‘Grand Theft Auto’ and ‘controversy’ are hardly strange bedfellows.
Banned in five different countries, including Brazil, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates, and dragged through courts of law up and down the country over the years, the Rockstar Games crime franchise has its fair share of detractors, to say the least.

A forewarning that this article contains spoilers for GTA V, so proceed with caution.
On 16th September 2013, long-running and respected giant of the gaming community, Gamespot, published a glowing review of the open-world crime drama released by Rockstar Games, unreservedly praising the story, gameplay, characters, world design and sheer unparalleled freedom of the title, noting it as a stunning technological achievement and worthy swan song for the current generation of consoles.

In the case of GTA V, it's remarkable to look back at the series and see how far it's come - from a top-down action game made by a relatively small team of developers,...
