have announced they're bringing the four-part comic book mini-series - published in 2004 by Dark Horse Comics - to the big screen. Munroe is writing and directing the film for production outfit Death Ray, a company he co-operates with producers Chris Patton and Robert Sanchez. Dark Horse's Mike Richardson will executive produce. Jose Martinez, Kellvin Chavez and Moctesuma Esparza, representing Maya, are also serving as producers. El Zombie Fantasma is deeply rooted in Munroe's past. He co-created the character, a Mexican wrestler, with David Wilkins. The two hatched the idea for the series while they were working at the Midway Games. It...
