With both The Hatton Garden Job in UK cinemas now, and We Still Steal the Old Way available on DVD from today, I thought i’d take a look at my favourite Top Five Heist/Crime Caper Movies… In order (for a change) they are:
5) In Security
In Security tells the story of best friends Kevin and Bruce, who are co-owners of a failing home security company in a town with no crime. As a last ditch effort to drum up some business, they start robbing the neighbors to instill fear and create a need for their services but bullets fly when they unwittingly rob the wrong guy – a suburban drug lord with a penchant for kitchen gadgets.
It’s fair to say I love a good goofball crime caper, but In Security however has much more than being just a “crime caper” going for it. For one it stars one of my favourite actors,...

You saw William Phillips, also known as Tourist, on stage with Sam Smith at the Grammys last night when they picked up their honors for the smash hit "Stay With Me." We caught up with William on the red carpet just before the show to talk about why Sam hasn't changed a bit during his quick rise to fame, how they wrote the song together in about 30 minutes, and how he felt when comparisons between "Stay With Me" and Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down" were first made.

The 2015 GRAMMYs are almost here and we're picking favorites!
Well, maybe not favorites -- but ETonline.com is breaking down which artists we think will walk away from Sunday's ceremony with some shiny new hardware in the top categories.
Photos: See the 2015 Grammy Nominees
Record Of The Year
Nominees:
“Fancy” Iggy Azalea feat. Charli Xcx
“Chandelier” Sia
“Stay With Me (Darkchild Version)” Sam Smith
“Shake It Off” Taylor Swift
“All About That Bass” Meghan Trainor
Winner?
We've gotta go with Sia on this one, although she has some stiff competition in Smith and Swift. Before you Swifties get all up in arms, hear us out: we love “Shake It Off” as much as the next person, but of the seven GRAMMYs Swift already has, not one of them is for Record or Song of the Year. She could very likely nab the award for Best Pop Solo Performance, but Record of the Year will be tough.

Sam Smith had one of the biggest hits of 2014 with “Stay with Me” and it looks like Tom Petty will reap some of the profits of its success.
The guys behind “I Won’t Back Down,” Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne, have been added as songwriters to “Stay with Me,” a rep for the British crooner confirmed to Et.
The news comes after reports surfaced over the weekend in The Sun that Smith was allegedly paying royalties to Petty when the rocker’s camp pointed out the similarities between the choruses of “I Won’t Back Down” and Smith’s three-time Grammy nominated song “Stay with Me.”

Tom Petty's a popular guy with the younger crowd of musicians. A few years ago, there was a lot of hubbub over the similarities between the Red Hot Chili Peppers song "Dani California" and Petty's "Last Dance with Mary Jane," and this week, Petty's in the news again, this time because Sam Smith inadvertently aped Petty's 1989 single "I Won't Back Down" with last year's hit "Stay With Me." But things have come to an polite end: Petty and Elo's Jeff Lynne, who co-wrote "I Won't Back Down," are now listed as co-writers of "Stay With Me" and will receive royalties going forward.

Smith’s representative says likeness to Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down” is “a complete coincidence”
If you thought Sam Smith’s breakthrough single “Stay with Me” sounded a lot like Tom Petty’s 1989 hit single “I Won’t Back Down,” Smith agrees.
According to American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (Ascap) public records, both Petty and his writing partner Jeff Lynne are listed as writers, along with Smith and collaborators William Edward Phillips and James John Napier.

That it’s the dawn of “De Blasio Time” in New York City probably won’t be making the NYPD very happy. Neither will Ido Mizrahy’s “Patrolman P,” a film premiering November 16 at Doc NYC which will inevitably be pegged as a kind of anti-“Serpico” story of police corruption, and also happens to be a movie ripe for the grand old dramatic feature remake. The core question -- Who would be the hero? Ido Mizrahy, the director of the archival-heavy “Patrolman P,” has a protagonist on his hands who’s considerably less than a paragon of virtue. William Phillips, who appeared before the Knapp Commission of the ‘70s (the same body that heard Frank Serpico’s testimony) was pressed into wearing a wire and ratting out his dirty colleagues after he was busted taking bribes -- from, among others, Xaviera Hollander, the celebrated “Happy Hooker” (who appears in...

Yesterday, The Cultural Post revealed the first production images of the upcoming western comedy Gunless. Now, that we all have an idea about how the film's story looks like, let's meet the leading members of the film's cast.
Paul Gross (Passchendaele), who plays the Montana Kid, talks about what it was like to work with the cast of Gunless and the film.
British actress Sienna Guillory (Inkheart), who plays Jane, talks about why she took the role, her impressions of the 1880s, working with Paul Gross, the romance of Gunless and what she took away while filming it.
Dustin Milligan (90210) plays Corporal Jonathan Kent, a constable of the North-West Mounted Police (the ancestor of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police). He talks about his character’s moustache, wanting to work on a western, meeting with writer director William Phillips and what he got out of the film.

Yesterday, The Cultural Post learned that the first images of the upcoming western comedy Gunless have been online for a few days. As you can see on the poster, the film will be released in Canada on April 30.
The film follows the Montana Kid (Paul Gross), a notorious American gunslinger. He staggers into the tiny Canadian hamlet of Barclay’s Brush, life for the town’s 17 inhabitants is about to get exciting. The Kid immediately gets into an unfortunate altercation with Jack (Tyler Mane), the town’s surly blacksmith, which leads to the The Kid ‘calling him out’ for some good old frontier justice – a showdown. But in a place totally ill prepared to deal with a classic gun fight and without a single working pistol to be found, adhering to the code of the American Wild West may prove difficult.

Back in January we featured a trailer for a Canadian western spoof called Gunless starring Eastwick actor Paul Gross, Sienna Guillory, Dustin Milligan, and Callum Keith Rennie. Fs.net reader Randol sent us an email last night linking to a new full-length theatrical trailer for Gunless on YouTube. It looks exactly like I expected it would, but boy does it look fun. I feel like these Canadians pulled off a great little indie western comedy and I can't wait to see this. I don't expect everyone to be into it as well, but I just think it looks like an entertaining movie. Unfortunately I'm not sure when it's coming to the Us. Check out the trailer below! Now here's a fun teaser trailer for a Canadian film called Gunless. I first heard about this last year at the Toronto Film Festival. It had been described as a western without guns, but it's not exactly that. It's a western, that's for sure, but the twist is that the Canadian town this American gunslinger ends up is gunless, while our hero - The Montana Kid - is not gunless. It's kind of a fish-out-of-water film, but it's also a play on westerns that makes fun of Americans. It stars Canadian actor Paul Gross, who was on "Due South" and "Eastwick", and also Sienna Guillory. It's a very short teaser, but I've got to admit, it does look quite fun. Watch the early teaser trailer for William Phillips' Gunless: [flv:http://media2.firstshowing.net/firstshowing/gunless-early-teaser.flv http://media2.firstshowing.net/firstshowing/gunless-early-teaser.jpg 480 268] For more information, visit the official website for the film: gunless.ca. The last time we saw Paul Gross he was behind the camera directing mayhem in the trenches of the Wwi battle of Passchendaele. Now, in Gunless, an upcoming Canadian riff on the Western, he plays a gunman who is perplexed by the fact that no one in seems to understand or appreciate the brutal code of the American Wild West anymore.
Honestly, like most Canadian comedies, Gunless could be interesting and it could be daft, but it's got a great supporting cast in Callum Keith Rennie, Sienna Guillory, Dustin Milligan and Tyler Mane and the director, William Phillips, second unit directed on Vincenzo Natali's Cypher, so I'm willing to give it a chance.
Synopsis:

Toronto -- Canadian actor-director Paul Gross, star of CBS' mid-'90s series "Due South," has signed on as the lead in the Western comedy "Gunless," in which he'll play a notorious American gunslinger who turns up in a rural British Columbia town.
Written and directed by William Phillips and produced by Rhombus Media and Brightlight Pictures, "Gunless" also stars Sienna Guillory ("Love Actually") as the love interest for Gross' character, the Montana Kid.
Gross most recently co-starred with Rebecca Romijn in the ABC pilot for "The Witches of Eastwick," playing the Devil character originated by Jack Nicholson in the 1987 theatrical film.
Alliance Films will release "Gunless" in Canada.
