MyNetworkTV is returning to the scripted arena.
The network has ordered 13 episodes of Under One Roof, a new half-hour comedy series starring Flavor Flav from executive producers Claude Brooks (Second Time Around) and Darryl J. Quarles (Big Momma's House).
Flav plays Calvester Hill, a former convict who moves in with his wealthy, conservative brother, Walter (Kelly Perine). Calvester turns the Hill family's life upside down, parading his old prison cronies through the house, teaching his nephew to be a gangsta rapper and butting heads with Walter's snooty wife.
Roof is directed by Brian Roberts and written by Danielle Quarles and Gelila Asres. Brooks' C to the B Prods. and Quarles' Qtopia Entertainment are producing.
"A classic fish-out-of-water story, 'Under One Roof' will be a hilarious addition to the MyNetworkTV lineup," network president Greg Meidel said.
Roof, which has been written by non-WGA writers, is in production in Toronto for a spring debut.
MyNetworkTV launched in September 2006 with a lineup comprising solely scripted drama strips but abandoned that format last year in favor of reality shows and theatrical acquisitions.

Popular Los Angeles morning radio host Big Boy has teamed with feature screenwriter Darryl Quarles for a comedy project for Fox that Charlie's Angels director McG is executive producing. The as-yet-untitled show hails from McG's Wonderland Sound and Vision banner and Warner Bros. TV, which has overall deals with Big Boy and Wonderland. For his first starring TV vehicle, Big Boy will stay close to his radio roots, playing the owner and on-air personality at an independent L.A. radio station, where he presides over a dysfunctional surrogate family that includes his blue-blooded former college roommate and a teenage intern who believes he's going to be the next P. Diddy.
