Donald Peterman was born on January 3, 1932 in Los Angeles, California, USA. He was a cinematographer, known for Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986), Flashdance (1983) and Men in Black (1997). He was married to Sally. He died on February 5, 2011 in Palos Verdes Estates, California, USA.
Injured while filming Mighty Joe Young (1998). Peterman was standing under
some equipment that collapsed, falling onto him and causing minor head
injuries and a broken leg. Ray De La Motte was also injured in the incident.
Had been a member of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) since 1984.
Employed as a film loader by Hal Roach in the mid-1950's, before moving to Cascade Studios, where he worked with an animation camera and an optical printer.
