Over the years, "War of the Worlds" has been interpreted for everything from radio to movies but few stories have imagined the aftermath of what would happen if the Martians decided to invade for a second time. Enter director Joe Pearson and writer David Abramowitz (of Highlander fame) who offer exactly that second invasion scenario in War of the Worlds: Goliath.
In an alternate universe, the Martians came to Earth in 1899 decimating much of the planet before being wiped out by bacteria. In the years since the first invasion, Earth has been vigilantly studying and using Martian technology to create weapons to fend off the Martians should they return for a second attack, and as professor Tesla advises the generals and gathered troops of the Allied Resistance Earth Squadrons [Continued ...]...

Teddy Roosevelt is a barroom brawler, and the aliens have developed immunities to germs in War of the Worlds: Goliath, an animated sequel to the H.G. Wells story set in an alternate-history 1914.
It's the brink of World War I in co-writer and director Joe Pearson's steampunk-inspired timeline but, as hilariously put by a Russian general, the continent's would-be belligerents have bigger problems to worry about than what just happened in Sarajevo: "Those fools in Europe would rather prepare to fight each other than the Martians."
As with many sci-fi tales before it, Goliath posits that the only way to get the world's armies to stop fighting one another is by giving them a common enemy of the third kind, all the better when Earth has massive, human-piloted ...

Well's famous nevel set in a steampunk world. It's a coming of age story which follows a group of people graduating from military school as the martians start invading, for the second time. It's produced by Tripod Entertainment (which I assume is the same prod company behind Reign of Fire) is directed by Joe Pearson, written by David Abramowitz and also involves Peter Wingfield, James Arnold Taylor, Elizabeth Gracen, Jim Byrnes and Adam Baldwin. The flick is currently in production with a dvd release scheduled for 2010. And we have a big concept art gallery to go along with the news!
