“Sausage Party” may be a film about a hotdog that wants to have sex with a bun, but it still represents a watershed moment for Hollywood. The raunchy comedy that’s grossed $65 million after two weeks in theaters is the first R-rated CG animated movie. Co-written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, “Sausage Party” has sex, violence and curse words in a format that has always been reserved for family-friendly fare.

The movie features the voices of comedic stars like Rogen, Jonah Hill, Kristen Wiig, James Franco and Paul Rudd playing anthropomorphized food items who discover their only reason for existing is to be eaten by humans. Directors Conrad Vernon (“Monsters vs. Aliens”) and Greg Tiernan (TV’s “Thomas & Friends”) have backgrounds in traditional animation aimed at children, but there’s nothing traditional about this deranged dark comedy.

Two classic animated movies – Jungle Burger (aka Shame of the Jungle) and The Big Bang - from the team of cartoonist/director Picha and producer Boris Szulzinger finally make their UK DVD debuts from Lace DVD later this month. It’s been years since I last saw Jungle Burger (I remember seeing some of it as a kid, shock horror!) and I’ve never seen The Big Bang so it was with an eager anticipation – based on their infamous reputations – that I sat down to watch the pair…
Jungle Burger (1975)
Stars (the voices of): John Belushi, Bill Murray, Johnny Weismuller Jr., Christopher Guest | Written by Pierre Bartier, Anne Beatts (Us version) | Directed by Picha, Boris Szulzinger
Shame, the ape man of the jungle, is aghast when his woman, June, is kidnapped by a gang of giant penises. They take her to their queen, Bazunga, a bald woman with fourteen breasts.

Belgium is a country of books and comics, not so much of animation. On rare occasions though, something worthwhile or interesting rises to the surface, and if anything, Blanche Neige: La Suite falls right into this category. The English translation of the title is Snow White: The Sequel, which might give you an idea about the direction this film is going. Better think again.
