Frieda Pushnik was born armless and legless after her mother had an
appendix operation while pregnant. As a child she was "drafted" as a
resident guest of sideshows with both "Ripley's Believe it or Not" and
the "Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus". She was part of
sideshows from 1933 to 1956, when such attractions were outlawed as
"exploitive".

Lost her limbs when her mother, while pregnant, underwent an
