- Shaindel Kalish's parents were Abraham Kalish, a Jewish producer in the Yiddish Theater, and Esther Naidith. Her father was also a successful comedian, who performed under the name Al Kelly. She attended Marshall High School in Chicago and began her acting career with the Jewish People's Institute, a community center in Chicago founded by her father.
In the 1930s, she appeared in films under the stage name Ann Preston. She married director Charles K. Freeman. She later married Yisrol Paul Mann Libman, an actor/director, and went by the name Jennie Shaludel Libman during this marriage. After leaving Hollywood, she appeared, using the stage name Ann Shepherd, in stage productions, including appearing on Broadway in such plays as Sophie (1944), Truckline Café (1946), and All My Sons (1947).- IMDb Mini Biography By: Rms125a@hotmail.com
