Last week, Georgia State Representative Betty Price, who is married to the former Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price, asked the head of the Georgia Department of Public Health’s HIV epidemiology section what officials are “legally able to do” to limit the spread of HIV throughout the state. She went on to suggest that people living with HIV should be quarantined as a solution for stopping the spread of the virus which causes AIDS.
In response to her comments, Elton John, founder of the Elton John AIDS Foundation, issued the following statement:
“Rep. Betty Price’s comments about people living with HIV are horrific, discriminatory, and astonishingly ill-informed. As a doctor and elected official from a state where people are still contracting HIV at an alarming rate, Mrs. Price should know better than to demonize people and perpetuate myths that stigmatize people living with HIV.

Some of the most famous names in British art – including Jake and Dinos Chapman, Antony Gormley, Anish Kapoor and Rachel Whiteread – have stepped forward to bring the experiences of poor and abused children in South Africa and Rwanda to a bigger stage.
The Chapmans, the controversial brothers nominated for the Turner prize in 2003, were the first to sign up to help a charity set up by the film and stage director Danny Boyle. Their new image, My Father's Suicide, was created after the pair listened to a recording of a 16-year-old South African girl, Kgopotso Mere, talking about the discovery that her father, an Aids sufferer, had committed suicide shortly after being discharged from a hospital stay. Their painting will be auctioned on Wednesday, along with that of 10 other leading artists.

While Nirvana's landmark Nevermind album officially turns 20 this week, the celebration of all things Kurt and company has actually been going on in the band's adopted hometown since late April. That's when the "Nirvana: Taking Punk to the Masses" exhibit opened at Seattle's Experience Music Project.

"For me, it's been way more than I expected," McMurray said of the thousands who've wandered in to gawk at such iconic objects as the band's first recording contract and late singer Kurt Cobain's first smashed guitar. "Every time I go into the gallery, even if it's a Monday morning, it will be packed.

BBC America's post-apocalyptic thriller Survivors will live on... on Tuesday nights. The Adrian Hodges-executive produced Survivors, which wrapped up its second season in the UK earlier this year on BBC One, will conclude its first season Stateside on Saturday, March 20th... before the digital cabler launches Season Two just three days later on Tuesday, March 23rd at 9 pm Et/Pt. Before it gets ugly, let's dial it back to adorable.
When we started coverage of our Man of the Decade poll, it had already been going on for ten days, quiet and uneventful. Mostly, we were amused and flattered that people like Neil Patrick Harris and John Barrowman had noticed it was happening. Once we noted that the cards were stacked a little in Nph's favor because he had more Twitter followers, the campaigns took off though, with Jonathan Ross stepping into the fray in support of his friend Barrowman. At that point, it seemed, it was on.
Celebrity endorsements started flying at 140 characters,...
